૧ પિતરઃ 1
1 પન્ત-ગાલાતિયા-કપ્પદકિયા-આશિયા-બિથુનિયાદેશેષુ પ્રવાસિનો યે વિકીર્ણલોકાઃ
Peter an apostle of Jesus Christ to the strangers who are dispersed through Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia,
2 પિતુરીશ્વરસ્ય પૂર્વ્વનિર્ણયાદ્ આત્મનઃ પાવનેન યીશુખ્રીષ્ટસ્યાજ્ઞાગ્રહણાય શોણિતપ્રોક્ષણાય ચાભિરુચિતાસ્તાન્ પ્રતિ યીશુખ્રીષ્ટસ્ય પ્રેરિતઃ પિતરઃ પત્રં લિખતિ| યુષ્માન્ પ્રતિ બાહુલ્યેન શાન્તિરનુગ્રહશ્ચ ભૂયાસ્તાં|
Asia, and Bithynia, chosen according to the fore-knowledge of God, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience, and to the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ, ---may grace and peace be multiplied unto you.
3 અસ્માકં પ્રભો ર્યીશુખ્રીષ્ટસ્ય તાત ઈશ્વરો ધન્યઃ, યતઃ સ સ્વકીયબહુકૃપાતો મૃતગણમધ્યાદ્ યીશુખ્રીષ્ટસ્યોત્થાનેન જીવનપ્રત્યાશાર્થમ્ અર્થતો
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his abundant mercy hath regenerated us to a lively hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 ઽક્ષયનિષ્કલઙ્કામ્લાનસમ્પત્તિપ્રાપ્ત્યર્થમ્ અસ્માન્ પુન ર્જનયામાસ| સા સમ્પત્તિઃ સ્વર્ગે ઽસ્માકં કૃતે સઞ્ચિતા તિષ્ઠતિ,
to an inheritance incorruptible, undefiled, and unfading, reserved in heaven for you,
5 યૂયઞ્ચેશ્વરસ્ય શક્તિતઃ શેષકાલે પ્રકાશ્યપરિત્રાણાર્થં વિશ્વાસેન રક્ષ્યધ્વે|
who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 તસ્માદ્ યૂયં યદ્યપ્યાનન્દેન પ્રફુલ્લા ભવથ તથાપિ સામ્પ્રતં પ્રયોજનહેતોઃ કિયત્કાલપર્ય્યન્તં નાનાવિધપરીક્ષાભિઃ ક્લિશ્યધ્વે|
In which ye rejoice, tho' now for a little while, if need be, ye are grieved through various trials.
7 યતો વહ્નિના યસ્ય પરીક્ષા ભવતિ તસ્માત્ નશ્વરસુવર્ણાદપિ બહુમૂલ્યં યુષ્માકં વિશ્વાસરૂપં યત્ પરીક્ષિતં સ્વર્ણં તેન યીશુખ્રીષ્ટસ્યાગમનસમયે પ્રશંસાયાઃ સમાદરસ્ય ગૌરવસ્ય ચ યોગ્યતા પ્રાપ્તવ્યા|
That the proof of your faith, which is much more precious than of gold, (that perisheth, though tried by fire) may be found unto praise, and honor, and glory, when Jesus Christ shall be revealed:
8 યૂયં તં ખ્રીષ્ટમ્ અદૃષ્ટ્વાપિ તસ્મિન્ પ્રીયધ્વે સામ્પ્રતં તં ન પશ્યન્તોઽપિ તસ્મિન્ વિશ્વસન્તો ઽનિર્વ્વચનીયેન પ્રભાવયુક્તેન ચાનન્દેન પ્રફુલ્લા ભવથ,
whom having not seen ye love; in whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing ye rejoice with joy ineffable and full of glory; receiving the end of your faith,
9 સ્વવિશ્વાસસ્ય પરિણામરૂપમ્ આત્મનાં પરિત્રાણં લભધ્વે ચ|
even the salvation of your souls:
10 યુષ્માસુ યો ઽનુગ્રહો વર્ત્તતે તદ્વિષયે ય ઈશ્વરીયવાક્યં કથિતવન્તસ્તે ભવિષ્યદ્વાદિનસ્તસ્ય પરિત્રાણસ્યાન્વેષણમ્ અનુસન્ધાનઞ્ચ કૃતવન્તઃ|
concerning which salvation the prophets, who prophesied of the grace to be conferred on you, enquired and diligently sought after it:
11 વિશેષતસ્તેષામન્તર્વ્વાસી યઃ ખ્રીષ્ટસ્યાત્મા ખ્રીષ્ટે વર્ત્તિષ્યમાણાનિ દુઃખાનિ તદનુગામિપ્રભાવઞ્ચ પૂર્વ્વં પ્રાકાશયત્ તેન કઃ કીદૃશો વા સમયો નિરદિશ્યતૈતસ્યાનુસન્ધાનં કૃતવન્તઃ|
searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ in them did declare in testifying beforehand the sufferings that were to come upon Christ, and the glories following them:
12 તતસ્તૈ ર્વિષયૈસ્તે યન્ન સ્વાન્ કિન્ત્વસ્માન્ ઉપકુર્વ્વન્ત્યેતત્ તેષાં નિકટે પ્રાકાશ્યત| યાંશ્ચ તાન્ વિષયાન્ દિવ્યદૂતા અપ્યવનતશિરસો નિરીક્ષિતુમ્ અભિલષન્તિ તે વિષયાઃ સામ્પ્રતં સ્વર્ગાત્ પ્રેષિતસ્ય પવિત્રસ્યાત્મનઃ સહાય્યાદ્ યુષ્મત્સમીપે સુસંવાદપ્રચારયિતૃભિઃ પ્રાકાશ્યન્ત|
to whom it was revealed, that it was not to themselves, but to us they ministered these things, which are now declared unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you, through the holy Spirit sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
13 અતએવ યૂયં મનઃકટિબન્ધનં કૃત્વા પ્રબુદ્ધાઃ સન્તો યીશુખ્રીષ્ટસ્ય પ્રકાશસમયે યુષ્માસુ વર્ત્તિષ્યમાનસ્યાનુગ્રહસ્ય સમ્પૂર્ણાં પ્રત્યાશાં કુરુત|
Wherefore girding up the loins of your mind, be sober, and stedfastly hope for the grace to be conferred upon you at the appearing of Jesus Christ;
14 અપરં પૂર્વ્વીયાજ્ઞાનતાવસ્થાયાઃ કુત્સિતાભિલાષાણાં યોગ્યમ્ આચારં ન કુર્વ્વન્તો યુષ્મદાહ્વાનકારી યથા પવિત્રો ઽસ્તિ
as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 યૂયમપ્યાજ્ઞાગ્રાહિસન્તાના ઇવ સર્વ્વસ્મિન્ આચારે તાદૃક્ પવિત્રા ભવત|
but as He who hath called you is holy, be ye also holy in all your conversation: since it is written,
16 યતો લિખિતમ્ આસ્તે, યૂયં પવિત્રાસ્તિષ્ઠત યસ્માદહં પવિત્રઃ|
Be ye holy, for I am holy.
17 અપરઞ્ચ યો વિનાપક્ષપાતમ્ એકૈકમાનુષસ્ય કર્મ્માનુસારાદ્ વિચારં કરોતિ સ યદિ યુષ્માભિસ્તાત આખ્યાયતે તર્હિ સ્વપ્રવાસસ્ય કાલો યુષ્માભિ ર્ભીત્યા યાપ્યતાં|
And if ye call upon the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18 યૂયં નિરર્થકાત્ પૈતૃકાચારાત્ ક્ષયણીયૈ રૂપ્યસુવર્ણાદિભિ ર્મુક્તિં ન પ્રાપ્ય
knowing that ye were redeemed from your vain conversation learned by tradition from your fathers, not with corruptible things, as silver and gold;
19 નિષ્કલઙ્કનિર્મ્મલમેષશાવકસ્યેવ ખ્રીષ્ટસ્ય બહુમૂલ્યેન રુધિરેણ મુક્તિં પ્રાપ્તવન્ત ઇતિ જાનીથ|
but with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 સ જગતો ભિત્તિમૂલસ્થાપનાત્ પૂર્વ્વં નિયુક્તઃ કિન્તુ ચરમદિનેષુ યુષ્મદર્થં પ્રકાશિતો ઽભવત્|
who was indeed appointed before the foundation of the world, but manifested in these last times, for your sakes,
21 યતસ્તેનૈવ મૃતગણાત્ તસ્યોત્થાપયિતરિ તસ્મૈ ગૌરવદાતરિ ચેશ્વરે વિશ્વસિથ તસ્માદ્ ઈશ્વરે યુષ્માકં વિશ્વાસઃ પ્રત્યાશા ચાસ્તે|
who through Him trust in God that raised Him from the dead, and gave Him glory, that your faith and hope might be fixed in God.
22 યૂયમ્ આત્મના સત્યમતસ્યાજ્ઞાગ્રહણદ્વારા નિષ્કપટાય ભ્રાતૃપ્રેમ્ને પાવિતમનસો ભૂત્વા નિર્મ્મલાન્તઃકરણૈઃ પરસ્પરં ગાઢં પ્રેમ કુરુત|
Having therefore purified your souls by obedience to the truth, through the Spirit, to brotherly love unfeigned, love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 યસ્માદ્ યૂયં ક્ષયણીયવીર્ય્યાત્ નહિ કિન્ત્વક્ષયણીયવીર્ય્યાદ્ ઈશ્વરસ્ય જીવનદાયકેન નિત્યસ્થાયિના વાક્યેન પુનર્જન્મ ગૃહીતવન્તઃ| (aiōn g165)
being regenerated not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God which liveth and abideth for ever. (aiōn g165)
24 સર્વ્વપ્રાણી તૃણૈસ્તુલ્યસ્તત્તેજસ્તૃણપુષ્પવત્| તૃણાનિ પરિશુષ્યતિ પુષ્પાણિ નિપતન્તિ ચ|
For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass: the grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away;
