1 yathArthasyOpadEzasya vAkyAni tvayA kathyantAM
But say the things which fit sound doctrine,
2 vizESataH prAcInalOkA yathA prabuddhA dhIrA vinItA vizvAsE prEmni sahiSNutAyAnjca svasthA bhavEyustadvat
that older men should be sober-minded, worthy of respect, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in patience:
3 prAcInayOSitO'pi yathA dharmmayOgyam AcAraM kuryyuH paranindakA bahumadyapAnasya nighnAzca na bhavEyuH
and that older women likewise be reverent in behavior, not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of that which is good;
4 kintu suzikSAkAriNyaH satya Izvarasya vAkyaM yat na nindyEta tadarthaM yuvatIH suzIlatAm arthataH patisnEham apatyasnEhaM
that they may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 vinItiM zucitvaM gRhiNItvaM saujanyaM svAminighnanjcAdizEyustathA tvayA kathyatAM|
to be sober minded, chaste, workers at home, kind, being in subjection to their own husbands, that God's word may not be blasphemed.
6 tadvad yUnO'pi vinItayE prabOdhaya|
Likewise, exhort the younger men to be sober minded;
7 tvanjca sarvvaviSayE svaM satkarmmaNAM dRSTAntaM darzaya zikSAyAnjcAvikRtatvaM dhIratAM yathArthaM
in all things showing yourself an example of good works. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness,
8 nirddOSanjca vAkyaM prakAzaya tEna vipakSO yuSmAkam apavAdasya kimapi chidraM na prApya trapiSyatE|
and a sound message that cannot be condemned; that he who opposes you may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say about us.
9 dAsAzca yat svaprabhUnAM nighnAH sarvvaviSayE tuSTijanakAzca bhavEyuH pratyuttaraM na kuryyuH
Exhort servants to be in subjection to their own masters, and to be well-pleasing in all things; not contradicting;
10 kimapi nApaharEyuH kintu pUrNAM suvizvastatAM prakAzayEyuriti tAn Adiza| yata EvamprakArENAsmakaM trAturIzvarasya zikSA sarvvaviSayE tai rbhUSitavyA|
not stealing, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God, our Savior, in all things.
11 yatO hEtOstrANAjanaka IzvarasyAnugrahaH sarvvAn mAnavAn pratyuditavAn
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people,
12 sa cAsmAn idaM zikSyati yad vayam adharmmaM sAMsArikAbhilASAMzcAnaggIkRtya vinItatvEna nyAyEnEzvarabhaktyA cEhalOkE Ayu ryApayAmaH, (aiōn g165)
instructing us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age; (aiōn g165)
13 paramasukhasyAzAm arthatO 'smAkaM mahata Izvarasya trANakarttu ryIzukhrISTasya prabhAvasyOdayaM pratIkSAmahE|
looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Yeshua Meshikha;
14 yataH sa yathAsmAn sarvvasmAd adharmmAt mOcayitvA nijAdhikArasvarUpaM satkarmmasUtsukam EkaM prajAvargaM pAvayEt tadartham asmAkaM kRtE AtmadAnaM kRtavAn|
who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works.
15 EtAni bhASasva pUrNasAmarthyEna cAdiza prabOdhaya ca, kO'pi tvAM nAvamanyatAM|
Say these things and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one despise you.
