1 aparanjca yihUdinaH kiM zrESThatvaM? tathA tvakchEdasya vA kiM phalaM?
Then what advantage does the Jew have? Or what is the profit of circumcision?
2 sarvvathA bahUni phalAni santi, vizESata Izvarasya zAstraM tEbhyO'dIyata|
Much in every way. Because first of all, they were entrusted with the oracles of God.
3 kaizcid avizvasanE kRtE tESAm avizvasanAt kim Izvarasya vizvAsyatAyA hAnirutpatsyatE?
For what if some were without faith? Will their lack of faith nullify the faithfulness of God?
4 kEnApi prakArENa nahi| yadyapi sarvvE manuSyA mithyAvAdinastathApIzvaraH satyavAdI| zAstrE yathA likhitamAstE, atastvantu svavAkyEna nirddOSO hi bhaviSyasi| vicArE caiva niSpApO bhaviSyasi na saMzayaH|
Absolutely not. Let God be found true, but every human being a liar. As it is written, "That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you judge."
5 asmAkam anyAyEna yadIzvarasya nyAyaH prakAzatE tarhi kiM vadiSyAmaH? ahaM mAnuSANAM kathAmiva kathAM kathayAmi, IzvaraH samucitaM daNPaM dattvA kim anyAyI bhaviSyati?
But if our unrighteousness commends the righteousness of God, what will we say? Is God unrighteous who inflicts wrath? (I am speaking in human terms).
6 itthaM na bhavatu, tathA satIzvaraH kathaM jagatO vicArayitA bhaviSyati?
Absolutely not. For then how will God judge the world?
7 mama mithyAvAkyavadanAd yadIzvarasya satyatvEna tasya mahimA varddhatE tarhi kasmAdahaM vicArE'parAdhitvEna gaNyO bhavAmi?
For if the truth of God through my lie abounded to his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?
8 maggalArthaM pApamapi karaNIyamiti vAkyaM tvayA kutO nOcyatE? kintu yairucyatE tE nitAntaM daNPasya pAtrANi bhavanti; tathApi tadvAkyam asmAbhirapyucyata ityasmAkaM glAniM kurvvantaH kiyantO lOkA vadanti|

9 anyalOkEbhyO vayaM kiM zrESThAH? kadAcana nahi yatO yihUdinO 'nyadEzinazca sarvvaEva pApasyAyattA ityasya pramANaM vayaM pUrvvam adadAma|

10 lipi ryathAstE, naikOpi dhArmmikO janaH|

11 tathA jnjAnIzvarajnjAnI mAnavaH kOpi nAsti hi|

12 vimArgagAminaH sarvvE sarvvE duSkarmmakAriNaH| EkO janOpi nO tESAM sAdhukarmma karOti ca|
They have all turned aside. They have together become unprofitable. There is no one who does good, there is not even one."
13 tathA tESAntu vai kaNThA anAvRtazmazAnavat| stutivAdaM prakurvvanti jihvAbhistE tu kEvalaM| tESAmOSThasya nimnE tu viSaM tiSThati sarppavat|
"Their throat is an open tomb. With their tongues they have used deceit." "Viper's poison is under their lips;"
14 mukhaM tESAM hi zApEna kapaTEna ca pUryyatE|
"Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness."
15 raktapAtAya tESAM tu padAni kSipragAni ca|
"Their feet are swift to shed blood.
16 pathi tESAM manuSyANAM nAzaH klEzazca kEvalaH|
Destruction and calamity are in their paths.
17 tE janA nahi jAnanti panthAnaM sukhadAyinaM|
The way of peace, they have not known."
18 paramEzAd bhayaM yattat taccakSuSOragOcaraM|
"There is no fear of God before their eyes."
19 vyavasthAyAM yadyallikhati tad vyavasthAdhInAn lOkAn uddizya likhatIti vayaM jAnImaH| tatO manuSyamAtrO niruttaraH san Izvarasya sAkSAd aparAdhI bhavati|
Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God.
20 ataEva vyavasthAnurUpaiH karmmabhiH kazcidapi prANIzvarasya sAkSAt sapuNyIkRtO bhavituM na zakSyati yatO vyavasthayA pApajnjAnamAtraM jAyatE|
Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.
21 kintu vyavasthAyAH pRthag IzvarENa dEyaM yat puNyaM tad vyavasthAyA bhaviSyadvAdigaNasya ca vacanaiH pramANIkRtaM sad idAnIM prakAzatE|
But now apart from the law, a righteousness of God has been revealed, being testified by the Law and the Prophets;
22 yIzukhrISTE vizvAsakaraNAd IzvarENa dattaM tat puNyaM sakalESu prakAzitaM sat sarvvAn vizvAsinaH prati varttatE|
even the righteousness of God through faith in Yeshua Meshikha to all who believe. For there is no distinction,
23 tESAM kOpi prabhEdO nAsti, yataH sarvvaEva pApina IzvarIyatEjOhInAzca jAtAH|
for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;
24 ta IzvarasyAnugrahAd mUlyaM vinA khrISTakRtEna paritrANEna sapuNyIkRtA bhavanti|
being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Meshikha Yeshua;
25 yasmAt svazONitEna vizvAsAt pApanAzakO balI bhavituM sa Eva pUrvvam IzvarENa nizcitaH, ittham IzvarIyasahiSNutvAt purAkRtapApAnAM mArjjanakaraNE svIyayAthArthyaM tEna prakAzyatE,
whom God displayed publicly as a mercy seat, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness, because in God's forbearance he had passed over the sins previously committed;
26 varttamAnakAlIyamapi svayAthArthyaM tEna prakAzyatE, aparaM yIzau vizvAsinaM sapuNyIkurvvannapi sa yAthArthikastiSThati|
to demonstrate his righteousness at this present time, so that he would be just, and the justifier of him who has faith in Yeshua.
27 tarhi kutrAtmazlAghA? sA dUrIkRtA; kayA vyavasthayA? kiM kriyArUpavyavasthayA? itthaM nahi kintu tat kEvalavizvAsarUpayA vyavasthayaiva bhavati|
Where then is the boasting? It is excluded. By what manner of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith.
28 ataEva vyavasthAnurUpAH kriyA vinA kEvalEna vizvAsEna mAnavaH sapuNyIkRtO bhavituM zaknOtItyasya rAddhAntaM darzayAmaH|
For we maintain that one is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.
29 sa kiM kEvalayihUdinAm IzvarO bhavati? bhinnadEzinAm IzvarO na bhavati? bhinnadEzinAmapi bhavati;
Or is God for Jews only? Is he not the God of the non-Jews also? Yes, of the non-Jews also,
30 yasmAd Eka IzvarO vizvAsAt tvakchEdinO vizvAsEnAtvakchEdinazca sapuNyIkariSyati|
since indeed there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith, and the uncircumcised through faith.
31 tarhi vizvAsEna vayaM kiM vyavasthAM lumpAma? itthaM na bhavatu vayaM vyavasthAM saMsthApayAma Eva|
Do we then nullify the law through faith? Absolutely not. No, we establish the law.
