1 tataH paraM yIzuH pavitrENAtmanA pUrNaH san yarddananadyAH parAvRtyAtmanA prAntaraM nItaH san catvAriMzaddinAni yAvat zaitAnA parIkSitO'bhUt,
Yeshua, full of the Rukha d'Qudsha, returned from the Yurdinan, and was led by the Rukha into the wilderness
2 kinjca tAni sarvvadinAni bhOjanaM vinA sthitatvAt kAlE pUrNE sa kSudhitavAn|
for forty days, being tempted by the devil. He ate nothing in those days. When they were completed, he was hungry.
3 tataH zaitAnAgatya tamavadat tvaM cEdIzvarasya putrastarhi prastarAnEtAn AjnjayA pUpAn kuru|
The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread."
4 tadA yIzuruvAca, lipirIdRzI vidyatE manujaH kEvalEna pUpEna na jIvati kintvIzvarasya sarvvAbhirAjnjAbhi rjIvati|
Yeshua answered him, saying, "It is written, 'Humankind cannot live by bread alone.'"
5 tadA zaitAn tamuccaM parvvataM nItvA nimiSaikamadhyE jagataH sarvvarAjyAni darzitavAn|
And leading him up to a high mountain, the devil showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 pazcAt tamavAdIt sarvvam Etad vibhavaM pratApanjca tubhyaM dAsyAmi tan mayi samarpitamAstE yaM prati mamEcchA jAyatE tasmai dAtuM zaknOmi,
The devil said to him, "I will give you all this authority, and their glory, for it has been delivered to me; and I give it to whomever I want.
7 tvaM cEnmAM bhajasE tarhi sarvvamEtat tavaiva bhaviSyati|
If you therefore will worship before me, it will all be yours."
8 tadA yIzustaM pratyuktavAn dUrI bhava zaitAn lipirAstE, nijaM prabhuM paramEzvaraM bhajasva kEvalaM tamEva sEvasva ca|
Yeshua answered and said to him, "It is written, 'You are to worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'"
9 atha zaitAn taM yirUzAlamaM nItvA mandirasya cUPAyA upari samupavEzya jagAda tvaM cEdIzvarasya putrastarhi sthAnAditO lamphitvAdhaH
He led him to Urishlim, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here,
10 pata yatO lipirAstE, AjnjApayiSyati svIyAn dUtAn sa paramEzvaraH|
for it is written, 'He will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you;'
11 rakSituM sarvvamArgE tvAM tEna tvaccaraNE yathA| na lagEt prastarAghAtastvAM dhariSyanti tE tathA|
and, 'On their hands they will bear you up, lest perhaps you dash your foot against a stone.'"
12 tadA yIzunA pratyuktam idamapyuktamasti tvaM svaprabhuM parEzaM mA parIkSasva|
And Yeshua, answering, said to him, "It is said, 'Do not test the Lord your God.'"
13 pazcAt zaitAn sarvvaparIkSAM samApya kSaNAttaM tyaktvA yayau|
When the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him until another time.
14 tadA yIzurAtmaprabhAvAt punargAlIlpradEzaM gatastadA tatsukhyAtizcaturdizaM vyAnazE|
Yeshua returned in the power of the Rukha into Galila, and news about him spread through all the surrounding area.
15 sa tESAM bhajanagRhESu upadizya sarvvaiH prazaMsitO babhUva|
He taught in their synagogues, being praised by all.
16 atha sa svapAlanasthAnaM nAsaratpuramEtya vizrAmavArE svAcArAd bhajanagEhaM pravizya paThitumuttasthau|
He came to Natsrath, where he had been brought up. He entered, as was his custom, into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
17 tatO yizayiyabhaviSyadvAdinaH pustakE tasya karadattE sati sa tat pustakaM vistAryya yatra vakSyamANAni vacanAni santi tat sthAnaM prApya papATha|
The scroll of the prophet Eshaya was handed to him, and unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written,
18 AtmA tu paramEzasya madIyOpari vidyatE| daridrESu susaMvAdaM vaktuM mAM sObhiSiktavAn| bhagnAntaH karaNAllOkAn susvasthAn karttumEva ca| bandIkRtESu lOkESu muktE rghOSayituM vacaH| nEtrANi dAtumandhEbhyastrAtuM baddhajanAnapi|
"The Rukha of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed,
19 parEzAnugrahE kAlaM pracArayitumEva ca| sarvvaitatkaraNArthAya mAmEva prahiNOti saH||
and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."
20 tataH pustakaM badvvA paricArakasya hastE samarpya cAsanE samupaviSTaH, tatO bhajanagRhE yAvantO lOkA Asan tE sarvvE'nanyadRSTyA taM vilulOkirE|
He closed the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 anantaram adyaitAni sarvvANi likhitavacanAni yuSmAkaM madhyE siddhAni sa imAM kathAM tEbhyaH kathayitumArEbhE|
He began to tell them, "Today, this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."
22 tataH sarvvE tasmin anvarajyanta, kinjca tasya mukhAnnirgatAbhiranugrahasya kathAbhizcamatkRtya kathayAmAsuH kimayaM yUSaphaH putrO na?
All testified about him, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth, and they said, "Is not this Yauseph's son?"
23 tadA sO'vAdId hE cikitsaka svamEva svasthaM kuru kapharnAhUmi yadyat kRtavAn tadazrauSma tAH sarvAH kriyA atra svadEzE kuru kathAmEtAM yUyamEvAvazyaM mAM vadiSyatha|
He said to them, "Doubtless you will tell me this parable, 'Physician, heal yourself. Whatever we have heard done at Kepharnakhum, do also here in your hometown.'"
24 punaH sOvAdId yuSmAnahaM yathArthaM vadAmi, kOpi bhaviSyadvAdI svadEzE satkAraM na prApnOti|
He said, "Truly I tell you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown.
25 aparanjca yathArthaM vacmi, Eliyasya jIvanakAlE yadA sArddhatritayavarSANi yAvat jaladapratibandhAt sarvvasmin dEzE mahAdurbhikSam ajaniSTa tadAnIm isrAyElO dEzasya madhyE bahvyO vidhavA Asan,
But truly I tell you, there were many widows in Israyel in the days of Eliya, when the sky was shut up three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land.
26 kintu sIdOnpradEzIyasAriphatpuranivAsinIm EkAM vidhavAM vinA kasyAzcidapi samIpE EliyaH prEritO nAbhUt|
Eliya was sent to none of them, except to Tsarpath, in the land of Tsaidan, to a woman who was a widow.
27 aparanjca ilIzAyabhaviSyadvAdividyamAnatAkAlE isrAyEldEzE bahavaH kuSThina Asan kintu surIyadEzIyaM nAmAnkuSThinaM vinA kOpyanyaH pariSkRtO nAbhUt|
There were many lepers in Israyel in the time of Elaysha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Armaya."
28 imAM kathAM zrutvA bhajanagEhasthitA lOkAH sakrOdham utthAya
They were all filled with wrath in the synagogue, as they heard these things.
29 nagarAttaM bahiSkRtya yasya zikhariNa upari tESAM nagaraM sthApitamAstE tasmAnnikSEptuM tasya zikharaM taM ninyuH
They rose up, threw him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill that their city was built on, that they might throw him off the cliff.
30 kintu sa tESAM madhyAdapasRtya sthAnAntaraM jagAma|
But he, passing through the midst of them, went his way.
31 tataH paraM yIzurgAlIlpradEzIyakapharnAhUmnagara upasthAya vizrAmavArE lOkAnupadESTum ArabdhavAn|
He came down to Kepharnakhum, a city of Galila. He was teaching them on the Sabbath day,
32 tadupadEzAt sarvvE camaccakru ryatastasya kathA gurutarA Asan|
and they were astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority.
33 tadAnIM tadbhajanagEhasthitO'mEdhyabhUtagrasta EkO jana uccaiH kathayAmAsa,
In the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon, and he shouted with a loud voice,
34 hE nAsaratIyayIzO'smAn tyaja, tvayA sahAsmAkaM kaH sambandhaH? kimasmAn vinAzayitumAyAsi? tvamIzvarasya pavitrO jana EtadahaM jAnAmi|
saying, "Ah. What have we to do with you, Yeshua, Natsraya? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are — the Holy One of God."
35 tadA yIzustaM tarjayitvAvadat maunI bhava itO bahirbhava; tataH sOmEdhyabhUtastaM madhyasthAnE pAtayitvA kinjcidapyahiMsitvA tasmAd bahirgatavAn|
Yeshua rebuked him, saying, "Be silent, and come out of him." When the demon had thrown him down in their midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm.
36 tataH sarvvE lOkAzcamatkRtya parasparaM vaktumArEbhirE kOyaM camatkAraH| ESa prabhAvENa parAkramENa cAmEdhyabhUtAn AjnjApayati tEnaiva tE bahirgacchanti|
Amazement came on all, and they spoke together, one with another, saying, "What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out."
37 anantaraM caturdiksthadEzAn tasya sukhyAtirvyApnOt|
News about him went out into every place of the surrounding region.
38 tadanantaraM sa bhajanagEhAd bahirAgatya zimOnO nivEzanaM pravivEza tadA tasya zvazrUrjvarENAtyantaM pIPitAsIt ziSyAstadarthaM tasmin vinayaM cakruH|
He rose up from the synagogue, and entered into Shimon's house. Now Shimon's mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they appealed to him about her.
39 tataH sa tasyAH samIpE sthitvA jvaraM tarjayAmAsa tEnaiva tAM jvarO'tyAkSIt tataH sA tatkSaNam utthAya tAn siSEvE|
He stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her. Immediately she rose up and served them.
40 atha sUryyAstakAlE svESAM yE yE janA nAnArOgaiH pIPitA Asan lOkAstAn yIzOH samIpam AninyuH, tadA sa Ekaikasya gAtrE karamarpayitvA tAnarOgAn cakAra|
When the sun was setting, all those who had any sick with various diseases brought them to him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
41 tatO bhUtA bahubhyO nirgatya cItzabdaM kRtvA ca babhASirE tvamIzvarasya putrO'bhiSiktatrAtA; kintu sObhiSiktatrAtEti tE vividurEtasmAt kAraNAt tAn tarjayitvA tadvaktuM niSiSEdha|
Demons also came out from many, crying out, and saying, "You are the Son of God." But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Meshikha.
42 aparanjca prabhAtE sati sa vijanasthAnaM pratasthE pazcAt janAstamanvicchantastannikaTaM gatvA sthAnAntaragamanArthaM tamanvarundhan|
When it was day, he departed and went into an uninhabited place, and the crowds looked for him, and came to him, and held on to him, so that he would not go away from them.
43 kintu sa tAn jagAda, IzvarIyarAjyasya susaMvAdaM pracArayitum anyAni purANyapi mayA yAtavyAni yatastadarthamEva prEritOhaM|
But he said to them, "I must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God to the other cities also. For this reason I have been sent."
44 atha gAlIlO bhajanagEhESu sa upadidEza|
And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galila.
