1 itaH paraM yIzuH ziSyAn uvAca, vighnairavazyam AgantavyaM kintu vighnA yEna ghaTiSyantE tasya durgati rbhaviSyati|
Jesus said to his disciples, “Temptations are unavoidable, but it will be a disaster for those through whom they come!
2 EtESAM kSudraprANinAm EkasyApi vighnajananAt kaNThabaddhapESaNIkasya tasya sAgarAgAdhajalE majjanaM bhadraM|
For such people it would be better to have a millstone hung around the neck and be thrown into the sea than to cause these little ones to sin.
3 yUyaM svESu sAvadhAnAstiSThata; tava bhrAtA yadi tava kinjcid aparAdhyati tarhi taM tarjaya, tEna yadi manaH parivarttayati tarhi taM kSamasva|
So take care what you do. If your brother sins, warn him; and if he repents, forgive him.
4 punarEkadinamadhyE yadi sa tava saptakRtvO'parAdhyati kintu saptakRtva Agatya manaH parivartya mayAparAddham iti vadati tarhi taM kSamasva|
Even if he sins against you seven times a day, and seven times comes back and tells you, ‘I'm really sorry,’ forgive him.”
5 tadA prEritAH prabhum avadan asmAkaM vizvAsaM varddhaya|
The apostles said to the Lord, “Help us to have more trust!”
6 prabhuruvAca, yadi yuSmAkaM sarSapaikapramANO vizvAsOsti tarhi tvaM samUlamutpATitO bhUtvA samudrE rOpitO bhava kathAyAm EtasyAm EtaduPumbarAya kathitAyAM sa yuSmAkamAjnjAvahO bhaviSyati|
The Lord replied, “Even if your trust was as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Uproot yourself, and plant yourself in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
7 aparaM svadAsE halaM vAhayitvA vA pazUn cArayitvA kSEtrAd AgatE sati taM vadati, Ehi bhOktumupaviza, yuSmAkam EtAdRzaH kOsti?
Say you have a servant who does plowing or shepherding. When he comes in from work, do you say to him, ‘Come in and sit down now for a meal’?
8 varanjca pUrvvaM mama khAdyamAsAdya yAvad bhunjjE pivAmi ca tAvad baddhakaTiH paricara pazcAt tvamapi bhOkSyasE pAsyasi ca kathAmIdRzIM kiM na vakSyati?
No. You say to him, ‘Prepare a meal for me, get yourself dressed, and serve me until I've finished my meal. After that you can have your meal.’
9 tEna dAsEna prabhOrAjnjAnurUpE karmmaNi kRtE prabhuH kiM tasmin bAdhitO jAtaH? nEtthaM budhyatE mayA|
And do you thank the servant for doing what you told him? No.
10 itthaM nirUpitESu sarvvakarmmasu kRtESu satmu yUyamapIdaM vAkyaM vadatha, vayam anupakAriNO dAsA asmAbhiryadyatkarttavyaM tanmAtramEva kRtaM|
Likewise once you've done everything you were told, you should simply say, ‘We are undeserving servants. We just did our duty.’”
11 sa yirUzAlami yAtrAM kurvvan zOmirONgAlIlpradEzamadhyEna gacchati,
As Jesus continued on his way to Jerusalem, he passed along the border between Samaria and Galilee.
12 Etarhi kutracid grAmE pravEzamAtrE dazakuSThinastaM sAkSAt kRtvA
As he entered a particular village, ten lepers met him, standing at a distance.
13 dUrE tiSThanata uccai rvaktumArEbhirE, hE prabhO yIzO dayasvAsmAn|
They called out, “Jesus, Master, please have mercy on us.”
14 tataH sa tAn dRSTvA jagAda, yUyaM yAjakAnAM samIpE svAn darzayata, tatastE gacchantO rOgAt pariSkRtAH|
When Jesus saw them, he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” On their way there, they were healed.
15 tadA tESAmEkaH svaM svasthaM dRSTvA prOccairIzvaraM dhanyaM vadan vyAghuTyAyAtO yIzO rguNAnanuvadan taccaraNAdhObhUmau papAta;
One of them when he saw that he was healed, returned to Jesus, shouting praises to God.

He fell down at Jesus' feet, thanking him. He was a Samaritan.
17 tadA yIzuravadat, dazajanAH kiM na pariSkRtAH? tahyanyE navajanAH kutra?
“Weren't ten lepers healed?” Jesus asked. “Where are the other nine?
18 IzvaraM dhanyaM vadantam EnaM vidEzinaM vinA kOpyanyO na prApyata|
Didn't anyone else come back to praise God—only this foreigner?”
19 tadA sa tamuvAca, tvamutthAya yAhi vizvAsastE tvAM svasthaM kRtavAn|
Jesus told the man, “Get up and go on your way. Your trust has healed you.”
20 atha kadEzvarasya rAjatvaM bhaviSyatIti phirUzibhiH pRSTE sa pratyuvAca, Izvarasya rAjatvam aizvaryyadarzanEna na bhaviSyati|
Once, when the Pharisees came and asked him when God's kingdom would come, Jesus replied, “God's kingdom doesn't come with visible signs that you can observe.
21 ata Etasmin pazya tasmin vA pazya, iti vAkyaM lOkA vaktuM na zakSyanti, Izvarasya rAjatvaM yuSmAkam antarEvAstE|
People won't be saying, ‘Look, it's here’ or ‘Look, it's there,’ for God's kingdom is among you.”
22 tataH sa ziSyAn jagAda, yadA yuSmAbhi rmanujasutasya dinamEkaM draSTum vAnjchiSyatE kintu na darziSyatE, IdRkkAla AyAti|
Then Jesus told the disciples, “The time is coming when you'll long to see the day when the Son of man comes, but you won't see it.
23 tadAtra pazya vA tatra pazyEti vAkyaM lOkA vakSyanti, kintu tESAM pazcAt mA yAta, mAnugacchata ca|
They'll be telling you, ‘Look, there he is,’ or ‘Look, here he is,’ but don't go running off after them.
24 yatastaPid yathAkAzaikadizyudiya tadanyAmapi dizaM vyApya prakAzatE tadvat nijadinE manujasUnuH prakAziSyatE|
The day when the Son of man comes will be just like lightning that flashes, lighting up the sky from one side to the other.
25 kintu tatpUrvvaM tEnAnEkAni duHkhAni bhOktavyAnyEtadvarttamAnalOkaizca sO'vajnjAtavyaH|
But first he will have to suffer many things, and be rejected by this generation.
26 nOhasya vidyamAnakAlE yathAbhavat manuSyasUnOH kAlEpi tathA bhaviSyati|
The time when the Son of man comes will be like it was in Noah's day.
27 yAvatkAlaM nOhO mahApOtaM nArOhad AplAvivAryyEtya sarvvaM nAnAzayacca tAvatkAlaM yathA lOkA abhunjjatApivan vyavahan vyavAhayaMzca;
People went on eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage until the day Noah went into the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.
28 itthaM lOTO varttamAnakAlEpi yathA lOkA bhOjanapAnakrayavikrayarOpaNagRhanirmmANakarmmasu prAvarttanta,
It will be like it was in Lot's day. People went on eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.
29 kintu yadA lOT sidOmO nirjagAma tadA nabhasaH sagandhakAgnivRSTi rbhUtvA sarvvaM vyanAzayat
But on the day Lot left Sodom, fire and brimstone rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.
30 tadvan mAnavaputraprakAzadinEpi bhaviSyati|
The day when the Son of man appears will be just like that.
31 tadA yadi kazcid gRhOpari tiSThati tarhi sa gRhamadhyAt kimapi dravyamAnEtum avaruhya naitu; yazca kSEtrE tiSThati sOpi vyAghuTya nAyAtu|
If you're up on the roof that day don't go down and get your things; and if you're out in the fields don't go back home either.

Remember Lot's wife!
33 yaH prANAn rakSituM cESTiSyatE sa prANAn hArayiSyati yastu prANAn hArayiSyati saEva prANAn rakSiSyati|
If you try to hold on to your life you'll lose it; but if you lose your life you'll save it.
34 yuSmAnahaM vacmi tasyAM rAtrau zayyaikagatayO rlOkayOrEkO dhAriSyatE parastyakSyatE|
I tell you, at that time two will be in bed at night; one will be taken and the other left.
35 striyau yugapat pESaNIM vyAvarttayiSyatastayOrEkA dhAriSyatE parAtyakSyatE|
Two women will be grinding grain, one will be taken; and the other left.”
36 puruSau kSEtrE sthAsyatastayOrEkO dhAriSyatE parastyakSyatE|
37 tadA tE papracchuH, hE prabhO kutrEtthaM bhaviSyati? tataH sa uvAca, yatra zavastiSThati tatra gRdhrA milanti|
“Where, Lord?” they asked. “Where the carcass is, that's where the vultures gather,” Jesus replied.
