1 tataH paraM yihUdIyalOkAstaM hantuM samaihanta tasmAd yIzu ryihUdApradEzE paryyaTituM nEcchan gAlIl pradEzE paryyaTituM prArabhata|
After these things, Yeshua was walking in Galila, for he would not walk in Yehuda, because the Jewish leaders sought to kill him.
2 kintu tasmin samayE yihUdIyAnAM dUSyavAsanAmOtsava upasthitE
Now the Jewish festival, the Feast of Tabernacles, was near.
3 tasya bhrAtarastam avadan yAni karmmANi tvayA kriyantE tAni yathA tava ziSyAH pazyanti tadarthaM tvamitaH sthAnAd yihUdIyadEzaM vraja|
So his brothers said to him, "Depart from here, and go into Yehuda, that your disciples also may see your works that you are doing.
4 yaH kazcit svayaM pracikAziSati sa kadApi guptaM karmma na karOti yadIdRzaM karmma karOSi tarhi jagati nijaM paricAyaya|
For no one does anything in secret when he himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world."
5 yatastasya bhrAtarOpi taM na vizvasanti|
For even his brothers did not believe in him.
6 tadA yIzustAn avOcat mama samaya idAnIM nOpatiSThati kintu yuSmAkaM samayaH satatam upatiSThati|
Yeshua therefore said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.
7 jagatO lOkA yuSmAn RtIyituM na zakruvanti kintu mAmEva RtIyantE yatastESAM karmANi duSTAni tatra sAkSyamidam ahaM dadAmi|
The world cannot hate you, but it hates me, because I testify about it, that its works are evil.
8 ataEva yUyam utsavE'smin yAta nAham idAnIm asminnutsavE yAmi yatO mama samaya idAnIM na sampUrNaH|
You go up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because my time is not yet fulfilled."
9 iti vAkyam ukttvA sa gAlIli sthitavAn
Having said these things to them, he stayed in Galila.
10 kintu tasya bhrAtRSu tatra prasthitESu satsu sO'prakaTa utsavam agacchat|
But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly, but as it were in secret.
11 anantaram utsavam upasthitA yihUdIyAstaM mRgayitvApRcchan sa kutra?
The Jewish leaders therefore sought him at the feast, and said, "Where is he?"
12 tatO lOkAnAM madhyE tasmin nAnAvidhA vivAdA bhavitum ArabdhavantaH| kEcid avOcan sa uttamaH puruSaH kEcid avOcan na tathA varaM lOkAnAM bhramaM janayati|
There was much murmuring among the crowds concerning him. Some said, "He is a good man." But others said, "Not so, but he leads the crowd astray."
13 kintu yihUdIyAnAM bhayAt kOpi tasya pakSE spaSTaM nAkathayat|
Yet no one spoke openly of him for fear of the Jewish leaders.
14 tataH param utsavasya madhyasamayE yIzu rmandiraM gatvA samupadizati sma|
But when it was now the midst of the feast, Yeshua went up into the temple and taught.
15 tatO yihUdIyA lOkA AzcaryyaM jnjAtvAkathayan ESA mAnuSO nAdhItyA katham EtAdRzO vidvAnabhUt?
Then the Jewish leaders were astonished, saying, "How does this man know such writings, having never been educated?"
16 tadA yIzuH pratyavOcad upadEzOyaM na mama kintu yO mAM prESitavAn tasya|
Yeshua therefore answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.
17 yO janO nidEzaM tasya grahISyati mamOpadEzO mattO bhavati kim IzvarAd bhavati sa ganastajjnjAtuM zakSyati|
If anyone desires to do his will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is from God, or if I am speaking from myself.
18 yO janaH svataH kathayati sa svIyaM gauravam IhatE kintu yaH prErayitu rgauravam IhatE sa satyavAdI tasmin kOpyadharmmO nAsti|
He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
19 mUsA yuSmabhyaM vyavasthAgranthaM kiM nAdadAt? kintu yuSmAkaM kOpi tAM vyavasthAM na samAcarati| mAM hantuM kutO yatadhvE?
Did not Mushe give you the Law, and yet none of you keeps the Law? Why do you seek to kill me?"
20 tadA lOkA avadan tvaM bhUtagrastastvAM hantuM kO yatatE?
The crowd answered, "You have a demon. Who seeks to kill you?"
21 tatO yIzuravOcad EkaM karmma mayAkAri tasmAd yUyaM sarvva mahAzcaryyaM manyadhvE|
Yeshua answered them, "I did one work, and you are all amazed.
22 mUsA yuSmabhyaM tvakchEdavidhiM pradadau sa mUsAtO na jAtaH kintu pitRpuruSEbhyO jAtaH tEna vizrAmavArE'pi mAnuSANAM tvakchEdaM kurutha|
Mushe has given you circumcision (not that it is of Mushe, but of the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a boy.
23 ataEva vizrAmavArE manuSyANAM tvakchEdE kRtE yadi mUsAvyavasthAmagganaM na bhavati tarhi mayA vizrAmavArE mAnuSaH sampUrNarUpENa svasthO'kAri tatkAraNAd yUyaM kiM mahyaM kupyatha?
If a boy receives circumcision on the Sabbath, that the Law of Mushe may not be broken, are you angry with me, because I made a man completely healthy on the Sabbath?
24 sapakSapAtaM vicAramakRtvA nyAyyaM vicAraM kuruta|
Do not judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
25 tadA yirUzAlam nivAsinaH katipayajanA akathayan imE yaM hantuM cESTantE sa EvAyaM kiM na?
Therefore some of them of Urishlim said, "Is not this he whom they seek to kill?
26 kintu pazyata nirbhayaH san kathAM kathayati tathApi kimapi a vadantyEtE ayamEvAbhiSikttO bhavatIti nizcitaM kimadhipatayO jAnanti?
Look, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Can it be that the rulers indeed know that this is the Meshikha?
27 manujOyaM kasmAdAgamad iti vayaM jAnOmaH kintvabhiSiktta AgatE sa kasmAdAgatavAn iti kOpi jnjAtuM na zakSyati|
However we know where this man comes from, but when the Meshikha comes, no one will know where he comes from."
28 tadA yIzu rmadhyEmandiram upadizan uccaiHkAram ukttavAn yUyaM kiM mAM jAnItha? kasmAccAgatOsmi tadapi kiM jAnItha? nAhaM svata AgatOsmi kintu yaH satyavAdI saEva mAM prESitavAn yUyaM taM na jAnItha|
Yeshua therefore called out in the temple, teaching and saying, "You both know me, and know where I am from. I have not come of myself, but he who sent me is true, whom you do not know.
29 tamahaM jAnE tEnAhaM prErita agatOsmi|
I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me."
30 tasmAd yihUdIyAstaM dharttum udyatAstathApi kOpi tasya gAtrE hastaM nArpayad yatO hEtOstadA tasya samayO nOpatiSThati|
They sought therefore to take him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.
31 kintu bahavO lOkAstasmin vizvasya kathitavAntO'bhiSikttapuruSa Agatya mAnuSasyAsya kriyAbhyaH kim adhikA AzcaryyAH kriyAH kariSyati?
But many in the crowd believed in him. They said, "When the Meshikha comes, he won't do more signs than those which this man has done, will he?"
32 tataH paraM lOkAstasmin itthaM vivadantE phirUzinaH pradhAnayAjakAnjcEti zrutavantastaM dhRtvA nEtuM padAtigaNaM prESayAmAsuH|
The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.
33 tatO yIzuravadad aham alpadinAni yuSmAbhiH sArddhaM sthitvA matprErayituH samIpaM yAsyAmi|
Then Yeshua said, "I will be with you a little while longer, then I go to him who sent me.
34 mAM mRgayiSyadhvE kintUddEzaM na lapsyadhvE ratra sthAsyAmi tatra yUyaM gantuM na zakSyatha|
You will seek me, but won't find; and where I am, you cannot come."
35 tadA yihUdIyAH parasparaM vakttumArEbhirE asyOddEzaM na prApsyAma EtAdRzaM kiM sthAnaM yAsyati? bhinnadEzE vikIrNAnAM yihUdIyAnAM sannidhim ESa gatvA tAn upadEkSyati kiM?
The Jewish leaders therefore said among themselves, "Where will this man go that we won't find him? Will he go to the Diaspora among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
36 nO cEt mAM gavESayiSyatha kintUddEzaM na prApsyatha ESa kOdRzaM vAkyamidaM vadati?
What is this word that he said, 'You will seek me, but won't find; and where I am, you cannot come'?"
37 anantaram utsavasya caramE'hani arthAt pradhAnadinE yIzuruttiSThan uccaiHkAram Ahvayan uditavAn yadi kazcit tRSArttO bhavati tarhi mamAntikam Agatya pivatu|
Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Yeshua stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.
38 yaH kazcinmayi vizvasiti dharmmagranthasya vacanAnusArENa tasyAbhyantaratO'mRtatOyasya srOtAMsi nirgamiSyanti|
He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water."
39 yE tasmin vizvasanti ta AtmAnaM prApsyantItyarthE sa idaM vAkyaM vyAhRtavAn EtatkAlaM yAvad yIzu rvibhavaM na prAptastasmAt pavitra AtmA nAdIyata|
But he said this about the Rukha, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Rukha was not yet given, because Yeshua was not yet glorified.
40 EtAM vANIM zrutvA bahavO lOkA avadan ayamEva nizcitaM sa bhaviSyadvAdI|
Some of the crowd therefore, when they heard these words, said, "This is truly the Prophet."
41 kEcid akathayan ESaEva sObhiSikttaH kintu kEcid avadan sObhiSikttaH kiM gAlIl pradEzE janiSyatE?
Others said, "This is the Meshikha." But some said, "What, does the Meshikha come out of Galila?
42 sObhiSikttO dAyUdO vaMzE dAyUdO janmasthAnE baitlEhami pattanE janiSyatE dharmmagranthE kimitthaM likhitaM nAsti?
Hasn't the Scripture said that the Meshikha comes of the offspring of Dawid, and from Beth-Lekhem, the village where Dawid was?"
43 itthaM tasmin lOkAnAM bhinnavAkyatA jAtA|
So there arose a division in the crowd because of him.
44 katipayalOkAstaM dharttum aicchan tathApi tadvapuSi kOpi hastaM nArpayat|
Some of them would have arrested him, but no one laid hands on him.
45 anantaraM pAdAtigaNE pradhAnayAjakAnAM phirUzinAnjca samIpamAgatavati tE tAn apRcchan kutO hEtOstaM nAnayata?
The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, "Why did you not bring him?"
46 tadA padAtayaH pratyavadan sa mAnava iva kOpi kadApi nOpAdizat|
The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this man."
47 tataH phirUzinaH prAvOcan yUyamapi kimabhrAmiSTa?
The Pharisees therefore answered them, "You are not also led astray, are you?
48 adhipatInAM phirUzinAnjca kOpi kiM tasmin vyazvasIt?
Have any of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees?
49 yE zAstraM na jAnanti ta imE'dhamalOkAEva zApagrastAH|
But this crowd that does not know the Law is accursed."
50 tadA nikadImanAmA tESAmEkO yaH kSaNadAyAM yIzOH sannidhim agAt sa ukttavAn
Niqadimus (he who came to him before, being one of them) said to them,
51 tasya vAkyE na zrutE karmmaNi ca na viditE 'smAkaM vyavasthA kiM kanjcana manujaM dOSIkarOti?
"Does our Law judge a man, unless it first hears from him personally and knows what he does?"
52 tatastE vyAharan tvamapi kiM gAlIlIyalOkaH? vivicya pazya galIli kOpi bhaviSyadvAdI nOtpadyatE|
They answered him, "Are you also from Galila? Search, and see that no prophet comes from Galila."
53 tataH paraM sarvvE svaM svaM gRhaM gatAH kintu yIzu rjaitunanAmAnaM zilOccayaM gatavAn|
Then everyone went to his own house,
