1 atO yUyaM priyabAlakA ivEzvarasyAnukAriNO bhavata,
Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children.

Walk in love, even as Messiah also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
3 kintu vEzyAgamanaM sarvvavidhAzaucakriyA lObhazcaitESAm uccAraNamapi yuSmAkaM madhyE na bhavatu, EtadEva pavitralOkAnAm ucitaM|
But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned amongst you, as becomes holy ones;

nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate, but rather giving of thanks.

Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man (who is an idolater), has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Messiah and God.
6 anarthakavAkyEna kO'pi yuSmAn na vanjcayatu yatastAdRgAcArahEtOranAjnjAgrAhiSu lOkESvIzvarasya kOpO varttatE|
Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.
7 tasmAd yUyaM taiH sahabhAginO na bhavata|
Therefore don’t be partakers with them.
8 pUrvvaM yUyam andhakArasvarUpA AdhvaM kintvidAnIM prabhunA dIptisvarUpA bhavatha tasmAd dIptEH santAnA iva samAcarata|
For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,
9 dIptE ryat phalaM tat sarvvavidhahitaiSitAyAM dharmmE satyAlApE ca prakAzatE|
for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,

proving what is well pleasing to the Lord.
11 yUyaM timirasya viphalakarmmaNAm aMzinO na bhUtvA tESAM dOSitvaM prakAzayata|
Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them.
12 yatastE lOkA rahami yad yad Acaranti taduccAraNam api lajjAjanakaM|
For it is a shame even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.
13 yatO dIptyA yad yat prakAzyatE tat tayA cakAsyatE yacca cakAsti tad dIptisvarUpaM bhavati|
But all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that reveals is light.
14 EtatkAraNAd uktam AstE, "hE nidrita prabudhyasva mRtEbhyazcOtthitiM kuru| tatkRtE sUryyavat khrISTaH svayaM tvAM dyOtayiSyati|"
Therefore he says, “Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Messiah will shine on you.”
15 ataH sAvadhAnA bhavata, ajnjAnA iva mAcarata kintu jnjAnina iva satarkam Acarata|
Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise,

redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 tasmAd yUyam ajnjAnA na bhavata kintu prabhOrabhimataM kiM tadavagatA bhavata|
Therefore, don’t be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
18 sarvvanAzajanakEna surApAnEna mattA mA bhavata kintvAtmanA pUryyadhvaM|
Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
19 aparaM gItai rgAnaiH pAramArthikakIrttanaizca parasparam AlapantO manasA sArddhaM prabhum uddizya gAyata vAdayata ca|
speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20 sarvvadA sarvvaviSayE'smatprabhO yIzOH khrISTasya nAmnA tAtam IzvaraM dhanyaM vadata|
giving thanks always concerning all things in the name of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah to God, even the Father;
21 yUyam IzvarAd bhItAH santa anyE'parESAM vazIbhUtA bhavata|
subjecting yourselves to one another in the fear of Messiah.
22 hE yOSitaH, yUyaM yathA prabhOstathA svasvasvAminO vazaggatA bhavata|
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
23 yataH khrISTO yadvat samitE rmUrddhA zarIrasya trAtA ca bhavati tadvat svAmI yOSitO mUrddhA|
For the husband is the head of the wife, as Messiah also is the head of the assembly, being himself the saviour of the body.
24 ataH samiti ryadvat khrISTasya vazIbhUtA tadvad yOSidbhirapi svasvasvAminO vazatA svIkarttavyA|
But as the assembly is subject to Messiah, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything.
25 aparanjca hE puruSAH, yUyaM khrISTa iva svasvayOSitsu prIyadhvaM|
Husbands, love your wives, even as Messiah also loved the assembly and gave himself up for her,

27 aparaM tilakavalyAdivihInAM pavitrAM niSkalagkAnjca tAM samitiM tEjasvinIM kRtvA svahastE samarpayitunjcAbhilaSitavAn|
that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without defect.
28 tasmAt svatanuvat svayOSiti prEmakaraNaM puruSasyOcitaM, yEna svayOSiti prEma kriyatE tEnAtmaprEma kriyatE|
Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.
29 kO'pi kadApi na svakIyAM tanum RtIyitavAn kintu sarvvE tAM vibhrati puSNanti ca| khrISTO'pi samitiM prati tadEva karOti,
For no man ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly,

because we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones.
31 EtadarthaM mAnavaH svamAtApitarO parityajya svabhAryyAyAm AsaMkSyati tau dvau janAvEkAggau bhaviSyataH|
“For this cause a man will leave his father and mother and will be joined to his wife. Then the two will become one flesh.”
32 EtannigUPhavAkyaM gurutaraM mayA ca khrISTasamitI adhi tad ucyatE|
This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Messiah and the assembly.

Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
