1 hE thiyaphila, yIzuH svamanOnItAn prEritAn pavitrENAtmanA samAdizya yasmin dinE svargamArOhat yAM yAM kriyAmakarOt yadyad upAdizacca tAni sarvvANi pUrvvaM mayA likhitAni|
The first account I wrote, Theophilus, concerned all that Yeshua began both to do and to teach,
2 sa svanidhanaduHkhabhOgAt param anEkapratyayakSapramANauH svaM sajIvaM darzayitvA
until the day in which he was received up, after he had given commandment through the Rukha d'Qudsha to the apostles whom he had chosen.
3 catvAriMzaddinAni yAvat tEbhyaH prEritEbhyO darzanaM dattvEzvarIyarAjyasya varNanama akarOt|
To these he also showed himself alive after he suffered, by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and speaking about God's Kingdom.
4 anantaraM tESAM sabhAM kRtvA ityAjnjApayat, yUyaM yirUzAlamO'nyatra gamanamakRtvA yastin pitrAggIkRtE mama vadanAt kathA azRNuta tatprAptim apEkSya tiSThata|

7 tataH sOvadat yAn sarvvAn kAlAn samayAMzca pitA svavazE'sthApayat tAn jnjAtRM yuSmAkam adhikArO na jAyatE|

8 kintu yuSmAsu pavitrasyAtmana AvirbhAvE sati yUyaM zaktiM prApya yirUzAlami samastayihUdAzOmirONadEzayOH pRthivyAH sImAM yAvad yAvantO dEzAstESu yarvvESu ca mayi sAkSyaM dAsyatha|
But you will receive power when the Rukha d'Qudsha has come upon you. You will be my witnesses in Urishlim, in all Yehuda and Samaria, and to the farthest part of the earth."
9 iti vAkyamuktvA sa tESAM samakSaM svargaM nItO'bhavat, tatO mEghamAruhya tESAM dRSTEragOcarO'bhavat|
When he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
10 yasmin samayE tE vihAyasaM pratyananyadRSTyA tasya tAdRzam Urdvvagamanam apazyan tasminnEva samayE zuklavastrau dvau janau tESAM sannidhau daNPAyamAnau kathitavantau,
While they were looking steadfastly into the sky as he went, look, two men stood by them in white clothing,
11 hE gAlIlIyalOkA yUyaM kimarthaM gagaNaM prati nirIkSya daNPAyamAnAstiSThatha? yuSmAkaM samIpAt svargaM nItO yO yIzustaM yUyaM yathA svargam ArOhantam adarzam tathA sa punazcAgamiSyati|
who also said, "You men of Galila, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Yeshua, who was received up from you into the sky will come back in the same way as you saw him going into the sky."
12 tataH paraM tE jaitunanAmnaH parvvatAd vizrAmavArasya pathaH parimANam arthAt prAyENArddhakrOzaM durasthaM yirUzAlamnagaraM parAvRtyAgacchan|

When they had come in, they went up into the upper room, where they were staying; that is Kipha, Yukhanan, Yaquv, Andreus, Philipus, Tama, Bar-Tulmai, Mattai, Yehudah the son of Khalphai, Shimon the Zealot, and Yehudah the son of Yaquv.
14 pazcAd imE kiyatyaH striyazca yIzO rmAtA mariyam tasya bhrAtarazcaitE sarvva EkacittIbhUta satataM vinayEna vinayEna prArthayanta|
All these with one accord continued steadfastly in prayer, along with the women, and Maryam the mother of Yeshua, and with his brothers.
15 tasmin samayE tatra sthAnE sAkalyEna viMzatyadhikazataM ziSyA Asan| tataH pitarastESAM madhyE tiSThan uktavAn
In these days, Kipha stood up in the midst of the brothers (and the number of names was about one hundred twenty), and said,
16 hE bhrAtRgaNa yIzudhAriNAM lOkAnAM pathadarzakO yO yihUdAstasmin dAyUdA pavitra AtmA yAM kathAM kathayAmAsa tasyAH pratyakSIbhavanasyAvazyakatvam AsIt|

19 EtAM kathAM yirUzAlamnivAsinaH sarvvE lOkA vidAnti; tESAM nijabhASayA tatkSEtranjca hakaldAmA, arthAt raktakSEtramiti vikhyAtamAstE|

23 atO yasya rUPhi ryuSTO yaM barzabbEtyuktvAhUyanti sa yUSaph matathizca dvAvEtau pRthak kRtvA ta Izvarasya sannidhau prAryya kathitavantaH,

26 tatO guTikApATE kRtE matathirniracIyata tasmAt sOnyESAm EkAdazAnAM praritAnAM madhyE gaNitObhavat|
They drew lots for them, and the lot fell on Matya, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
