1 khrISTEna yIzunA yA jIvanasya pratijnjA tAmadhIzvarasyEcchayA yIzOH khrISTasyaikaH prEritaH paulO'haM svakIyaM priyaM dharmmaputraM tImathiyaM prati patraM likhAmi|
Paul, an apostle of Meshikha Yeshua through the will of God, according to the promise of the life which is in Meshikha Yeshua,
2 tAta IzvarO'smAkaM prabhu ryIzukhrISTazca tvayi prasAdaM dayAM zAntinjca kriyAstAM|
to Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Meshikha Yeshua our Lord.
3 aham A pUrvvapuruSAt yam IzvaraM pavitramanasA sEvE taM dhanyaM vadanaM kathayAmi, aham ahOrAtraM prArthanAsamayE tvAM nirantaraM smarAmi|
I thank God, whom I serve as my forefathers did, with a pure conscience. How unceasing is my memory of you in my petitions, night and day
4 yazca vizvAsaH prathamE lOyInAmikAyAM tava mAtAmahyAm unIkInAmikAyAM mAtari cAtiSThat tavAntarE'pi tiSThatIti manyE
longing to see you, remembering your tears, that I may be filled with joy;
5 tava taM niSkapaTaM vizvAsaM manasi kurvvan tavAzrupAtaM smaran yathAnandEna praphallO bhavEyaM tadarthaM tava darzanam AkAgkSE|
having been reminded of the sincere faith that is in you; which lived first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Euniki, and, I am persuaded, in you also.
6 atO hEtO rmama hastArpaNEna labdhO ya Izvarasya varastvayi vidyatE tam ujjvAlayituM tvAM smArayAmi|
For this cause, I remind you that you should stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
7 yata IzvarO'smabhyaM bhayajanakam AtmAnam adattvA zaktiprEmasatarkatAnAm Akaram AtmAnaM dattavAn|
For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind.
8 ataEvAsmAkaM prabhumadhi tasya vandidAsaM mAmadhi ca pramANaM dAtuM na trapasva kintvIzvarIyazaktyA susaMvAdasya kRtE duHkhasya sahabhAgI bhava|
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but endure hardship for the Good News according to the power of God,
9 sO'smAn paritrANapAtrANi kRtavAn pavitrENAhvAnEnAhUtavAMzca; asmatkarmmahEtunEti nahi svIyanirUpANasya prasAdasya ca kRtE tat kRtavAn| sa prasAdaH sRSTEH pUrvvakAlE khrISTEna yIzunAsmabhyam adAyi, (aiōnios )
who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Meshikha Yeshua before time began, (aiōnios )
10 kintvadhunAsmAkaM paritrAtu ryIzOH khrISTasyAgamanEna prAkAzata| khrISTO mRtyuM parAjitavAn susaMvAdEna ca jIvanam amaratAnjca prakAzitavAn|
but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior, Meshikha Yeshua, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the Good News.
11 tasya ghOSayitA dUtazcAnyajAtIyAnAM zikSakazcAhaM niyuktO'smi|
For this, I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher.
12 tasmAt kAraNAt mamAyaM klEzO bhavati tEna mama lajjA na jAyatE yatO'haM yasmin vizvasitavAn tamavagatO'smi mahAdinaM yAvat mamOpanidhE rgOpanasya zaktistasya vidyata iti nizcitaM jAnAmi|
For this cause I also suffer these things. Yet I am not ashamed, for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed to him against that day.
13 hitadAyakAnAM vAkyAnAm AdarzarUpENa mattaH zrutAH khrISTE yIzau vizvAsaprEmnOH kathA dhAraya|
Hold the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which is in Meshikha Yeshua.
14 aparam asmadantarvAsinA pavitrENAtmanA tAmuttamAm upanidhiM gOpaya|
That good thing which was committed to you, guard through the Rukha d'Qudsha who dwells in us.
15 AziyAdEzIyAH sarvvE mAM tyaktavanta iti tvaM jAnAsi tESAM madhyE phUgillO harmmaginizca vidyEtE|
This you know, that all who are in Asia turned away from me; of whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.
16 prabhuranISipharasya parivArAn prati kRpAM vidadhAtu yataH sa punaH puna rmAm ApyAyitavAn
May the Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain,
17 mama zRgkhalEna na trapitvA rOmAnagarE upasthitisamayE yatnEna mAM mRgayitvA mamOddEzaM prAptavAn|
but when he was in Rome, he sought me diligently, and found me
18 atO vicAradinE sa yathA prabhOH kRpAbhAjanaM bhavEt tAdRzaM varaM prabhustasmai dEyAt| iphiSanagarE'pi sa kati prakArai rmAm upakRtavAn tat tvaM samyag vEtsi|
(the Lord grant to him to find the Lord's mercy in that day); and in how many things he served at Ephesus, you know very well.
