Paul, called to be an apostle of Meshikha Yeshua by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,
2 taM pratIzvarasyEcchayAhUtO yIzukhrISTasya prEritaH paulaH sOsthininAmA bhrAtA ca patraM likhati|
to the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Meshikha Yeshua, called to be saints, with all who call on the name of our Lord Yeshua Meshikha in every place, both theirs and ours:
3 asmAkaM pitrEzvarENa prabhunA yIzukhrISTEna ca prasAdaH zAntizca yuSmabhyaM dIyatAM|
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Yeshua Meshikha.
4 IzvarO yIzukhrISTEna yuSmAn prati prasAdaM prakAzitavAn, tasmAdahaM yuSmannimittaM sarvvadA madIyEzvaraM dhanyaM vadAmi|
I always thank my God concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Meshikha Yeshua;
5 khrISTasambandhIyaM sAkSyaM yuSmAkaM madhyE yEna prakArENa sapramANam abhavat
that in everything you were enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge;
6 tEna yUyaM khrISTAt sarvvavidhavaktRtAjnjAnAdIni sarvvadhanAni labdhavantaH|
even as the testimony of Meshikha was confirmed in you:
7 tatO'smatprabhO ryIzukhrISTasya punarAgamanaM pratIkSamANAnAM yuSmAkaM kasyApi varasyAbhAvO na bhavati|
so that you come behind in no gift; as you wait for our Lord Yeshua Meshikha to be revealed;
8 aparam asmAkaM prabhO ryIzukhrISTasya divasE yUyaM yannirddOSA bhavEta tadarthaM saEva yAvadantaM yuSmAn susthirAn kariSyati|
who will also strengthen you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Yeshua Meshikha.
9 ya IzvaraH svaputrasyAsmatprabhO ryIzukhrISTasyAMzinaH karttuM yuSmAn AhUtavAn sa vizvasanIyaH|
God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Yeshua Meshikha, our Lord.
10 hE bhrAtaraH, asmAkaM prabhuyIzukhrISTasya nAmnA yuSmAn vinayE'haM sarvvai ryuSmAbhirEkarUpANi vAkyAni kathyantAM yuSmanmadhyE bhinnasagghAtA na bhavantu manOvicArayOraikyEna yuSmAkaM siddhatvaM bhavatu|
Now I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Yeshua Meshikha, that all of you be in agreement, so that there may be no divisions among you, and to be united by the same mind and conviction.
11 hE mama bhrAtarO yuSmanmadhyE vivAdA jAtA iti vArttAmahaM klOyyAH parijanai rjnjApitaH|
For it has been reported to me concerning you, my brothers, by those who are from Chloe's household, that there are contentions among you.
12 mamAbhiprEtamidaM yuSmAkaM kazcit kazcid vadati paulasya ziSyO'ham ApallOH ziSyO'haM kaiphAH ziSyO'haM khrISTasya ziSyO'hamiti ca|
Now I mean this, that each one of you says, "I follow Paul," "I follow Apollos," "I follow Kipha," and, "I follow Meshikha."
13 khrISTasya kiM vibhEdaH kRtaH? paulaH kiM yuSmatkRtE kruzE hataH? paulasya nAmnA vA yUyaM kiM majjitAH?
Is Meshikha divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul?
14 kriSpagAyau vinA yuSmAkaM madhyE'nyaH kO'pi mayA na majjita iti hEtOraham IzvaraM dhanyaM vadAmi|
I thank God that I baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius,
15 EtEna mama nAmnA mAnavA mayA majjitA iti vaktuM kEnApi na zakyatE|
so that no one should say that you had been baptized into my own name.
16 aparaM stiphAnasya parijanA mayA majjitAstadanyaH kazcid yanmayA majjitastadahaM na vEdmi|
(Now I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized any other.)

For Meshikha sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Good News—not in wisdom of words, so that the cross of the Meshikha would not be made void.
18 yatO hEtO ryE vinazyanti tE tAM kruzasya vArttAM pralApamiva manyantE kinjca paritrANaM labhamAnESvasmAsu sA IzvarIyazaktisvarUpA|
For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
19 tasmAditthaM likhitamAstE, jnjAnavatAntu yat jnjAnaM tanmayA nAzayiSyatE| vilOpayiSyatE tadvad buddhi rbaddhimatAM mayA||
For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will nullify."
20 jnjAnI kutra? zAstrI vA kutra? ihalOkasya vicAratatparO vA kutra? ihalOkasya jnjAnaM kimIzvarENa mOhIkRtaM nahi? (aiōn )
Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn't God made foolish the wisdom of the world? (aiōn )

For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not know God, it was God's good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.
22 yihUdIyalOkA lakSaNAni didRkSanti bhinnadEzIyalOkAstu vidyAM mRgayantE,

but we preach Meshikha crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to the non-Jews,
24 kintu yihUdIyAnAM bhinnadEzIyAnAnjca madhyE yE AhUtAstESu sa khrISTa IzvarIyazaktirivEzvarIyajnjAnamiva ca prakAzatE|
but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Meshikha is the power of God and the wisdom of God.
25 yata IzvarE yaH pralApa ArOpyatE sa mAnavAtiriktaM jnjAnamEva yacca daurbbalyam Izvara ArOpyatE tat mAnavAtiriktaM balamEva|
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than man's, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's.

For consider your calling, brothers, that not many were wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth.
27 yata IzvarO jnjAnavatastrapayituM mUrkhalOkAn rOcitavAn balAni ca trapayitum IzvarO durbbalAn rOcitavAn|
But God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise. And God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong.
28 tathA varttamAnalOkAn saMsthitibhraSTAn karttum IzvarO jagatO'pakRSTAn hEyAn avarttamAnAMzcAbhirOcitavAn|
And God chose the lowly of the world, and the despised, what is considered to be nothing, to bring to nothing what is considered to be something,
29 tata Izvarasya sAkSAt kEnApyAtmazlAghA na karttavyA|
that no flesh might boast before God.
30 yUyanjca tasmAt khrISTE yIzau saMsthitiM prAptavantaH sa IzvarAd yuSmAkaM jnjAnaM puNyaM pavitratvaM muktizca jAtA|
And because of him you are in Meshikha Yeshua, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

so that, as it is written, "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord."
