< Matthew 5 >
1 Jisua'n loko ngei hah a mûn chu muol chunga a kala, mahan ânsunga. A ruoisingei a kôla an hong intûpa,
When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain and sat down. His disciples came to Him,
2 male anni ngei hah a minchu phut zoi:
and He began to teach them, saying:
3 “Ratha tienga inrienga ânriet ngei chu satvur anni; Invân Rêngram an ta ani sikin.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Rathanvâingei chu satvur anni; Pathien'n rathanngamna a pêk ngei rang ani!
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5 Rangâiinchînngei chu satvur anni; Pathien chonginkhâm an la man rang ani!
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
6 Pathien'n a minnângngei sin ranga ôina lientak dônngei chu satvur anni; Pathien'n mulungchukna a pêk ngei rang ani!
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
7 Mulungjûrpuina dôn ngei chu satvur anni; Pathien mulungjûrpuina an chang rang ani!
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
8 Mulung inthiengngei chu satvur anni; Pathien an la mu rang ani!
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9 Inngêina ranga sintho ngei chu satvur anni; Pathien'n ama nâingei tiin a la koi ngei rang ani!
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
10 Pathien'n a minnângngei sin sikin nuomlona tuong ngei chu satvur anni; Invân Rêngram an ta ani!”
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Ku nûkjûingei nin nina sika min nangni an êroa, an nunuom nangni an loa, milak saloi ngeiin nangni an nôn tika chu satvur nin ni.
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
12 Nin râiminsân ungla, nin ta rangin râisânman lientak invâna darin aom sikin. Nin motona lei om dêipungei hah khom nunuomlona an lei tuong ngâi ani.”
Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you.
13 “Mitin ta rangin michi angin nin ni. Aniatachu michi hih a âlna ahong dongin chu min âl nôk thei ni khâi mak. Mangmunboi ahong changa, masikin an paia, mingeiin an sirpol ngâi ani.
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its savor, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
14 “Nangni ngei hah rammuol pumpui rangin vâr angin nin ni. Tângsîpa khopui aom chu inthup thei ngâi mak.
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Tutên châti mochokin khuriâi nuoia dar ngâi mak ngei; manêkin chu in sûnga mi murdi a êlminvârna rangin châtidarna kêng an dar ngâi ani.
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
16 Ma angdên han nin vâr hah mingei makunga vâr ngêt rese, hankêng nin neinun sa tho ngei hah mûng an ta, male invâna om nin Pa minpâk thei an tih.
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
17 “Moses le Dêipungei Balam minchûnangei minboi ranga juongin ni be no roi. Ma ngei hah minboi ranga juong ni mu-unga, an minchûnangei ajuongtung dikna ranga kêng ki ni.
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them.
18 Pilchung le invân a om kâr chu Balam chong ânziek ahâng chînte mo, miziek dukriekte mo hi boi no nih, neinunngei murdi mongna ahongtung mâka chu ti hi riettit roi.
For I tell you truly, until heaven and earth pass away, not a single jot, not a stroke of a pen, will disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
19 Masikin tukhomin hi chongpêkngei lâia achîntak khom jômloiin, ma angdênin tho sa rangin midangngei khom a minchûn chu invân Rêngrama chu mi chîntak nîng a tih. Nikhomrese tukhomin Balam a jôma, ma angdênin tho sa rangin mi a minchûa anin chu invân Rêngrama chu mi lien nîng a tih.
So then, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do likewise will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 Hanchu, Pathien lungdo sinna lama Balam minchupungei le Phariseengei nêkin taksôn-omin nin om vaiin kêng invân Rêngrama nin lût thei rang tiin nangni ki ril ani.
For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
21 “Tienlâia mingei kôm chu, ‘Mi that no roh; tukhom mi that chu roijêkna makunga inding a tih,’ tiin an ril ngâi ti nin riet.
You have heard that it was said to the ancients, ‘Do not murder’ and ‘Anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’
22 Ania, atûn keiman chu: Tukhom a lâibungpa chunga a taksîn chu roijêkna makunga tuongin om a tih, tukhom a lâibungpa kôm, ‘Mangmunboipa!’ ti chu roijêkna makunga tuongin om a tih, male tukhom a lâibungpa kôm mangmunboi, amopa ti chu meidîla se rangin ichi aom ani. (Geenna )
But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ will be subject to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be subject to the fire of hell. (Geenna )
23 Masikin mâichâm motona Pathien kôm neinunpêk ne pêk rang lâitak khomin na lâibungpa'n nu chunga mulung hoiloina a dôn iti ni riettitin chu,
So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,
24 mâichâm motona ne neinunpêk ne pêk rang hah mâk inla, inrangin sênla, na lâibungpa leh inngêina va sin bak inla, masuole chu hongkîr nôk inla Pathien kôma ne neinunpêk rang hah pêk roh.
leave your gift there before the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.
25 “Mîn dabi thôn nang an doia roijêkna muna nang an tuongin chu zora ala om sûngin nin bâiinkhamna hah inngêipui roh, roijêkna mun nin tung mân. Amuna voikhat pai na va tungin chu, ama'n roijêkpu kuta nang bâng a ta, misûrngei kuta nang bâng a ta, male jêl-ina khum nini rang ani.
Reconcile quickly with your adversary, while you are still on the way to court. Otherwise, he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.
26 Nangni ki ril, poisate tena luo lei nu thuon mâka chu ma muna han om tit ni tih.
Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.
27 “Inrê no roh, an lei ti hah nin riet.
You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’
28 Ania, atûn Keiman chu: tukhomin nupang midit enin a ena, amanu hah luo rang a nuomin chu a mulungrîla amanu leh han an inrêa, theiloi changin aom zoi, tiin nangni ki ril ani.
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29 Masikin ni mit chang tieng han nang aminpalin chu kêlpai inla, vôrpai kelen roh! Na takpum, pumpuia meidîla se nêkin chu na takpuma abâk inkhat ânsam hah chu nata rangin asa uol. (Geenna )
If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. (Geenna )
30 Nu kut changtieng nang aminpalin chu tanpai inla, pai kelen roh! Na takpum, pumpuia meidîla se nêkin chu na takpuma abâk inkhat ânsam hah chu nata rangin asa uol ani.” (Geenna )
And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to depart into hell. (Geenna )
31 “‘Tukhom a lômnu a mâkin chu mâkna lekha a pêk rang ani,’ an ti sa.
It has also been said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’
32 Hannirese atûn Keiman chu: tukhom pasalin a lômnu hah roi danga niloiin, taksôn omloina sika a mâka anin chu a lômnu hah inrê a minchang ani; male mi lômnu mâksai inneipui nôkpu chu amanu hah a inrêpuiin theiloi a changsa ani, ti nangni ki ril ani.
But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, brings adultery upon her. And he who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
33 “Tienlâia mingei kôm chu, ‘No chonginkhâm hah set nôn la, Pumapa makunga nên khâmna hah tho roh,’ an ti, tiin nin riet sa.
Again, you have heard that it was said to the ancients, ‘Do not break your oath, but fulfill your vows to the Lord.’
34 Aniatachu atûn keiman chu, chonginkhâm nin sin zorân inkhâmna ite mang no roi. Invân sâmin khom, khomâkinsâm no roi, Pathien Rêngsukmun ani sikin;
But I tell you not to swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne;
35 pilchung sâmin khom, khomâkinsâm no roi, a ke darna ani sikin. Jerusalem sâmin khom, khomâkinsâm no roi, ma khi Rêng roiinpuitak khopui ani sikin.
or by the earth, for it is His footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
36 Nin lu sâmin khom khomâkinsâm no roi, samsang inkhat luo hih nin minchek thei le nin minhâng thei aom loi sikin.
Nor should you swear by your head, for you cannot make a single hair white or black.
37 ‘Ani’ nônchu ‘Nimak’ vai ti roi, mapêna nin ti hah chu Saloipa Inkhat renga hong kêng ani.”
Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ Anything more comes from the evil one.
38 “‘Mit ruthûla mit,’ ‘hâ ruthûla hâ,’ an ti hah nin riet.
You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.’
39 Aniatachu atûn keiman chu: nin chunga asaloi tho ngei chunga phubaluok no roi. Tukhomin ni bieng chang tieng a bênin chu, voi tienga ni bieng khom minbên sa roh.
But I tell you not to resist an evil person. If someone slaps you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also;
40 Tukhom nu sûng kancholi lâk rang a râivala roijêkna muna nang tuong rang a bôkin chu na kâncholiinchuol khom pêk sa roh.
if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well;
41 Mi'n a puok kilometer khat pêl rangin nang a tiin chu kilometer inik pêlpe roh.
and if someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.
42 Mi'n neinun imini nang a zong zorân chu, maha a kôm pêk roh; mi lâkâi nang a zongpu hah lei min pûk roh.”
Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
43 “Na malngei lungkham inla, na râlngei mumâk roh,” an ti iti nin riet.
You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor’ and ‘Hate your enemy.’
44 Aniatachu atûn keiman chu: nin râlngei lungkham ungla, an nunuom nangni lo ngei hah chubai tho pe roi,
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
45 masikin invâna nin Pa nâingei nin hongni theina rangin. Ama'n misiengei le misangei chunga a nisa hah ân-angbangin a min suok ngâia, asa sinngei le asie sinngei chunga khom ruo a min juong pe ngei ngâi.
that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
46 Nang lungkhamngei vai nu lungkham ngeiin te ithomo Pathien'n râisânman nang a pêk ranga? Mahah chu sum rusuongpungei khomin an tho ngâi!
If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Do not even tax collectors do the same?
47 Hanchu, nin malngei kôm vai nin chongin te imo aliek nin tho uola? Mahah chu sonongngei khomin an tho ngâi!
And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even Gentiles do the same?
48 Invâna nin Pa asa akipphar anghan nangni khom nan satna hah akipphar ngêt rang ani!
Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
