1 Ochai Inlaltak han Stephan kôm, “hi chong hi adik mo?” a tia.
And the High-priest said—Are these things, so?
2 Stephan'n, “Ka lâibungngei ka pangei rangâi roi, ei richibul Abraham hah Haran khuoa ava om mân, Mesopotamia rama aom lâihan, roiinpuina Pathien hah a kôm ânlâra.
And, he, said—Brethren and fathers, hearken! The God of Glory, appeared unto our father Abraham, while he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran, —
3 ‘Na ram le ni insûngmingei mâksan inla, ram nang ka la min mûna rang tieng se roh,’ a tipea.
And said unto him—Get thee forth, out of thy land, and from among thy kindred, and come unto the land which, unto thee, I will point out.
4 Masikin, a ram renga ânphêta, Harana om rangin a sea. Abraham a pa thi suole, ha mun renga atûna nin omna rama hin Pathien'n nangni a min thon ani.
Then, coming forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, he dwelt in Haran; and, from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, in which, ye, now dwell;
5 Pathien'n ite mun luorang, a ke sirna rang dôr luo pêk maka, aniatachu ama le anûka a richisuonpârngei tena pêk rangin ânkhâm ani. Pathien'n ha chong ânkhâm lâihan Abraham chu nâi la dôn mak.
And gave him no inheritance therein, not even a place to set his foot on; and yet promised to give it unto him in possession, and unto his seed after him, when as yet he had not a child.
6 Pathien'n hi anghin a tia, ‘Nin richisuonpârngei chu mi rama khuolmi la nîng an ta, kum raza minli mi suoka omin asân dûkmintong la nîng an tih.
But God, spake thus—His seed shall be a sojourner in a foreign land, and they will bring it into bondage, and ill-treat it four-hundred years;
7 Hannirese suoka tuong rang mingei chu keiman jêk ka ta; masuole jôk an tih, hi muna hin ni la biek an tih,’ a tia.
And, the nation unto which they shall be in bondage, will, I, judge—said God; and, after these things, shall they come forth, and render divine service unto me, in this place.
8 Pathien'n Abraham kôm chonginkhitin an sertan rangin chong a pêk zoi. Masikin Abraham han a nâipasal Isaac hah sûn sari suoleh a ser a tanpea; Isaac'n a nâi Jakob a tanpe nôka, Jakob'n a nâi sômleinik ei richibulngei inthang ngei a tanpe nôka.
And he gave unto him a covenant of circumcision; and, thus, he begat Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day, and Isaac, Jacob, and Jacob, the twelve patriarchs.
9 “Jakob nâipasalngeiin an lâibungpa Joseph hah an narsa zoia, Egypt rama suok rangin an juora, hannirese, Pathien'n a ompuia.
And, the patriarchs, being jealous of Joseph, gave him up into Egypt; and, God, was, with him,

And rescued him out of all his tribulations, and gave him favour and wisdom before Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he appointed him governor over Egypt and all his house.
11 Hanchu Egypt le Canaan ram pumpuia mâitâm achula, asân intak an tuonga, ei richibulngei han sâk le nêk rang reng man khâimak ngeia.
And there came a famine upon all Egypt and Canaan, and great tribulation, and our fathers could not find pasture.
12 Jakob'n Egypt rama bu aom ti a rietin chu a nâingei a tîra, ma hah an se phutna tak alei ni.
But Jacob, hearing there was corn in Egypt, sent off our fathers, first;
13 Avoinikna an se han Joseph han a lâibungngei le inrietna a lei thopui ngeia, Egypt Rêng han khom Joseph insungmingei a lei riet zoia.
And, the second time, Joseph was made known unto his brethren, and, the race of Joseph was made, manifest, unto Pharaoh.
14 Hanchu, Joseph han a pa Jakob le a insûngmingei murdi Egypt rama om rangin a koia, an rêngin sômsari-leirangnga anni.
And Joseph, sending forth, called for Jacob his father, and all the kindred, consisting of seventy-five souls;
15 Hanchu Jakob hah Egypt rama a va sea ha muna han ama le a nâipasalngei chu an thi zoia.
And Jacob went down [into Egypt]. And he died, he, and our fathers;
16 A ruok hah Shechem khuo an hong chôia, Hamor rûingei renga Abraham'n suma a rochôk thâna han an phûm zoi.
And were brought over into Shechem, and laid in the tomb which Abraham had purchased, for a price of silver, of the sons of Hamor in Shechem.
17 “Abraham kôma Pathien chongkhâm ahongtung rang zora ahong nâi tena ha mingei hah Egypt rama an hong pung zoia.
Now, just as the time of the promise was drawing near wherewith God had agreed with Abraham, the people grew, and were multiplied in Egypt, —

Until there arose another sort of king over Egypt, who had not known Joseph.

The same, dealing craftily with our race, ill-treated our fathers, so as to cause their babes to be exposed, to the end they might not be suffered to live.

In which season, Moses, was born, and was exceeding goodly, —who was nourished up three months in the house of his father;

But, when he was exposed, the daughter of Pharaoh rescued him, and nourished him for herself, as a son.

And, so Moses was trained in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in his words and works.

And, when there was being fulfilled unto him a period of forty years, it came up on his heart to look after his brethren the sons of Israel;

And, seeing one being wronged, he defended him, and avenged him that was getting worn out, smiting the Egyptian.
25 (Moses han, ama mangin Pathien'n a mingei mojôk atih ti a sungsuok ngeiin an riet mini tiin a bôka hannirese riet mak ngei.)
But he supposed his brethren would understand that, God, through his hand, would give them deliverance; whereas they understood not.
26 Anangtûka chu Isreal mi inik insuol lâitak ava tonga ava sel ngeia, ‘Rangâita u sûngsuokngei,’ lâibungrêng kêng nin ni, ithomo hima anga nin insuola? tiin min sûk ngei rang a bôka.
On the following day also, he appeared unto them, as they were contending, and would have reconciled them in peace, saying—Men! ye are, brothers! Wherefore wrong ye one another?
27 A theiloi uolpu han Moses hah a nampaia, ‘Kin chunga ruoipu le roijêkpu rangin tumo nang phun?’ a tia.
But, he that was wronging his neighbour, thrust him away, saying—Who hath appointed, thee, to be ruler and judge over us?
28 ‘Majâna Egypt mi na that angdên han ni that nôk rang no bôk mo?’ a tia.
Art, thou, wishing, to kill me, in the same way thou didst kill, yesterday, the Egyptian?
29 Ma chong hah a riet lehan, Moses a rota, Midian rama ava oma, mahan nâipasal inik a neia.
And Moses fled at this saying, and became a sojourner in the land of Midian, where he begat two sons.
30 “Kum sômminli avun suole chu, Sinai Muol ramchâr kôla chîmbuk akângna han vântîrton a kôm ânlâra.
And, when forty years were fulfilled, there appeared unto him, in the desert of Mount Sinai, a messenger, in a flame of fire, in a bush.
31 Moses'n a neinun mu hah a kamâm tataka, minthâr rang bôkin a va nâia, Pumapa rôl a rieta:
And, Moses, seeing it, marvelled at the sight; and, as he was going near to observe, there came a voice of the Lord—
32 ‘Keima hih ni richibulngei Pathien, Abraham Pathien Isaac Pathien, Jakob Pathien hah ki ni,’ a lei tia, Moses hah ichîn ânnîka en ngam khâi maka.
I, am the God of thy fathers, The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. And Moses becoming, terrified, durst not observe.

And the Lord said unto him—Loose the sandals of thy feet; for, the place whereon thou art standing, is, hallowed ground.

I have, indeed seen, the ill-treatment of my people that is in Egypt, and, unto their groaning, have I hearkened, and have come down to rescue them. Now, therefore, come! I will send thee into Egypt.
35 “Ha Moses kôma ruoipu le roijêkpu rangin tumo nang phun? tia an makhal hah chîmbuk kângna taka vântîrton a kôma inlâr han a sanna, Pathien'n ama lele hah ruoipu le sanminjôkpu ni rangin ai tîr ani.
The same Moses whom they had refused, saying—Who hath appointed thee to be ruler and judge? the same, both as ruler and redeemer, did God send, by the hand of the messenger who had appeared unto him in the bush:
36 Ama han anni hah a ruoisuoka Egypt rama, tuipui sena, ramchâra kum sômminli sûng han Kamânruoi le sininkhêl tamtak thôn a ruoi ngeia.
The same, led them forth, doing wonders and signs in Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the desert, forty years:
37 Moses hah Israel mingei kôm, ‘Pathien'n keima, mi tîr angin nin sûngsuokngei lâia om dêipu nangni la minchang pe atih,’ tipu hah ani.
The same, is the Moses that said unto the sons of Israel—A prophet, unto you, will God raise up, from among your brethren, like unto me:
38 Ama hah ani ramchâra Israel mi intûp ngei lâia oma; ei richibulngei kôma le Sinai muola a chongpuipu vântîrton kôma, eini mi pêk ranga Pathien chong ring lâkpu hah ani.
The same, is he that came to be in the assembly in the desert, with the messenger who was speaking with him in Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, he who welcomed living utterances, to give unto us:
39 “Hannirese ei richibulngei han a chong jôm nuom mak ngeia; ama hah an nampaia male Egypt ram tieng kîr nôk an nuoma.
Unto whom, our fathers would not become obedient, but thrust him away, and turned in their hearts unto Egypt,
40 Masikin Aaron kôm, ‘Kin moton ruoipu rangin pathienngei mi sin pe roh. Moses Egypt ram renga mi ruoipu laka a thurchi reng riet khâi mak meh,’ an tia.
Saying unto Aaron—Make as gods who shall go before us; for, as for this Moses who brought us forth out of Egypt, we know not what hath befallen him!

And so they fell to calf-making in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their hands.
42 Hanchu, Pathien'n anni hah nûk a song ngeia, invâna ârsingei an biek theina rangin a rotsan ngeia, dêipu lekhabua: ‘Israel insung mingei! kum sômminli sûngin ramchâra han inbôlna sa thatin nin pêk ngâi hah keima ni mu ung.
But God, turned, and delivered them up to be doing divine service unto the host of heaven, —just as it is written in a book of the prophets—Victims and sacrifices did ye offer unto me, forty years in the desert, O house of Israel?
43 Molech pathien puon-in nin chôia nin pathien le Rephan nin ârsi pathien; rimilngei hah chubaimûk rangin nin sin ngei hah an ni. Masikin Babylon khêl tieng nangni min tâng ki tih, tia ânziek anghan.’
Nay! but ye took with you the tent of Moloch, and the star of the god Rephan, —the forms which ye made to bow down unto them: therefore will I carry you away beyond Babylon.
44 “Ramchâra han ei richibulngeiin Pathien omna Puon-in an neia, ma in hah Pathien'n Moses kôm sin rangin a bea, a rimil a min mu lam taka sin ani.
The tent of witness, was with our fathers in the desert, according as he who was speaking unto Moses, gave instructions, to make it, according to the model which he had seen.
45 Ha ngei hah ei richibulngei khomin an hong dôn banga, Pathien'n ei richibulngei motona ai not pai nâmngei rama an luo lâihan Joshua lût zorân an lûtpui ani. David a zora tena a oma.
Which our fathers succeeding to, also brought in, with Joshua, when taking possession of the nations, which God put out from before our fathers until the days of David;
46 Ha David hah Pathien mitmua miditin a hong oma, Jacob Pathien ta ranga omna rang sin pe rangin a zonga.
Who found favour before God, and asked to find a habitation for the God of Jacob.
47 Hannirese, in hah chu Solomon'n kêng a sin pe zoi.
But, Solomon, built him a house.
48 “Nikhomrese, Ânchungtak Pathien chu kuta sin in ngeia om ngâi mak; Dêipu'n,
Although indeed, the Most High, not in hand-made places, dwelleth; just as, the prophet, saith—
49 ‘Pumapa'n, invân ke Rêngsukmun ania pilchung ke ke sirna ani. I anga in mo mi ni sin pe rang? Khotieng mo kên ngamna rang mun khom aom?
Heaven is my thrown, and, the earth, is my footstool: What manner of house, will ye build me, saith the Lord, —Or what shall be the place of my resting?
50 Hi neinun murdi hih keima ki sin nimak mo?’
Hath not, my hand, made all these things?
51 “Khodôra mulung ngar mo nin ni! Mulungrîl le kuor in-ongloi sertanloingei anga, nin richibulngei tho ngâi lam angin Ratha Inthieng nin dem tita!
Ye stiff-necked and uncircumcised in hearts and in ears, ye, always, against the Holy Spirit, do strive! As your fathers, ye also:
52 Nin richibulngeiin, dêipungei lâia tumo dûkmintong loia an dar? midik tak juong rang lei juong ril Pathien tîrtonngei hah an thata, atûn nangni hih mi min sûrpu le a thatpu nin ni hi.
Which of the prophets, did not your fathers persecute? Yea they slew them who declared beforehand concerning the coming of the Righteous One—of whom, now, ye, have become, betrayers and murderers!
53 Nangni hi Pathien balam, vântîrtonngeiin an juong thak muchaka jômloi ngei nin ni!” a tia.
Who, indeed, received the law through ranks of messengers, —and guarded it not.
54 Roijêkpungei han Stephan chong hah an rietin chu an takasia, a chunga an rakam an tâta.
And, while they were hearing these things, they were being pierced in their hearts, and began gnashing their teeth against him.
55 Hannirese, Stephan hah Ratha Inthienga sip ania, invân tieng a en ngita, Pathien roiinpuina le a changtienga Jisua inding a mua.
But he, being already full of Holy Spirit, looking steadfastly into heaven, saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God;
56 “En ta u! invân in-ong ku mua, Pathien changtienga Miriem Nâipasal inding ku mu!” a tia.
And said—Lo! I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man, standing, on the right hand of God.
57 Hanchu, roijêkpungei han inringtakin an inieka, an kutngei leh an kuorngei an hîpa. Hanchu ha renghan a tieng an tâna.
And, crying out with a loud voice, they held their ears, and rushed with one accord upon him;
58 Khopuilien sûng renga an mojôk paia, lungin an dênga rietpuipungei han ruotharte inkhat a riming Sual an tih kôm han an puon an mâka.
And, thrusting him forth outside the city, proceeded to stone him. And, the witnesses, laid their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.
59 Lungin an dêng lâiin Stephan'n Pumapa a koia, “Pumapa Jisua ka Ratha lâk ta roh,” a tia.
And they stoned Stephen, as he was invoking and saying—Lord Jesus! give welcome unto my spirit.
60 Khûk ânbila, rôl inringtakin ânieka, “Pumapa! hi an sietna hih riet pe ngei khâi no roh!” a tia. Ha chongbâi hah a ti suole chu a thi zoi.
And, kneeling down, he cried out with a loud voice—Lord! do not charge against them, this sin. And, having said this, he fell asleep.
