I want you to bear in mind, friends, that all our ancestors were beneath the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

2 Sûm le tuipuia han Moses nûkjûingei nitheina rangin anrêngin baptis changin an om ani.

that in the cloud and in the sea they all underwent baptism as followers of Moses;

3 Anrêngin rathatienga bu munkhatin an nêka,

and that they all ate the same supernatural food,

4 munkhatin rathatienga tui an nêka. Anni ngei leh sepuipu rathatienga lungpui renga tui an nêka; ma lungpui hah Khrista ani.

and all drank the same supernatural water, for they used to drink from a supernatural rock which followed them, and that rock was the Christ.

5 Aniatachu an lâia mi tam uol chunga chu Pathien mulunghoi maka, ramchâra han an ruok ânzamnung ani.

Yet with most of them God was displeased; for they were struck down in the desert.

6 Atûn, ma ngei hah eini ranga minenna ani, neinun saloi ngei an ngâitui angin ei ngâitui loina rang le

Now these things happened as warnings to us, to teach us not to long for evil things as our ancestors longed.

7 an lâia mi senkhat mirimilngei an biek angin ei biek loina rangin. Pathien lekhabu'n, “Mingei ha ruolhoia sâk rangin an insunga, hannirese junêk le indit hoiinhâinân an inlet nôk” ati angin.

Do not become idolaters, as some of them became. Scripture says – ‘The people sat down to eat and drink, and stood up to dance.’

8 An lâia mi senkhatin inditnasaloi an songa, sûnkhat sûngin mi isâng sômnikleithum an thi anghan eini chu inditna saloi song no uh.

Nor let us act immorally, as some of them acted, with the result that twenty-three thousand of them fell dead in a single day.

9 An lâia mi senkhat Pumapa an minsina, murûlin amuchuk that ngei ok anghan minsin no uh.

Nor let us try the patience of the Lord too far, as some of them tried it, with the result that they were, one after another, destroyed by snakes.

10 An lâia mi senkhat Pathien kôm an chiera, Thina Vântîrtonin a minmang ngei anghan chier no uh.

And do not murmur, as some of them murmured, and so were destroyed by the angel of death.

11 Ma an chunga neinun tung ngei murdi hah midangngei rangin minennangei ania, eini zora monga lêng ngei inningna ranga mangei ha miziek ani. (aiōn g165)

These things happened to them by way of warning, and were recorded to serve as a caution to us, in whose days the close of the ages has come. (aiōn g165)

12 Adettaka inding nin ni tiin nin mindonin chu nin inlet loina rangin indîn roi.

Therefore let the person who thinks that they stand take care that they do not fall.

13 Huongna nin tong ngei murdi hah mingei tuong ngâi tena ani. Pathien chu a chonginkhâma iem aom sikin nin phari loi rang dôr chu huongna nin tong rang phal no nih; huongna nin tuong zorân tuongdierna ranak nangni pêk a ta, male huongna jôkna lampui khom nangni sin pe atih.

No temptation has come upon you that is not common to all humanity. God will not fail you, and he will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength; but, when he sends the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, so that you may have strength to endure.

14 Masikin, ku ruol moroitak ngei, mirimilngei biek hih mâk ta roi.

Therefore, my dear friends, shun the worship of idols.

15 Arietvar mingei kôma misîr anghan nin kôm ki misîr ani; ku thurchi misîr hih mindon roi.

I speak to you as man of discernment; form your own judgment about what I am saying.

16 Satvurna khuri chunga Pathien kôm râisânchong ei misîr ngâi: ei nêkin Khrista thisen hah ên sempuina ani. Male vâipôl ei khoi ngâi ha: ei sâk khom hih Khrista takpum ên sempuina ani.

In the cup of blessing which we bless, is not there a sharing in the blood of the Christ? And in the bread which we break, is not there a sharing in the body of the Christ?

17 Vâipôl hih tâpkhat ani angin, eini hih mi tamtak ni khom ila, vâipôl tâpkhat renga ei rêngin ei chang pak sikin takpum inkhat ei ni.

The bread is one, and we, though many, are one body; for we all partake of that one bread.

18 Israel mingei hah en ta u, inbôlna neinunpêka om sâk ngei han mâichâma Pathien sin hah an insempui ani.

Look at the people of Israel. Do not those who eat the sacrifices share with the altar?

19 Mirimil aninônchu a kôma sâk pêka om hah neinun kâmom ki tina mo?

What do I mean? That an offering made to an idol, or the idol itself, is anything?

20 Nimak! ki ti chu sonongngei mâichâmngeia inbôlna hah Pathien kôm niloiin ramkhoringei kôm kêng an pêk ani. Ramkhoringei leh lôminchang rangin chu nangni phal tet mu-ung.

No; what I say is that the sacrifices offered by the Gentiles are offered to demons and to a being who is no God, and I do not want you to share with demons.

21 Pumapa khuri le ramkhoringei khuri nêk molop thei no tunui; Pumapa dosâng le ramkhoringei dosâng khom sâk molop thei no tunui.

You cannot drink both the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake at the table of the Lord and at the table of demons.

22 Aninônchu Pumapa hah ei min nuor rang mo? Ama nêka rât uolin ên be mini?

Or are we to rouse the jealousy of the Lord? Are we stronger than he?

23 “Jâttin tho thei rangin phal ei ni,” an ti anghan. Adik, hannirese jâttin nâm sa let mak. “Jâttin tho thei rangin phal ei ni,” aniatachu jâttin hi satna ni let mak.

Everything is allowable! Yes, but everything is not profitable. Everything is allowable! Yes, but everything does not build up character.

24 Tutu khom athei vaia satna rang vai rok loiin midang satna rang rok rese.

A person must not study their own interests, but the interests of others.

25 Me bazara an zuor kai chu ite rekel loiin nin sielesarietna sikin sâk roi.

Eat anything that is sold in the market, without making inquiries to satisfy your scruples;

26 Pathien lekhabu'n, “Pilchung le asûnga omngei murdi hih Pumapa ta ani,” ati sikin.

for the earth, with all that is in it, belongs to the Lord.

27 Sonong inkhatin bunêk rang nangni a sielin se ta ungla, nangni a do kai chu rekel tet loiin nin sielesarietna sikin sâk roi.

If an unbeliever invites you to his house and you consent to go, eat anything that is put before you, without making inquiries to satisfy your scruples.

28 Aniatachu tumakatin, “Hi sâk hih mirimil kôma pêksai ani,” tiin nangni a rilin chu nangni rilpu sik le ama sielesarietna sikin sâk no roi

But, if anyone should say to you ‘This has been offered in sacrifice to an idol,’ then, for the sake of the speaker and his scruples, do not eat it.

29 ma hih nin sielesarietna ki ti nimaka, midangngei sielesarietna ki ti kêng. “Asa, hanchu,” senkhatin, “Iranga midang sielesarietna han ka zalena tentana mi sin pe mini? tiin an rekel ngâi ani.

I do not say your scruples, but his. For why should the freedom that I claim be condemned by the scruples of another?

30 Ka sâk chunga Pathien kôm râisânchong ki misîr sai piel ha irang mo mîn min la êro ngâi hi?”

If, for my part, I take the food thankfully, why should I be abused for eating that for which I give thanks?

31 Asa, ma anghan nin sin murdi, nin sâk le nin nêk murdi, Pathien roiinpuina rangin tho roi.

Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do everything to the honor of God.

32 Judangei, Jentailngei le Pathien koiindangngei ta ranga bâiinkhamna nin niloina rang lam takin om roi.

Do not cause offense either to Jews or Greeks or to the church of God;

33 Ko tho angtak hin tho roi; Keima rang satna rok loiin, sanminring an ni theina ranga mi murdi satna rang rokin, ki sinthona nâma mi murdi râiminsân rangin ki mindon ngâi ani.

for I, also, try to please everybody in everything, not seeking my own advantage, but do what is best for others, so that they may be saved.
