1 И было слово Господне к Ионе вторично:
And the word of the Lord was maad the secounde tyme to Jonas, and seide, Rise thou,
2 встань, иди в Ниневию, город великий, и проповедуй в ней, что Я повелел тебе.
and go in to Nynyue, the greet citee, and preche thou in it the prechyng which Y speke to thee.
3 И встал Иона и пошел в Ниневию, по слову Господню; Ниневия же была город великий у Бога, на три дня ходьбы.
And Jonas roos, and wente in to Nynyue, bi the word of the Lord. And Nynyue was a greet citee, of the iurnei of thre daies.
4 И начал Иона ходить по городу, сколько можно пройти в один день, и проповедывал, говоря: еще сорок дней, и Ниневия будет разрушена!
And Jonas bigan for to entre in to the citee, bi the iornei of o dai, and criede, and seide, Yit fourti daies, and Nynyue schal be `turned vpsodoun.
5 И поверили Ниневитяне Богу, и объявили пост, и оделись во вретища, от большого из них до малого.
And men of Nynyue bileueden to the Lord, and prechiden fastyng, and weren clothid with sackis, fro the more `til to the lesse.
6 Это слово дошло до царя Ниневии, и он встал с престола своего, и снял с себя царское облачение свое, и оделся во вретище, и сел на пепле,
And the word cam til to the kyng of Nynyue; and he roos of his seete, and castide awei his clothing fro him, and was clothid with a sak, and sat in aische.
7 и повелел провозгласить и сказать в Ниневии от имени царя и вельмож его: “чтобы ни люди, ни скот, ни волы, ни овцы ничего не ели, не ходили на пастбище и воды не пили,
And he criede, and seide in Nynyue of the mouth of the kyng and of `his princis, `and seide, Men, and werk beestis, and oxun, and scheep taaste not ony thing, nether be fed, nether drynke watir.
8 и чтобы покрыты были вретищем люди и скот и крепко вопияли к Богу, и чтобы каждый обратился от злого пути своего и от насилия рук своих.
And men be hilid with sackis, and werk beestis crie to the Lord in strengthe; `and be a man conuertid fro his yuel weie, and fro wickidnesse that is in the hondis of hem.
9 Кто знает, может быть, еще Бог умилосердится и отвратит от нас пылающий гнев Свой, и мы не погибнем”.
Who woot, if God be conuertid, and foryyue, and be turned ayen fro woodnesse of his wraththe, and we schulen not perische?
10 И увидел Бог дела их, что они обратились от злого пути своего, и пожалел Бог о бедствии, о котором сказал, что наведет на них, и не навел.
And God sai the werkis of hem, that thei weren conuertid fro her yuel weie; and God hadde merci on the malice which he spac, that he schulde do to hem, and did not.
