Иов 29
1 И продолжал Иов возвышенную речь свою и сказал:
And Job continued and said in his parable,
2 о, если бы я был, как в прежние месяцы, как в те дни, когда Бог хранил меня,
Oh that I were as in months past, wherein God preserved me!
3 когда светильник Его светил над головою моею, и я при свете Его ходил среди тьмы;
As when his lamp shone over my head; when by his light I walked through darkness.
4 как был я во дни молодости моей, когда милость Божия была над шатром моим,
[As] when I steadfastly pursued my ways, when God took care of my house.
5 когда еще Вседержитель был со мною, и дети мои вокруг меня,
When I was very fruitful, and my children were about me;
6 когда пути мои обливались молоком, и скала источала для меня ручьи елея!
when my ways were moistened with butter, and the mountains flowed for me with milk.
7 когда я выходил к воротам города и на площади ставил седалище свое, -
When I went forth early in the city, and the seat was placed for me in the streets.
8 юноши, увидев меня, прятались, а старцы вставали и стояли;
The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and all the old men stood up.
9 князья удерживались от речи и персты полагали на уста свои;
And the great men ceased speaking, and laid their finger on their mouth.
10 голос знатных умолкал, и язык их прилипал к гортани их.
And they that heard [me] blessed me, and their tongue clave to their throat.
11 Ухо, слышавшее меня, ублажало меня; око видевшее восхваляло меня,
For the ear heard, and blessed me; and the eye saw me, and turned aside.
12 потому что я спасал страдальца вопиющего и сироту беспомощного.
For I saved the poor out of the hand of the oppressor, and helped the fatherless who had no helper.
13 Благословение погибавшего приходило на меня, и сердцу вдовы доставлял я радость.
Let the blessing of the perishing one come upon me; yes, the mouth of the widow has blessed me.
14 Я облекался в правду, и суд мой одевал меня, как мантия и увясло.
Also I put on righteousness, and clothed myself with judgment like a mantle.
15 Я был глазами слепому и ногами хромому;
I was the eye of the blind, and the foot of the lame.
16 отцом был я для нищих и тяжбу, которой я не знал, разбирал внимательно.
I was the father of the helpless; and I searched out the cause which I knew not.
17 Сокрушал я беззаконному челюсти и из зубов его исторгал похищенное.
And I broke the jaw teeth of the unrighteous; I plucked the spoil out of the midst of their teeth.
18 И говорил я: в гнезде моем скончаюсь, и дни мои будут многи, как песок;
And I said, My age shall continue as the stem of a palm tree; I shall live a long while.
19 корень мой открыт для воды, и роса ночует на ветвях моих;
[My] root was spread out by the water, and the dew would lodge on my crop.
20 слава моя не стареет, лук мой крепок в руке моей.
My glory was fresh in me, and by bow prospered in his hand.
21 Внимали мне и ожидали, и безмолвствовали при совете моем.
[Men] heard me, and gave heed, and they were silent at my counsel.
22 После слов моих уже не рассуждали; речь моя капала на них.
At my word they spoke not again, and they were very gland whenever I spoke to them.
23 Ждали меня, как дождя, и, как дождю позднему, открывали уста свои.
As the thirsty earth expecting the rain, so they [waited for] my speech.
24 Бывало, улыбнусь им - они не верят; и света лица моего они не помрачали.
Were I to laugh on them, they would not believe [it]; and the light of my face has not failed.
25 Я назначал пути им и сидел во главе и жил как царь в кругу воинов, как утешитель плачущих.
I chose out their way, and sat chief, and lived as a king in the midst of warriors, as one comforting mourners.
