Romani 13
1 Fiecare suflet să se supună autorităților superioare, căci nu există autoritate decât de la Dumnezeu, iar cele ce există sunt rânduite de Dumnezeu.
Let every soul submit to the governing authorities, because there is no authority except under God, and the existing authorities have been placed by God.
2 De aceea, cel care se împotrivește autorității se împotrivește rânduielii lui Dumnezeu; iar cei care se împotrivesc vor primi pentru ei înșiși judecata.
Therefore whoever resists the authority is opposed to God's ordinance, and those who oppose will bring judgment on themselves.
3 Căci conducătorii nu sunt o teroare pentru fapta bună, ci pentru cea rea. Doriți să nu vă temeți de autoritate? Fă ceea ce este bun, și vei avea parte de laudă din partea autorității,
Now rulers are not a terror to good deeds but to bad ones. So if you wish not to fear the authority, do the good and you will have praise from the same;
4 căci ea este un slujitor al lui Dumnezeu pentru tine, spre bine. Dar dacă faci ceea ce este rău, teme-te, căci nu degeaba poartă sabia, căci este un slujitor al lui Dumnezeu, răzbunător pentru mânia celui care face răul.
because it is God's minister to you with a view to the good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not bear the sword for nothing; because it is God's minister, an avenger with a view to wrath on the wrongdoer.
5 De aceea trebuie să vă supuneți, nu numai din cauza mâniei, ci și din cauza conștiinței.
Therefore it is necessary to submit, not only because of the wrath, but also because of the conscience.
6 De aceea și voi plătiți impozite, pentru că sunt slujitori ai lui Dumnezeu, care fac în permanență tocmai acest lucru.
This is precisely why you pay taxes, for they are God's servants, continually attending on this very thing.
7 De aceea, dați fiecăruia ceea ce îi este dator: dacă datorați impozite, plătiți impozitele; dacă aveți vameși, atunci vameși; dacă aveți respect, atunci respect; dacă aveți onoare, atunci onoare.
Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes, customs to whom customs, respect to whom respect, honor to whom honor.
8 Să nu datorați nimănui nimic, decât să vă iubiți unii pe alții; căci cine iubește pe aproapele său a împlinit Legea.
Owe no one anything except to love one another, since he who loves the other has fulfilled the law.
9 Căci poruncile: “Să nu comiți adulter”, “Să nu ucizi”, “Să nu furi”, “Să nu poftești” și orice alte porunci ar mai fi, toate se rezumă la acest cuvânt, și anume: “Să iubești pe aproapele tău ca pe tine însuți”.
Because—“You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever further commandment—everything is summed up in this word, namely: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
10 Dragostea nu face rău aproapelui. Prin urmare, iubirea este împlinirea legii.
Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
11 Fă aceasta, știind că a sosit deja vremea să te trezești din somn, căci mântuirea este mai aproape de noi decât atunci când am crezut.
Besides this, knowing the time, it is high time for us to be awakened from sleep, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.
12 Noaptea este departe, și ziua este aproape. Să ne lepădăm deci de faptele întunericului și să ne îmbrăcăm cu armura luminii.
The night is nearly over, and the day is near; so let us get rid of the works of the darkness, and let us put on the weapons of the light.
13 Să umblăm cum se cuvine, ca în timpul zilei; nu în desfrâu și beție, nu în promiscuitate sexuală și acte de desfrânare, nu în certuri și gelozie.
Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual orgies and licentiousness, not in strife and jealousy.
14 Ci îmbrăcați-vă în Domnul Isus Hristos și nu faceți niciun fel de provizii pentru carne, pentru poftele ei.
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, with a view to lusts.
