Efeseni 5
1 Fiți deci imitatori ai lui Dumnezeu, ca niște copii iubiți.
Become ye, therefore, imitators of God, as children beloved,
2 Umblați în dragoste, după cum și Hristos ne-a iubit pe noi și S-a dat pe Sine însuși pentru noi, ca jertfă și ca sacrificiu pentru Dumnezeu, ca o mireasmă de bun miros.
And walk in love—even as, the Christ also, loved you, and delivered himself up in your behalf, an offering and sacrifice unto God, for a fragrance of sweet smell.
3 Dar nici măcar să nu se pomenească între voi, cum se cuvine sfinților, de desfrânare sexuală și de orice necurăție sau lăcomie,
But, fornication, and all impurity, or covetousness, let it not be named among you—even as becometh saints;
4 nici de spurcăciune, nici de vorbărie prostească, nici de glume, care nu se cuvin, ci de mulțumiri.
And shamelessness and foolish talking, or jesting, —which things are beneath you, —but, rather, giving of thanks;
5 Să știi că nici un desfrânat, nici un necurat, nici un lacom, nici un idolatru nu are moștenire în Împărăția lui Hristos și a lui Dumnezeu.
For, this, ye know, if ye take note—that no fornicator, or impure or greedy person, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and God.
6 Nimeni să nu vă amăgească cu vorbe deșarte, căci din pricina acestor lucruri vine mânia lui Dumnezeu peste copiii neascultătorilor.
Let no one be deceiving you with empty words; for, because of these things, is coming the anger of God upon the sons of obstinacy:
7 De aceea, nu fiți părtași la ei.
Do not, then, become co-partners with them;
8 Căci odinioară erați întuneric, dar acum sunteți lumină în Domnul. Umblați ca niște copii ai luminii,
For ye were, at one time, darkness, but, now, are ye light in the Lord, —as children of light, be walking,
9 căci roada Duhului este în toată bunătatea, dreptatea și adevărul,
For, the fruit of the light, is in all goodness, and righteousness, and truth, —
10 dovedind ceea ce este plăcut Domnului.
Putting to the test what is well-pleasing unto the Lord;
11 Nu aveți nici o părtășie cu faptele fără roade ale întunericului, ci mai degrabă chiar le mustrați.
And be not joining in fellowship in the unfruitful works of darkness, but, rather, be even administering reproof;
12 Căci este o rușine chiar să vorbești despre lucrurile pe care le fac ei în ascuns.
For, of the secret things which are brought to pass by them, it is, shameful, even to speak!
13 Dar toate lucrurile, când sunt mustrate, sunt descoperite de lumină, căci tot ce descoperă este lumină.
All things, however, when reproved by the light, become manifest, for, all that of itself maketh manifest, is, light;
14 De aceea zice: “Deșteaptă-te, tu, care dormi, și scoală-te din morți, și Hristos va străluci peste tine.”
Wherefore it saith—Up! thou sleeper, and arise from among the dead, and the Christ will shine upon thee.
15 De aceea, păziți-vă bine cum umblați, nu ca niște neînțelepți, ci ca niște înțelepți,
Be taking heed, therefore, exactly how ye are walking, —not as unwise, but as wise, —
16 răscumpărând timpul, căci zilele sunt rele.
Buying out for yourselves the opportunity, because, the days, are evil;
17 De aceea, nu fiți nebuni, ci înțelegeți care este voia Domnului.
For this cause, do not become foolish, but have discernment as to what is the will of the Lord;
18 Nu vă îmbătați cu vin, în care este risipire, ci umpleți-vă de Duhul Sfânt,
And be not getting drunk with wine, in which is dissoluteness, but be getting filled in Spirit; —
19 vorbindu-vă unul altuia în psalmi, imnuri și cântări spirituale, cântând și făcând în inima voastră cântece de mulțumire Domnului,
Speaking to yourselves, with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs; singing, and striking the strings, with your heart unto the Lord;
20 mulțumind întotdeauna lui Dumnezeu, Tatăl, în numele Domnului nostru Isus Hristos, cu privire la toate lucrurile,
Giving thanks, always, for all things, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, unto your God and Father;
21 supunându-vă unul altuia în frica lui Hristos.
Submitting yourselves one to another in reverence of Christ, —
22 Neveste, supuneți-vă bărbaților voștri, ca Domnului.
Ye wives, unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord,
23 Căci soțul este capul soției, după cum și Hristos este capul adunării, fiind El însuși mântuitorul trupului.
Because, a husband, is the head of his wife, as, the Christ also, is the head of the assembly, he, being the saviour of the body, —
24 Dar, după cum Adunarea este supusă lui Hristos, tot așa și soțiile să fie supuse în totul propriilor lor soți.
Nevertheless, as, the assembly, submitteth herself unto the Christ, so, the wives, unto their husbands, in everything:
25 Bărbaților, iubiți-vă nevestele, după cum și Hristos a iubit Adunarea și S-a dat pe Sine însuși pentru ea,
Ye husbands, be loving your wives, even as, the Christ also, loved the assembly, and delivered, himself, up in her behalf,
26 ca să o sfințească, după ce a curățat-o prin spălarea cu apă și cu cuvântul,
That, her, he might sanctify, having purified [her] with the bath of water, in declaration,
27 ca să Se înfățișeze pe Sine însuși în chip glorios, fără pată, fără riduri sau altceva de acest fel, ci ca să fie sfântă și fără cusur.
That, he, might present, unto himself, the assembly, all glorious, not having spot or wrinkle or any of such things, but that she should be holy and blameless;
28 Tot așa și soții trebuie să iubească pe soțiile lor ca pe propriile lor trupuri. Cel care își iubește propria soție se iubește pe sine însuși.
So, ought the husbands [also] to be loving their own wives, as their own bodies, —he that loveth his own wife, loveth himself,
29 Căci nimeni nu și-a urât vreodată propriul trup, ci îl hrănește și îl îngrijește, așa cum face și Domnul cu adunarea,
No one, in fact, ever yet hated, his own flesh, but nourisheth and cherisheth it, —even as, the Christ, the assembly,
30 pentru că suntem mădulare ale trupului său, din carnea și oasele sale.
Because, members, are we of his body; —
31 “Pentru aceasta, omul va lăsa pe tatăl său și pe mama sa și se va uni cu soția sa. Atunci cei doi vor deveni un singur trup.”
For this cause, will a man leave his father and his mother, and will cleave unto his wife, and, they two, shall become, one flesh.
32 Acest mister este mare, dar eu vorbesc despre Cristos și despre Adunare.
This sacred secret, is, great, —I, however, am speaking as to Christ and [as to] the assembly; —
33 Cu toate acestea, fiecare dintre voi trebuie să-și iubească și el soția ca pe sine însuși; iar soția să vadă că își respectă soțul.
Nevertheless, ye also, do ye, individually, each man be so loving, his own wife, as himself, and, the wife, [see] that she reverence her husband.
