1 Tesaloniceni 2
1 Căci voi înșivă știți, fraților, că vizita noastră la voi nu a fost în zadar,
For, yourselves, know, brethren, our entrance which was unto you—that it hath not proved void;
2 ci, după cum știți, după ce am suferit mai înainte și am fost tratați cu rușine la Filipi, am căpătat îndrăzneală în Dumnezeul nostru, ca să vă vestim vestea cea bună a lui Dumnezeu, în multe conflicte.
But, though we had previously suffered, and been insulted, even as ye know, in Philippi, we waxed bold in our God to speak unto you the glad-message of God with much conflict.
3 Căci îndemnul nostru nu este din eroare, nici din necurăție, nici în înșelăciune.
For, our exhortation, is not of error, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile,
4 Ci, așa cum am fost aprobați de Dumnezeu să ni se încredințeze Vestea cea Bună, așa vorbim — nu ca să fim pe placul oamenilor, ci al lui Dumnezeu, care ne încearcă inimile.
But, even as we have been approved by God, to be entrusted with the glad-message, so, we speak, —not as, unto men, giving pleasure, but unto God—who proveth our hearts.
5 Căci nu am fost găsiți niciodată folosind cuvinte de lingușire, după cum știți, nici o mantie de lăudăroșenie (Dumnezeu este martor),
For neither at any time were we found, using words of flattery, —even as ye know, nor a pretext for greed—God, is witness!
6 nici căutând slava oamenilor (nici de la voi, nici de la alții), atunci când am fi putut pretinde autoritate ca apostoli ai lui Hristos.
Nor, of men, seeking glory—either from you, or from others, though we could have assumed, dignity, as Apostles of Christ;
7 Ci am fost blânzi printre voi, așa cum o mamă care alăptează își îngrijește proprii copii.
But we became gentle in your midst, —as though, a nursing mother, had been cherishing her own children:
8 Și chiar așa, dorind cu drag de voi, am binevoit să vă împărtășim nu numai vestea cea bună a lui Dumnezeu, ci și sufletele noastre, pentru că ne-ați devenit foarte dragi.
Thus, yearning after you, we could have been well-pleased to impart unto you—not only the glad-message of God, but, our own lives also, —because, very dear to us, had ye become.
9 Căci vă amintiți, fraților, de munca și de osteneala noastră; căci, lucrând zi și noapte, ca să nu împovărăm pe niciunul dintre voi, v-am propovăduit Buna Vestire a lui Dumnezeu.
For ye remember, brethren, our toil and hardship: night and day, working, so as not to be a burden unto any of you, we proclaimed unto you the glad-message of God,
10 Voi sunteți martori înaintea lui Dumnezeu cât de sfânt, drept și fără vină ne-am purtat față de voi, cei care credeți.
Ye, are witnesses—God also, how kindly and righteously and blamelessly, unto you who were believing, we were found to behave;
11 După cum știți, am îndemnat, am mângâiat și am implorat pe fiecare dintre voi, ca un tată pe copiii săi,
Even as ye know how, unto each one of you, we were as a father unto his own children, consoling you, and soothing, and calling to witness, —
12 pentru ca voi să umblați în mod demn de Dumnezeu, care vă cheamă în Împărăția și gloria sa.
To the end ye might be walking in a manner worthy of God, who is calling you unto his own kingdom and glory,
13 De aceea și noi mulțumim neîncetat lui Dumnezeu că, atunci când ați primit de la noi cuvântul mesajului lui Dumnezeu, nu l-ați primit ca pe un cuvânt omenesc, ci ca pe un cuvânt adevărat, cuvântul lui Dumnezeu, care lucrează și în voi, cei ce credeți.
And, for this cause, we, are also giving thanks unto God unceasingly, that, when ye received a spoken word from us—which was God’s, ye welcomed it—not as a human word, but, even as it truly is, a divine word, —which is also inwardly working itself in you who believe.
14 Căci voi, fraților, v-ați făcut imitatori ai adunărilor lui Dumnezeu care sunt în Iudeea, în Hristos Isus; pentru că și voi ați suferit de la compatrioții voștri aceleași lucruri ca și ei de la iudeii
For, ye, became, imitators, brethren, of the assemblies of God which are in Judaea, in Christ Jesus, in that, the same things, ye, also suffered by your own fellow-countrymen, even as, they, also by the Jews:
15 care l-au ucis atât pe Domnul Isus, cât și pe proprii lor profeți, și ne-au alungat pe noi, și nu-i plac lui Dumnezeu și sunt potrivnici tuturor oamenilor,
Who have both slain the, Lord, Jesus—and the prophets, and, us, have persecuted, and, unto God, are displeasing, and, unto all men, are contrary, —
16 interzicându-ne să vorbim neamurilor ca să se mântuiască, ca să le umplem mereu păcatele. Dar mânia a venit peste ei până la capăt.
Hindering us from speaking, unto the nations, that they might be saved, to the filling up of their own sins, continually; but anger hath overtaken them at length.
17 Dar noi, fraților, care am fost lipsiți de voi pentru puțin timp, nu în inimă, ci în prezență, am încercat și mai mult să vă vedem fața cu mare dorință,
Now, we, brethren, having been bereaved away from you, for the season of an hour, —in presence, not in heart, gave more abundant diligence, your face, to behold, with much longing;
18 pentru că am vrut să venim la voi, și eu, Pavel, o dată și încă o dată, dar Satana ne-a împiedicat.
Wherefore, we desired to come unto you—even, I, Paul, both once and again, —and, Satan, thwarted us.
19 Căci care este speranța noastră, sau bucuria, sau cununa bucuriei? Nu ești chiar tu, înaintea Domnului nostru Isus, la venirea sa?
For what shall be our hope, or joy, or crown of boasting? Shall not even, ye, before our Lord Jesus, in his Presence?
20 Căci tu ești gloria și bucuria noastră.
Ye, in fact, are our glory and joy.
