Еклезиастул 10
1 Муштеле моарте стрикэ ши акреск унтделемнул негусторулуй де унсорь; тот аша, пуцинэ небуние бируе ынцелепчуня ши слава.
Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth an offensive odor: [so doth] a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom [and] honor.
2 Инима ынцелептулуй есте ла дряпта луй, яр инима небунулуй, ла стынга луй.
A wise man's heart [is] at his right hand; but a fool's heart [is] at his left.
3 Ши пе орьче друм ар мерӂе небунул, песте тот ый липсеште минтя ши спуне тутурор кэ есте ун небун!
Also, when he that is a fool walketh by the way, his wisdom faileth [him], and he saith to every one [that] he [is] a fool.
4 Кынд избукнеште ымпотрива та мыния челуй че стэпынеште, ну-ць пэрэси локул, кэч сынӂеле рече те пэзеште де марь пэкате.
If the spirit of the ruler riseth against thee, leave not thy place; for yielding pacifieth great offenses.
5 Есте ун рэу пе каре л-ам вэзут суб соаре, ка о грешялэ каре вине де ла чел че кырмуеште:
There is an evil [which] I have seen under the sun, as an error [which] proceedeth from the ruler:
6 небуния есте пусэ ын дрегэторий ыналте, яр богаций стау ын локурь де жос.
Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place.
7 Ам вэзут робь кэлэрь ши воевозь мергынд пе жос, ка ниште робь.
I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth.
8 Чине сапэ гроапа алтуя каде ел ын еа ши чине сурпэ ун зид ва фи мушкат де ун шарпе.
He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoever breaketh a hedge, a serpent shall bite him.
9 Чине сфэрымэ петре есте рэнит де еле ши чине деспикэ лемне есте ын примеждие.
Whoever removeth stones shall be hurt by them; [and] he that cleaveth wood shall be endangered by it.
10 Кынд се точеште ферул ши рэмыне неаскуцит, требуе сэ-ць ындоешть путериле; де ачея ла избындэ ажунӂь прин ынцелепчуне.
If the iron is blunt, and he doth not whet the edge, then must he use more strength: but wisdom [is] profitable to direct.
11 Кынд мушкэ шарпеле фииндкэ н-а фост врэжит, врэжиторул н-аре ничун кыштиг дин мештешугул луй.
Surely the serpent will bite without enchantment; and a babbler is no better.
12 Кувинтеле унуй ынцелепт сунт плэкуте, дар бузеле небунулуй ый адук пеиря.
The words of a wise man's mouth [are] gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.
13 Чел динтый кувынт каре-й есе дин гурэ есте небуние, ши чел дин урмэ есте о небуние ши май ря.
The beginning of the words of his mouth [is] foolishness: and the end of his talk [is] mischievous madness.
14 Небунул спуне о мулциме де ворбе, мэкар кэ омул ну штие че се ва ынтымпла. Ши чине-й ва спуне че ва фи дупэ ел?
A fool also is full of words: a man cannot tell what shall be; and what shall be after him, who can tell him?
15 Труда небунулуй обосеште пе чел че ну куноаште друмул спре четате.
The labor of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city.
16 Вай де тине, царэ ал кэрей ымпэрат есте ун копил ши ай кэрей воевозь бенкетуеск де диминяцэ!
Woe to thee, O land, when thy king [is] a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!
17 Фериче де тине, царэ ал кэрей ымпэрат есте де ням маре ши ай кэрей воевозь мэнынкэ ла время потривитэ, ка сэ-шь ынтэряскэ путериле, ну ка сэ се дедя ла бецие!
Blessed [art] thou, O land, when thy king [is] the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!
18 Кынд мыниле сунт ленеше, се ласэ гринда, ши кынд се леневеск мыниле, плоуэ ын касэ.
By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.
19 Оспецеле се фак пентру петречере, винул ынвеселеште вяца, яр арӂинтул ле дэ пе тоате.
A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all [things].
20 Ну блестема пе ымпэрат нич кяр ын гынд ши ну блестема пе чел богат ын одая ын каре те кулчь, кэч с-ар путя ынтымпла ка пасэря черулуй сэ-ць дукэ ворба ши ун сол ынарипат сэ-ць дя пе фацэ ворбеле.
Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bed-chamber: for a bird of the air will carry the voice, and that which hath wings will tell the matter.
