Sofonia 3
1 Vai celei murdare şi întinate, cetăţii asupritoare!
Woe to the rebellious and unclean city of oppression,
2 Ea nu a ascultat de acea voce; nu a primit disciplinarea; nu s-a încrezut în DOMNUL; nu s-a apropiat de Dumnezeul ei.
She has not obeyed the voice, she has not accepted instruction, In the Lord she has not trusted, to her God she has not drawn near.
3 Prinţii dinlăuntrul ei sunt lei răcnind; judecătorii ei sunt lupi de seară; ei nu rod oasele până ziua următoare.
Her rulers in her midst are roaring lions. Her judges are evening wolves, who leave nothing over until the morning,
4 Profeţii ei sunt persoane uşoare şi perfide; preoţii ei au întinat sanctuarul, ei au încălcat legea.
Her prophets are braggarts, faithless men. Her priests profane what is holy and do violence to the law.
5 DOMNUL cel drept este în mijlocul ei; el nu va face nelegiuire, în fiecare dimineaţă el îşi aduce judecata la lumină, el nu eşuează; dar cel nedrept nu cunoaşte ruşine.
The Lord is righteous in her midst, he does no wrong, Morning by morning he establishes his decree, Light is not lacking, an oversight is unknown. But the unjust know no shame.
6 Eu am stârpit naţiunile, turnurile lor sunt pustiite; eu le-am risipit străzile, încât nimeni nu trece pe acolo; cetăţile lor sunt distruse, încât nu este niciun om, nu este niciun locuitor.
‘I have cut off nations, their turrets are destroyed; I have laid waste their broad streets, so that none passes over them. Desolate are their cities without people, without inhabitants.’
7 Am spus: Sigur te vei teme de mine, vei primi instruirea; astfel încât locuinţa lor să nu fie stârpită, oricum i-am pedepsit, dar ei s-au sculat devreme şi şi-au corupt toate facerile lor.
I said: ‘Surely the city will fear me, she will accept instruction. Nothing will vanish from her eyes that I have impressed upon her; But the more zealously have they made all their deeds corrupt.’
8 De aceea, aşteptaţi-mă, spune DOMNUL, până în ziua în care mă voi ridica pentru pradă: căci hotărârea mea este să adun naţiunile, să strâng împărăţiile, să îmi vărs indignarea asupra lor, toată mânia mea înverşunată, pentru că tot pământul va fi mistuit de focul geloziei mele.
Wait for me, is the Lord’s message, until the day when I stand up as a witness, for it is my fixed purpose to gather the nations, to collect the kingdoms, to pour upon them my wrath and my hot anger; for by the fire of my fury will all the earth be consumed.
9 Pentru că atunci voi da din nou popoarelor o limbă pură, ca toţi să cheme numele DOMNULUI, să îi servească într-un singur gând.
For then I will purify the lips of all peoples, so that they will all call on the Lord’s name, to serve him with one accord.
10 De dincolo de râurile Etiopiei, închinătorii mei, chiar fiica risipiţilor mei, îmi vor aduce ofranda.
From beyond the rivers of Cush my worshipers will bring me offerings.
11 În acea zi nu vei fi ruşinat de toate facerile tale, în care ai încălcat legea împotriva mea, pentru că atunci voi scoate afară din mijlocul tău pe cei care se bucură în mândria ta, şi nu te vei mai îngâmfa datorită muntelui meu sfânt.
On that day you will no longer be ashamed of all your deeds by which you rebelled against me. For I will rid you of your proudly arrogant ones, and you will never again be haughty on my holy mountain.
12 De asemenea, voi lăsa în mijlocul tău un popor chinuit şi sărac, şi ei se vor încrede în numele DOMNULUI.
But I will leave in your midst a people humble and poor, and the remnant of Israel will trust in the name of the Lord.
13 Rămăşiţa lui Israel nu va face nelegiuire, nici nu va vorbi minciuni; nici nu se va găsi în gura lor o limbă înşelătoare, pentru că ei se vor hrăni şi se vor culca şi nimeni nu îi va înspăimânta.
They will not do evil, nor speak falsehood, and a deceitful tongue will not be found in their mouth; but they will pasture and lie down, and no one will make them afraid.
14 Cântă, fiică a Sionului; strigă, Israele; veseleşte-te şi bucură-te cu toată inima, fiică a Ierusalimului.
Cry out with joy, daughter of Zion, shout aloud, Israel! Rejoice and exult with all your heart, daughter of Jerusalem.
15 DOMNUL a luat judecăţile tale, el a alungat pe duşmanul tău; împăratul lui Israel, DOMNUL este în mijlocul tău, nu vei mai vedea răul.
The Lord has put away your adversaries, he has turned away your foes; the Lord is king in your midst, you will fear evil no more.
16 În acea zi se va spune Ierusalimului: Nu te teme; şi Sionului: Să nu îţi slăbească mâinile.
In that day it will be said to Jerusalem: Fear not! Zion, let not your hands grow weak!
17 DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău în mijlocul tău este puternic; el va salva, el se va bucura de tine cu bucurie; el se va odihni în dragostea lui, se va bucura de tine cu cântare.
The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious hero. He will rejoice over you with joy, he will renew his love, he will exult over you with singing,
18 Îi voi aduna pe cei întristaţi pentru adunarea solemnă, care sunt ai tăi, pentru care ocara ei era o povară.
as on a day of festival. I will take away from you your disgrace, and put away from you your reproach.
19 Iată, atunci îi voi aduce la nimic pe toţi cei care te chinuiesc; şi voi salva pe cea şchioapă şi o voi aduna pe cea alungată; şi le voi aduce laudă şi faimă în fiecare ţară unde au fost făcuţi de ruşine.
I will destroy at that time all who afflict you. I will deliver the lame, and gather the outcast, I will make them an object of renown and fame in all the earth.
20 În acel timp vă voi aduce din nou, la timpul în care vă adun, fiindcă vă voi face un nume şi o laudă printre toate popoarele pământului, când vă voi aduce înapoi din captivitate înaintea ochilor voştri, spune DOMNUL.
I will do good to you, at the time when I gather you. For I will make you an object of fame and renown among all the peoples of the earth; when I bring back your captivity before your eyes. This says the Lord.
