1 Atunci, ce vom spune? Să continuăm în păcat ca să abunde harul?
Then what shall we say? must we abide in sin, in order that grace may abound?
2 Nicidecum. Noi, care am murit față de păcat, cum să mai trăim în el?
It could not be so. How shall we, who are dead unto sin, live any longer in it?
3 Nu știți că toți câți am fost botezați în Isus Cristos, am fost botezați în moartea lui?
Whether do you not know, that so many of us as were baptized unto Jesus Christ were baptized into His death?
4 De aceea suntem îngropați cu el prin botez în moarte; pentru ca, așa cum Cristos a fost înviat dintre morți prin gloria Tatălui, chiar așa și noi ar trebui să umblăm în înnoirea vieții.
Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death: in order that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so must we also walk in newness of life.
5 Căci dacă am fost sădiți împreună în asemănarea morții sale, vom fi și în asemănarea învierii sale.
For if we have grown together in the likeness of His death, we shall also be in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Știind aceasta, că omul nostru cel vechi este crucificat cu el, pentru ca trupul păcatului să fie nimicit, ca de acum înainte noi să nu [mai] servim păcatului.
knowing this, that our old man is crucified along with him, in order that the body of sin may be destroyed, that we may no longer serve sin;
7 Fiindcă cel mort este eliberat de păcat.
for the one having died has been made free from sin.
8 Acum dacă suntem morți împreună cu Cristos, credem că vom și trăi cu el,
But if we died along with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him:
9 Știind că Cristos, fiind înviat dintre morți, nu mai moare; moartea nu mai are domnie asupra lui.
knowing that Christ having risen from the dead dies no more; death no longer has dominion over him.
10 Fiindcă în aceea că a murit, a murit pentru păcat o singură dată; dar în aceea că trăiește, trăiește pentru Dumnezeu.
For the death that he died, he died unto sin once: but the life that he lives, he lives unto God.
11 Tot așa și voi înșivă, socotiți-vă a fi morți într-adevăr față de păcat, dar vii pentru Dumnezeu prin Isus Cristos Domnul nostru.
So you also thus reckon yourselves dead unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ.
12 De aceea păcatul să nu domnească în trupul vostru muritor, ca să ascultați de el în poftele lui.
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body that you should obey the lusts of it:
13 Nici nu predați membrele voastre ca unelte ale nedreptății, pentru păcat; ci predați-vă pe voi înșivă lui Dumnezeu ca vii dintre morți, și membrele voastre lui Dumnezeu ca unelte ale dreptății.
neither present your members arms of iniquity unto sin; but present yourselves to God, as alive from the dead, and your members arms of righteousness unto God.
14 Fiindcă păcatul nu va avea domnie asupra voastră; fiindcă nu sunteți sub lege, ci sub har.
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under grace.
15 Ce atunci? Să păcătuim pentru că nu suntem sub lege, ci sub har? Nicidecum.
What then? can we commit sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? it could not be so.
16 Nu știți că aceluia cui vă predați robi pentru a-i da ascultare, aceluia îi sunteți robi, căruia îi dați ascultare; fie ai păcatului pentru moarte, fie ai ascultării pentru dreptate?
Do you not know, that to whom you present yourselves servants unto obedience, ye are servants to whom you obey; whether of sin unto death, or obedience unto righteousness?
17 Dar mulțumiri fie lui Dumnezeu, pentru că ați fost robii păcatului, dar ați ascultat din inimă de acel model de doctrină, care v-a fost dat.
But thanks be unto God, that whereas ye were servants of sin, but you have obeyed from the heart the type of teaching into which ye were delivered:
18 Și fiind făcuți liberi față de păcat, ați devenit robii dreptății.
but having been made free from sin, ye became servants unto righteousness.
19 Vorbesc omenește din cauza neputinței cărnii voastre; fiindcă așa cum ați predat membrele voastre roabe necurăției și nelegiuirii, pentru nelegiuire, tot așa, acum predați membrele voastre roabe ale dreptății pentru sfințenie.
I speak after the manner of a man on account of the weakness of your carnality. For as ye presented your members as servants unto impurity and lawlessness pursuant to lawlessness, so now present your members servants unto righteousness pursuant to sanctification.
20 Fiindcă atunci când erați robii păcatului, erați liberi față de dreptate.
For when you were the servants of sin, you were free from righteousness.
21 Ce rod aveați atunci în acele lucruri de care acum vă este rușine? Fiindcă sfârșitul acelor lucruri este moartea.
What fruit then had you at that time in those things in which you are now ashamed? for the end of these things is death.
22 Dar acum, fiind făcuți liberi față de păcat și devenind robii lui Dumnezeu, aveți rodul vostru spre sfințenie iar sfârșitul, viață veșnică. (aiōnios g166)
But now having been made free from sin, and having become servants unto God, you have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
