Psalmii 8

1 Mai marelui muzician pe harpă, un psalm al lui David. DOAMNE, Domnul nostru, cât de măreț este numele tău în tot pământul! Tu care ai pus gloria ta deasupra cerurilor.

For the Leader; upon the Gittith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, our Lord, how glorious is Thy name in all the earth! whose majesty is rehearsed above the heavens.

2 Din gura pruncilor și a sugarilor ți-ai rânduit tărie, datorită dușmanilor tăi, ca să amuțești pe dușman și pe răzbunător.

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast Thou founded strength, because of Thine adversaries; that Thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

3 Când privesc cerurile tale, lucrarea degetelor tale, luna și stelele, pe care le-ai rânduit;

When I behold Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou hast established;

4 Ce este omul, să îți amintești de el, și fiul omului să îl cercetezi?

What is man, that Thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that Thou thinkest of him?

5 Fiindcă l-ai făcut cu puțin mai prejos decât îngerii și l-ai încoronat cu glorie și onoare.

Yet Thou hast made him but little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

6 L-ai făcut să domnească peste lucrările mâinilor tale; ai pus toate sub picioarele lui;

Thou hast made him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all things under His feet:

7 Toate oile și toți boii, da, și animalele câmpului;

Sheep and oxen, all of them, yea, and the beasts of the field;

8 Păsările cerului și peștii mării și orice străbate cărările mărilor.

The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea; whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

9 DOAMNE, Domnul nostru, cât de măreț este numele tău pe tot pământul!

O LORD, our Lord, how glorious is Thy name in all the earth!
