Psalmii 59
1 Mai marelui muzician, „Altaschit,” Mictam al lui David; când Saul a trimis și ei au pândit casa, pentru a-l ucide. Eliberează-mă de dușmanii mei, Dumnezeul meu; apără-mă de cei ce se ridică împotriva mea.
“To the chief musician, Al-tashcheth, by David, a Michtham, when Saul sent, and they watched the house to put him to death.” Deliver me from my enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.
2 Eliberează-mă de lucrătorii nelegiuirii și salvează-mă de oamenii sângeroși.
Deliver me from the workers of wickedness, and from men of blood do thou save me.
3 Căci iată, ei îmi pândesc sufletul, cei tari se adună împotriva mea; nu pentru fărădelegea mea, nici pentru păcatul meu, DOAMNE.
For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul, the mighty are gathered in troops against me: not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Lord.
4 Ei aleargă și se pregătesc fără să am vreo vină, ridică-te să mă ajuți și privește.
Without guilt [in me] they run and make themselves ready: awake, [come] toward me, and behold.
5 Tu de aceea, DOAMNE Dumnezeul oștirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel, trezește-te și cercetează pe toți păgânii, nu fi milostiv cu niciun stricat călcător de lege. (Selah)
And thou, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to punish all the nations: be not gracious to any treacherous wicked one. (Selah)
6 Se întorc pe înserat, latră ca un câine și înconjoară cetăți.
They will return at evening; they will howl like dogs, and go round about the city.
7 Privește, ei râgâie cu gura lor, săbii sunt pe buzele lor, căci cine aude, spun ei?
Behold, they sputter with their mouth: swords are in their lips; for who, [say they, ] doth hear?
8 Dar tu, DOAMNE, vei râde de ei; vei lua pe toți păgânii în derâdere.
But thou, O Lord, wilt laugh at theme: thou wilt hold in derision all the nations.
9 Datorită puterii lui te voi aștepta, căci Dumnezeu este apărarea mea.
Because of [the enemy's] strength will I wait upon thee; for God is my defence.
10 Dumnezeul milei mele mă va întâmpina, Dumnezeu mă va lăsa să îmi văd dorința împlinită asupra dușmanilor mei.
The God who showeth me kindness will go before me: God will let me see [my desire] upon those who regard me with envy.
11 Nu îi ucide, ca nu cumva poporul meu să uite, împrăștie-i prin puterea ta și doboară-i, Doamne scutul nostru.
Slay them not, that my people may not forget: drive them about by thy power; and bring them down, thou our shield, O Lord.
12 Datorită păcatului gurii lor și cuvintelor buzelor lor, și datorită blestemului și minciunii pe care ei le vorbesc, să fie prinși în mândria lor.
The sin of their mouth is the word of their lips: let them be caught through their pride, because of the cursing and lying which they relate.
13 Mistuie-i în furia ta, mistuie-i, ca ei să nu mai fie și să știe că Dumnezeu stăpânește în Iacob până la marginile pământului. (Selah)
Make an end in fury, make an end [of them], that they my be no more, and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob, as far as the ends of the earth. (Selah)
14 Și să se întoarcă pe înserat și să latre ca un câine și să înconjoare cetatea.
And they will return in the evening; they will howl like dogs, and go round about the city.
15 Să rătăcească în sus și în jos după mâncare și să poarte pică dacă nu sunt sătui.
They will indeed roam about after something to eat, if they be not satisfied, so that they can be at rest.
16 Dar eu voi cânta despre puterea ta; da, dimineața, voi cânta despre mila ta, căci ai fost apărarea mea și locul meu de scăpare în ziua tulburării mele.
But I will truly sing of thy strength; yea, I will sing joyfully in the morning of thy kindness; for thou hast been a defence unto me and a refuge on the day when I was distressed.
17 Puterea mea, ție îți voi cânta, căci Dumnezeu este apărarea mea și Dumnezeul milei mele.
Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing; for God is my defence, the God of my kindness.
