Psalmii 53

1 Mai marelui muzician, „Mahalat, Maschil,” Un psalm al lui David. Nebunul a spus în inima lui: Nu este Dumnezeu. Corupți sunt ei și au făcut nelegiuiri scârboase, nu este niciunul care face binele.

To the ouercomer bi the quere, the lernyng of Dauid. The vnwise man seide in his herte; God is not. Thei ben `corrupt, and maad abhomynable in her wickidnessis; noon is that doith good.

2 Dumnezeu a privit din cer peste copiii oamenilor, să vadă dacă este vreunul care să înțeleagă, care să caute pe Dumnezeu.

God bihelde fro heuene on the sones of men; that he se, if `ony is vndurstondynge, ether sekynge God.

3 Fiecare a mers înapoi, toți împreună au devenit murdari; nu este niciunul care să facă binele, niciunul măcar.

Alle boweden awei, thei ben maad vnprofitable togidre; noon is that doith good, ther is not til to oon.

4 Nu au lucrătorii nelegiuirii cunoaștere? Cei care mănâncă pe poporul meu cum mănâncă pâine nu au chemat pe Dumnezeu.

Whether alle men, that worchen wickidnesse, schulen not wite; whiche deuouren my puple as the mete of breed?

5 Acolo unde nu era spaimă, au fost ei în mare spaimă, fiindcă Dumnezeu a împrăștiat oasele celui ce așază tabăra împotriva ta, tu i-ai făcut de rușine pentru că Dumnezeu i-a disprețuit.

Thei clepiden not God; there thei trembliden for drede, where no drede was. For God hath scaterid the boones of hem, that plesen men; thei ben schent, for God hath forsake hem.

6 O, de ar veni salvarea lui Israel din Sion! Când Dumnezeu aduce înapoi pe poporul său din captivitate, Iacob se va bucura și Israel se va veseli.

Who schal yyue fro Syon helthe to Israel? whanne the Lord hath turned the caitifte of his puple, Jacob schal `ful out make ioie, and Israel schal be glad.
