Psalmii 40

1 Mai marelui muzician, un psalm al lui David. Am așteptat cu răbdare pe DOMNUL; și el s-a aplecat spre mine și a ascultat strigătul meu.

To him that excelleth. A Psalme of David. I Waited paciently for the Lord, and he inclined vnto me, and heard my cry.

2 M-a scos de asemenea din groapa pieirii, din noroiul mocirlos și mi-a așezat picioarele pe stâncă și mi-a întemeiat umbletele.

Hee brought mee also out of the horrible pit, out of the myrie clay, and set my feete vpon the rocke, and ordered my goings.

3 Și mi-a pus în gura o cântare nouă, laudă Dumnezeului nostru, mulți vor vedea aceasta și se vor teme și se vor încrede în DOMNUL.

And he hath put in my mouth a new song of praise vnto our God: many shall see it and feare, and shall trust in the Lord.

4 Binecuvântat este omul care face pe DOMNUL încrederea sa și nu dă atenție celor mândri, nici celor ce se abat spre minciuni.

Blessed is the man that maketh the Lord his trust, and regardeth not the proude, nor such as turne aside to lyes.

5 DOAMNE Dumnezeul meu, multe sunt lucrările tale minunate pe care le-ai făcut, și gândurile tale care sunt îndreptate spre noi, acestea nu îți pot fi înșirate; dacă aș dori să le vestesc și să vorbesc despre ele, sunt mai multe decât pot fi numărate.

O Lord my God, thou hast made thy wonderfull workes so many, that none can count in order to thee thy thoughts toward vs: I would declare, and speake of them, but they are moe then I am able to expresse.

6 Sacrificiu și ofrandă nu ai dorit; urechile mele le-ai deschis, ofrandă arsă și ofrandă pentru păcat nu ai cerut.

Sacrifice and offering thou didest not desire: (for mine eares hast thou prepared) burnt offring and sinne offering hast thou not required.

7 Atunci am spus: Iată, eu vin, în sulul cărții este scris despre mine,

Then said I, Lo, I come: for in the rolle of the booke it is written of me,

8 Îmi place să fac voia ta, Dumnezeul meu; da, legea ta este înăuntrul inimii mele.

I desired to doe thy good will, O my God: yea, thy Lawe is within mine heart.

9 Am predicat dreptatea în adunarea cea mare, iată, nu mi-am înfrânat buzele; DOAMNE, tu știi aceasta.

I haue declared thy righteousnesse in the great Congregation: loe, I will not refraine my lippes: O Lord, thou knowest.

10 Nu am ascuns dreptatea ta înăuntrul inimii mele; am vestit credincioșia ta și salvarea ta, nu am ascuns bunătatea ta iubitoare și adevărul tău de adunarea cea mare.

I haue not hidde thy righteousnesse within mine heart, but I haue declared thy trueth and thy saluation: I haue not conceiled thy mercy and thy trueth from the great Congregation.

11 Nu opri îndurările tale blânde de la mine, DOAMNE, bunătatea ta iubitoare și adevărul tău să mă păstreze continuu.

Withdrawe not thou thy tender mercie from mee, O Lord: let thy mercie and thy trueth alway preserue me.

12 Fiindcă nenumărate rele m-au înconjurat, nelegiuirile mele m-au prins, astfel încât nu mai sunt în stare să privesc în sus; ele sunt mai multe decât perii capului meu, de aceea inima mea mă părăsește.

For innumerable troubles haue compassed mee: my sinnes haue taken such holde vpon me, that I am not able to looke vp: yea, they are moe in nomber then the heares of mine head: therefore mine heart hath failed me.

13 Fii mulțumit, DOAMNE, să mă eliberezi, DOAMNE, grăbește-te să mă ajuți.

Let it please thee, O Lord, to deliuer mee: make haste, O Lord, to helpe me.

14 Să fie rușinați și încurcați toți cei ce îmi caută sufletul pentru a-l nimici; să fie împinși înapoi și dați de rușine cei ce îmi doresc răul.

Let them be confounded and put to shame together, that seeke my soule to destroye it: let them be driuen backward and put to rebuke, that desire mine hurt.

15 Să fie pustiiți ca o răsplată a rușinii lor cei ce îmi spun: Aha, aha.

Let them be destroyed for a rewarde of their shame, which say vnto me, Aha, aha.

16 Să se veselească și să se bucure în tine toți cei ce te caută, să spună continuu cei care iubesc salvarea ta: DOMNUL fie preamărit.

Let all them, that seeke thee, reioyce and be glad in thee: and let them, that loue thy saluation, say alway, The Lord be praysed.

17 Dar eu sunt sărac și nevoiaș; totuși Domnul se gândește la mine; tu ești ajutorul meu și eliberatorul meu; nu întârzia, Dumnezeul meu.

Though I be poore and needie, the Lord thinketh on mee: thou art mine helper and my deliuerer: my God, make no tarying.
