Psalmii 2
1 Pentru ce se înfurie păgânii și își închipuie popoarele deșertăciune?
Therefore did the heathen rage, and the nations imagine vain things?
2 Împărații pământului se ridică și conducătorii țin sfat împreună împotriva DOMNULUI și împotriva unsului său, spunând:
The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers gathered themselves together, against the Lord, and against his Christ;
3 Să le rupem în bucăți legăturile și să le aruncăm funiile de la noi.
[saying], Let us break through their bonds, and cast away their yoke from us.
4 Cel ce șade în ceruri va râde; Domnul îi va lua în derâdere.
He that dwells in the heavens shall laugh them to scorn, and the Lord shall mock them.
5 Apoi le va vorbi în furia lui și îi va chinui în aprinderea sa.
Then shall he speak to them in his anger, and trouble them in his fury.
6 Totuși, eu mi-am înălțat pe împăratul peste muntele meu sfânt al Sionului.
But I have been made king by him on Sion his holy mountain,
7 Voi vesti hotărârea, DOMNUL mi-a spus: Tu ești Fiul meu; astăzi te-am născut.
declaring the ordinance of the Lord: the Lord said to me, You are my Son, today have I begotten you.
8 Cere-mi și îți voi da păgânii drept moștenire și cele mai îndepărtate margini ale pământului drept stăpânire.
Ask of me, and I will give you the heathen [for] your inheritance, and the ends of the earth [for] your possession.
9 Tu îi vei zdrobi cu un toiag de fier și îi vei sparge în bucăți ca pe vasul unui olar.
You shall rule them with a rod of iron; you shall dash them in pieces as a potter's vessel.
10 De aceea fiți înțelepți împăraților; instruiți-vă voi judecători ai pământului.
Now therefore understand, you kings: be instructed, all you that judge the earth.
11 Serviți DOMNULUI cu teamă și bucurați-vă tremurând.
Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice in him with trembling.
12 Sărutați pe Fiul ca să nu se mânie și să pieriți pe cale, când furia lui abia s-a aprins. Binecuvântați sunt toți cei ce își pun încrederea în el.
Accept correction, lest at any time the Lord be angry, and you should perish from the righteous way: whenever his wrath shall be suddenly kindled, blessed are all they that trust in him.
