Psalmii 17
1 O rugăciune a lui David. Ascultă dreptatea, DOAMNE, dă atenție strigătului meu, deschide urechea la rugăciunea mea, care nu se înalță de pe buze prefăcute.
A prayer of David. Hearken, O Lord of my righteousness, attend to my petition; give ear to my prayer not [uttered] with deceitful lips.
2 Din prezența ta să vină judecata mea; să privească ochii tăi lucrurile echitabile.
Let my judgment come forth from thy presence; let mine eyes behold righteousness.
3 Mi-ai examinat inima, m-ai cercetat noaptea, m-ai încercat și nu vei găsi nimic; am hotărât ca gura mea să nu calce legea ta.
Thou has proved mine heart; thou hast visited [me] by night; thou hast tried me as with fire, and unrighteousness has not been found in me: [I am purposed] that my mouth shall not speak [amiss].
4 Referitor la faptele oamenilor, prin cuvântul buzelor tale m-am păzit de cărările nimicitorului.
As for the works of men, by the words of thy lips I have guarded [myself from] hard ways.
5 Sprijină umbletele mele în cărările tale să nu alunece pașii piciorului meu.
Direct my steps in thy paths, that my steps slip not.
6 Te-am chemat, pentru că mă vei asculta, Dumnezeule; apleacă urechea ta spre mine și ascultă vorbirea mea.
I have cried, for thou heardest me, O God: incline thine ear to me, and hearken to my words.
7 Arată-ți minunata bunătate iubitoare, tu, care salvezi prin mâna ta dreaptă pe cei ce își pun încrederea în tine, de cei ce se ridică împotriva lor.
Shew the marvels of thy mercies, thou that savest them that hope in thee.
8 Ține-mă ca pe lumina ochiului, ascunde-mă sub umbra aripilor tale,
Keep me as the apple of the eye from those that resist thy right hand: thou shalt screen me by the covering of thy wings,
9 Ascunde-mă de cei stricați care mă oprimă, de dușmanii mei de moarte, care mă încercuiesc.
from the face of the ungodly that have afflicted me: mine enemies have compassed about my soul.
10 Ei sunt închiși în propria lor grăsime; cu gura lor vorbesc trufaș.
They have enclosed [themselves with] their own fat: their mouth has spoken pride.
11 Acum ne-au încercuit pașii noștri; și-au ațintit ochii, aplecându-se la pământ,
They have now cast me out and compassed me round about: they have set their eyes [so as] to bow them down to the ground.
12 Asemenea unui leu lacom de prada lui și precum un leu tânăr pândind în locuri tainice.
They laid wait for me as a lion ready for prey, and like a lion's whelp dwelling in secret [places].
13 Ridică-te, DOAMNE, dezamăgește-l, aruncă-l jos, eliberează sufletul meu de cel stricat, care este sabia ta,
Arise, O Lord, prevent them, and cast them down: deliver my soul from the ungodly: [draw] thy sword,
14 De oamenii care sunt mâna ta, DOAMNE, de oamenii lumii, care își au partea în această viață și a căror pântece îl umpli cu comoara ta ascunsă; ei sunt plini de copii și își lasă restul averii la pruncii lor.
because of the enemies of thine hand: O Lord, destroy them from the earth; scatter them in their life, though their belly has been filled with thy hidden [treasures]: they have been satisfied with uncleanness, and have left the remnant [of their possessions] to their babes.
15 Cât despre mine, îți voi privi fața în dreptate; mă voi sătura, când mă trezesc, cu chipul tău.
But I shall appear in righteousness before thy face: I shall be satisfied when thy glory appears.
