Psalmii 124

1 O cântare a treptelor, a lui David. De nu ar fi fost DOMNUL de partea noastră, să spună Israel;

A song of ascents; of David. “If Yahweh had not been on our side,” let Israel say now,

2 De nu ar fi fost DOMNUL de partea noastră, când oameni s-au ridicat împotriva noastră,

“if it had not been Yahweh who was on our side when men rose up against us,

3 Atunci ei ne-ar fi înghițit de vii, când furia lor s-a aprins împotriva noastră;

then they would have swallowed us up alive when their anger raged against us.

4 Atunci apele ne-ar fi copleșit, pârâul ar fi trecut peste sufletul nostru;

The water would have swept us away; the torrent would have overwhelmed us.

5 Atunci apele umflate ar fi trecut peste sufletul nostru.

Then the raging waters would have drowned us.”

6 Binecuvântat fie DOMNUL, care nu ne-a dat ca pradă pentru dinții lor.

Blessed be Yahweh, who has not allowed us to be torn by their teeth.

7 Sufletul nostru a scăpat ca o pasăre din plasa păsărarilor, plasa s-a rupt și noi am scăpat.

We have escaped like a bird out of the snare of the fowlers; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped.

8 Ajutorul nostru este în numele DOMNULUI, care a făcut cerul și pământul.

Our help is in Yahweh, who made heaven and earth.
