Proverbe 7
1 Fiul meu, ține cuvintele mele și strânge cu tine poruncile mele.
My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2 Ține poruncile mele și vei trăi; și legea mea ca lumina ochilor tăi.
Keep my commandments and live, and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3 Leagă-le împrejurul degetelor tale, scrie-le pe tăblia inimii tale.
Bind them upon thy fingers. Write them upon the tablet of thy heart.
4 Spune înțelepciunii: Tu ești sora mea; și numește înțelegerea, ruda ta;
Say to wisdom, Thou are my sister, and call understanding thy kinswoman,
5 Ca ele să te țină departe de femeia străină, de străina care lingușește cu vorbele ei.
that they may keep thee from the interloping woman, from the stranger who flatters with her words.
6 Căci de la fereastra casei mele am privit prin deschizătura mea,
For at the window of my house I looked forth through my lattice,
7 Și am văzut printre cei simpli, am deosebit printre tineri un tânăr lipsit de înțelegere,
and I beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding
8 Trecând strada aproape de colțul ei; și el mergea pe calea spre casa ei,
passing through the street near her corner. And he went the way to her house,
9 În amurg, în seara zilei, în negrul și întunericul nopții;
in the twilight, in the evening of the day, in the middle of the night and in the darkness.
10 Și, iată, l-a întâlnit o femeie cu îmbrăcămintea unei curve și cu inima vicleană.
And, behold, there met him a woman attired like a harlot, and wily of heart.
11 (Ea este gălăgioasă și încăpățânată; picioarele nu îi stau în casă;
She is loud and headstrong. Her feet abide not in her house.
12 Acum afară, acum pe străzi și pândește la fiecare colț).
Now she is in the streets, now in the broad places, and lies in wait at every corner.
13 Așa l-a prins și l-a sărutat și cu o față nerușinată i-a spus:
So she caught him, and kissed him. With an impudent face she said to him,
14 Am ofrande de pace cu mine; astăzi mi-am împlinit promisiunile.
Sacrifices of peace offerings are with me. I have paid my vows this day.
15 De aceea am ieșit să te întâlnesc, din timp am căutat fața ta și te-am găsit.
Therefore I came forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
16 Mi-am așternut patul cu cuverturi, cu tapițerii, cu in subțire din Egipt.
I have spread my couch with carpets of tapestry, with striped cloths of the yarn of Egypt.
17 Mi-am parfumat patul cu smirnă, aloe și scorțișoară.
I have perfumed my bed With myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18 Vino să ne umplem cu iubire până dimineață, să ne desfătăm cu iubiri.
Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning. Let us solace ourselves with love.
19 Pentru că soțul nu este acasă, a plecat într-o călătorie lungă;
For the man is not at home. He has gone a long journey.
20 A luat o pungă de bani cu el și va veni acasă la ziua stabilită.
He has taken a bag of money with him. He will come home at the full moon.
21 Cu vorbirea ei măgulitoare l-a făcut să cedeze, cu lingușeala buzelor ei l-a forțat.
With her much fair speech she causes him to yield. With the flattering of her lips she forces him along.
22 El merge deodată după ea, cum merge un bou la măcelărie, sau ca un nebun la disciplinarea în butuci,
He goes after her straightaway, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks,
23 Până ce o săgeată îi străpunge ficatul, precum o pasăre se grăbește la capcană și nu știe că aceasta o va costa viața.
till an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hastens to the snare. And he does not know that it is for his life.
24 De aceea dați-mi acum ascultare, copii, și dați atenție cuvintelor gurii mele.
Now therefore, ye sons, hearken to me, and attend to the words of my mouth.
25 Să nu se abată inima ta spre căile ei, nu te rătăci în cărările ei.
Let not thy heart decline to her ways. Go not astray in her paths.
26 Fiindcă ea a doborât mulți răniți; da, mulți bărbați puternici au fost uciși de ea.
For she has cast down many wounded. Yea, all her slain are a mighty host.
