Proverbe 4
1 Ascultați, copiilor, instruirea unui tată și dați atenție pentru a cunoaște înțelegerea.
Hear, you sons, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding.
2 Nu părăsiți legea mea, pentru că eu vă dau doctrină bună.
For I have given to you good learning, do not forsake my law.
3 Pentru că eram fiul tatălui meu, plăpând și singurul [iubit] înaintea mamei mele.
For I have been a son to my father—tender, And an only one before my mother.
4 El, de asemenea, m-a învățat și mi-a spus: Să păstreze inima ta cuvintele mele, ține poruncile mele și vei trăi.
And he directs me, and he says to me: “Let your heart retain my words, Keep my commands, and live.
5 Obține înțelepciune, obține înțelegere; nu uita, nici nu te abate de la cuvintele gurii mele.
Get wisdom, get understanding, Do not forget, nor turn away From the sayings of my mouth.
6 Nu o părăsi, și ea te va păstra; iubește-o, și ea te va păzi.
Do not forsake her, and she preserves you, Love her, and she keeps you.
7 Înțelepciunea este lucrul de căpătâi; de aceea, obține înțelepciune; și cu toate cele obținute, obține înțelegere.
The first thing [is] wisdom—get wisdom, And with all your getting get understanding.
8 Înalț-o, și ea te va înălța; te va onora când o îmbrățișezi.
Exalt her and she lifts you up, She honors you when you embrace her.
9 Ea va da capului tău o podoabă de har, îți va aduce o coroană de glorie.
She gives a wreath of grace to your head, She gives you a crown of beauty freely.”
10 Ascultă, fiul meu, și primește spusele mele; și mulți vor fi anii vieții tale.
Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And years of life [are] multiplied to you.
11 Te-am învățat despre calea înțelepciunii, te-am condus pe cărări drepte.
I have directed you in a way of wisdom, I have caused you to tread in paths of uprightness.
12 Când umbli, pașii tăi nu vor fi strâmtorați; și când alergi nu te vei poticni.
In your walking your step is not restricted, And if you run, you do not stumble.
13 Ține strâns de instruire; nu o lăsa să plece; păzește-o, fiindcă ea este viața ta.
Lay hold on instruction, do not desist, Keep her, for she [is] your life.
14 Nu intra în cărarea celor stricați și nu te duce pe calea celor răi.
Do not enter into the path of the wicked, And do not be blessed in a way of evildoers.
15 Evit-o, nu trece nici măcar pe lângă ea, întoarce-te de la ea și treci mai departe.
Avoid it, do not pass over into it, Turn aside from it, and pass on.
16 Fiindcă ei nu dorm, fără să fi făcut vreo ticăloșie; și somnul le este luat dacă nu fac pe cineva să cadă.
For they do not sleep if they do no evil, And their sleep has been taken away violently, If they do not cause [some] to stumble.
17 Fiindcă ei mănâncă pâinea stricăciunii și beau vinul violenței.
For they have eaten bread of wickedness, And they drink wine of violence.
18 Dar cărarea celor drepți este ca lumina strălucitoare, care strălucește tot mai mult până în ziua desăvârșită.
And the path of the righteous [is] as a shining light, Going and brightening until the day is established,
19 Calea celor stricați este ca întunericul; ei nu știu în ce se poticnesc.
The way of the wicked [is] as darkness, They have not known at what they stumble.
20 Fiul meu, dă atenție cuvintelor mele; apleacă-ți urechea la spusele mele.
My son, give attention to my words, Incline your ear to my sayings,
21 Să nu se depărteze de ochii tăi; păstrează-le în mijlocul inimii tale.
Do not let them turn aside from your eyes, Preserve them in the midst of your heart.
22 Fiindcă ele sunt viață pentru cei ce le găsesc și sănătate pentru toată carnea lor.
For they [are] life to those finding them, And healing to all their flesh.
23 Păzește-ți inima cu toată silința, fiindcă din ea sunt ieșirile vieții.
Above every charge keep your heart, For out of it [are] the outgoings of life.
24 Alungă de la tine o gură perversă și îndepărtează buze perverse de la tine.
Turn aside a contrary mouth from you, And put perverse lips far from you,
25 Să privească ochii tăi înainte, iar pleoapele tale să privească drept în fața ta.
Your eyes look straightforward, And your eyelids look straight before you.
26 Cumpănește cărarea pașilor tăi și toate căile tale să fie întemeiate.
Ponder the path of your feet, And all your ways [are] established.
27 Nu te întoarce nici la dreapta nici la stânga; îndepărtează-ți piciorul de la rău.
Do not incline [to] the right or to the left, Turn aside your foot from evil!
