Proverbe 31
1 Cuvintele împăratului Lemuel, profeția pe care mama lui l-a învățat.
The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy with which his mother instructed him.
2 Ce, fiul meu? Și ce, fiul pântecelui meu? Și ce, fiul promisiunilor mele?
What [hast thou done], O my son: and what, O son of my body? and what, O son of my vows?
3 Nu da vigoarea ta femeilor, nici căile tale aceleia ce distruge împărați.
Give not unto women thy vigor, nor thy ways to those that ruin kings.
4 Nu este pentru împărați, O Lemuel, nu este pentru împărați să bea vin, nici pentru prinți băutura tare;
Not for kings, O Lemoel, not for kings [it is fitting] to drink wine, nor for princes, strong drink:
5 Ca nu cumva să bea și să uite legea și să pervertească judecata oricăruia dintre cei nenorociți.
Lest either might drink, and forget what is written in the law, and pervert the cause of all the afflicted.
6 Dă băutură tare aceluia ce stă să piară și vin acelora cu o inimă îndurerată.
Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those who have an embittered soul.
7 Lasă-l să bea și să își uite sărăcia și să nu își mai amintească de nefericirea lui.
Let such a one drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his trouble no more.
8 Deschide-ți gura pentru cel mut în cauza tuturor acelora ce sunt rânduiți pentru nimicire.
Open thy mouth for the dumb, for the cause of all fatherless children.
9 Deschide-ți gura, judecă cu dreptate și pledează în cauza celui sărac și nevoiaș.
Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and decide the cause of the poor and needy.
10 Cine poate găsi o femeie virtuoasă? Fiindcă prețul ei este mult peste cel al rubinelor.
Who can find a virtuous woman: for far above pearls is her value.
11 Inima soțului ei se încrede în ea, așa încât el nu va avea nevoie de pradă.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, and he will not see his gain diminish.
12 Ea îi va face bine și nu rău în toate zilele vieții ei.
She treateth him well and not ill, all the days of her life.
13 Ea caută lână și in și lucrează cu plăcere cu mâinile ei.
She seeketh for wool and flax, and worketh with her willing hands.
14 Ea este precum corăbiile comercianților; de departe își aduce mâncarea.
She is become like the merchant's ships: from afar doth she bring her food.
15 Ea se trezește când este încă noapte și dă mâncare casei ei și o porție servitoarelor.
And she riseth while it is yet night, and giveth provision to her household, and a task to her maidens.
16 Ea are în considerare un câmp și îl cumpără; cu rodul mâinilor ei sădește o vie.
She thinketh of a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 Ea își încinge șalele cu putere și își întărește brațele.
She girdeth with strength her loins, and giveth vigor to her arms.
18 Ea pricepe că produsele ei sunt bune; candela ei nu se stinge în noapte.
She perceiveth that her profit is good: [therefore] her lamp goeth not out by night.
19 Ea își pune mâinile pe furcă și mâinile ei țin fusul.
She stretcheth out her hands to the spindle, and her palms hold fast the distaff.
20 Ea își întinde mâna spre cel sărac; da, își întinde mâinile spre cel nevoiaș.
She spreadeth out wide her open palm to the poor: yea, her hands she stretcheth forth to the needy.
21 Ea nu se teme de zăpadă pentru casa ei, fiindcă toți ai casei ei sunt îmbrăcați cu stacojiu.
She hath no fear for her household of the snow: for all her household are clothed in scarlet.
22 Ea își face singură cuverturi; îmbrăcămintea ei este mătase și purpură.
Tapestry-covering she maketh for herself: of linen and purple is her attire.
23 Soțul ei este cunoscut la porți, când șade printre bătrânii țării.
Well known is in the gates her husband, when he sitteth with the elders of the land.
24 Ea face stofe fine de in și le vinde; și dă comerciantului brâie.
Fine tunics she maketh, and selleth them, and girdles she furnisheth unto the merchant.
25 Putere și onoare sunt îmbrăcămintea ei și ea se va bucura de ziua care vine.
Strength and dignity are her clothing: and she smileth at the coming of the last day.
26 Ea își deschide gura cu înțelepciune și pe limba ei se află legea bunătății.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom, and the law of kindness is on her tongue.
27 Ea veghează căile celor din casa ei și nu mănâncă pâinea trândăviei.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and the bread of idleness she doth not eat.
28 Copiii ei se ridică și o numesc binecuvântată; soțul ei la fel și o laudă:
Her children rise up, and call her blessed; her husband, also, and he praiseth her:
29 Multe fiice s-au purtat virtuos, dar tu le întreci pe toate.
“Many daughters have done virtuously; but thou excellest them all.”
30 Favoarea este înșelătoare și frumusețea este deșartă, dar o femeie care se teme de DOMNUL va fi lăudată.
False is grace, and vain is beauty: a woman only that feareth the Lord shall indeed be praised.
31 Dă-i din rodul mâinilor ei și să o laude la porți propriile ei fapte.
Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.
