Proverbe 29
1 Cel care, fiind deseori mustrat, își înțepenește gâtul, va fi nimicit dintr-o dată și fără remediu.
He that being often reproved stiffeneth his neck, suddenly shall be hurt, and there be no healing.
2 Când cei drepți sunt în autoritate, poporul se bucură; dar când cel stricat conduce, poporul jelește.
When the righteous become great, the people rejoice, but, when a lawless man beareth rule, a people sigh.
3 Oricine iubește înțelepciunea bucură pe tatăl său, dar cel ce se însoțește cu curvele își cheltuiește averea.
A man who loveth wisdom, gladdeneth his father, but, a companion of harlots, destroyeth wealth.
4 Prin judecată împăratul întemeiază țara, dar cel ce primește daruri o dărâmă.
A king, by justice, shall establish a land, —but, a man open to bribes, bringeth it to ruin.
5 Un om care lingușește pe vecinul său întinde o cursă pentru picioarele sale.
A man who flattereth his neighbour, spreadeth, a net, over his steps.
6 În fărădelegea unui om rău se află o capcană, dar cel drept cântă și se bucură.
In the transgression of a wicked man, is a snare, but, the righteous, doth shout in triumph and rejoice.
7 Cel drept ia aminte la cauza săracului, dar cel stricat dă atenție să nu o cunoască.
The righteous doth acknowledge the plea of the poor, but, the lawless, regardeth not knowledge.
8 Oamenii batjocoritori aduc o cetate în capcană, dar oamenii înțelepți întorc furia.
Men given to mockery, inflame a city, —but, wise men, turn away anger.
9 Dacă un om înțelept se ceartă cu un om nebun, fie că se înfurie, fie că râde, nu este odihnă.
A wise man pleading with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no settlement.
10 Cei setoși de sânge urăsc pe cel integru, dar cei drepți îi caută sufletul.
Blood-thirsty men, hate the blameless man, and, as for the upright, they seek his life.
11 Un prost își rostește toată mintea, dar un om înțelept o păstrează până mai târziu.
All his anger, doth a dullard let go, but, a wise man, by keeping it back, stilleth it.
12 Dacă un conducător dă ascultare la minciuni, toți servitorii lui sunt stricați.
When a ruler giveth heed to the word of falsehood, all his attendants, become lawless.
13 Săracul și omul înșelător se întâlnesc, dar DOMNUL le luminează ochii la amândoi.
The poor man and the man of usury, meet together, he that enlighteneth the eyes of them both, is Yahweh.
14 Împăratul care cu credincioșie judecă pe sărac va avea tronul lui întemeiat pentru totdeauna.
When a king judgeth faithfully the poor, his throne, to futurity, shall be established.
15 Nuiaua și mustrarea dau înțelepciune, dar un copil lăsat de capul lui o face de rușine pe mama lui.
A rod with rebuke, giveth wisdom, but, a youth unrestrained, bringeth shame to his mother.
16 Când cei stricați se înmulțesc, crește fărădelegea, dar cei drepți vor vedea căderea lor.
When the lawless become great, transgression increaseth, but, the righteous, shall behold, their ruin.
17 Corectează pe fiul tău și îți va da odihnă; da, el va da desfătare sufletului tău.
Correct thy son, that he may give thee rest, that he may give delight to thy soul.
18 Unde nu este viziune poporul piere, dar cel ce ține legea, fericit este el.
Where there is no vision, a people is let loose, but, he that keepeth instruction, how happy is he!
19 Un servitor nu va fi corectat prin cuvinte, căci deși înțelege nu va răspunde.
By words, a servant will not be corrected, though he perceiveth, yet is there no answer.
20 Vezi tu pe un om pripit în vorbele lui? Este mai multă speranță pentru un prost decât pentru el.
Thou hast seen a man hasty in his words, —there is, more hope of a dullard, than of him.
21 Cel ce cu grijă crește pe servitorul său din copilărie, el îi va deveni fiu de-a lungul timpului.
He that dealeth tenderly with his servant from childhood, in his after life, shall have him for a son.
22 Un om mânios stârnește ceartă și un om furios abundă în fărădelege.
A man given to anger, stirreth up strife, and, he that exceedeth in wrath, aboundeth in transgression.
23 Mândria unui om îl va înjosi, dar onoarea îl va sprijini pe cel umil în duh.
The loftiness of a man, layeth him low, —but, one of a lowly spirit, shall attain unto honour.
24 Cel ce este partener cu un hoț își urăște propriul suflet; aude blestemul și nu îl dă pe față.
He that shareth with a thief, hateth himself, an oath, he heareth, yet may not tell.
25 Teama de om aduce o capcană, dar oricine își pune încrederea în DOMNUL va fi în siguranță.
The fear of man, setteth a snare, but, he that trusteth in Yahweh, shall be placed on high.
26 Mulți caută favoarea conducătorului, dar judecata fiecărui om vine de la DOMNUL.
Many, seek the face of a ruler, but, from Yahweh, is the sentence of each one.
27 Un om nedrept este o urâciune pentru cel drept, și cel integru pe cale este urâciune pentru cel stricat.
An abomination to the righteous, is the man of perversity, and, an abomination to the lawless, is a man of straightforward way.
