Proverbe 28
1 Cel stricat fuge când nu îl urmărește nimeni, dar cei drepți sunt cutezători ca un leu.
The wicked man fleeth, when no man pursueth: but the just, bold as a lion, shall be without dread.
2 Din cauza fărădelegii unei țări sunt mulți prinți în ea, dar printr-un om al priceperii și cunoașterii, starea țării va fi prelungită.
For the sins of the land many are the princes thereof: and for the wisdom of a man, and the knowledge of those things that are said, the life of the prince shall be prolonged.
3 Un om sărac care asuprește pe sărac este ca o ploaie torențială care nu lasă mâncare.
A poor man that oppresseth the poor, is like a violent shower, which bringeth a famine.
4 Cei ce părăsesc legea laudă pe cei stricați, dar cei ce țin legea se luptă cu ei.
They that forsake the law, praise the wicked man: they that keep it, are incensed against him.
5 Oamenii răi nu înțeleg judecata, dar cei ce caută pe DOMNUL înțeleg totul.
Evil men think not on judgment: but they that seek after the Lord, take notice of all things.
6 Mai bun este săracul care umblă în integritatea lui, decât cel care este pervers în căile lui, deși este bogat.
Better is the poor man walking in his simplicity, than the rich in crooked ways.
7 Oricine ține legea este un fiu înțelept, dar cel ce este un însoțitor al celor destrăbălați rușinează pe tatăl său.
He that keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that feedeth gluttons, shameth his father.
8 Cel ce prin camătă și câștig nedrept își mărește averea, o va aduna pentru cel ce se va milostivi de săraci.
He that heapeth together riches by usury and loan, gathereth them for him that will be bountiful to the poor.
9 Cel ce își întoarce urechea de la auzirea legii, chiar [și] rugăciunea lui va fi urâciune.
He that turneth away his ears from hearing the law, his prayer shall be as abomination.
10 Oricine duce pe cei drepți în rătăcire pe o cale rea, va cădea el însuși în propria lui groapă; dar cei integri vor avea în posesiune lucruri bune.
He that deceiveth the just in a wicked way, shall fall in his own destruction: and the upright shall possess his goods.
11 Omul bogat este înțelept în îngâmfarea lui, dar săracul care are înțelegere îl cercetează.
The rich man seemeth to himself wise: but the poor man that is prudent shall search him out.
12 Când cei drepți se bucură este o mare glorie, dar când cei stricați se ridică, omul se ascunde.
In the joy of the just there is great glory: when the wicked reign, men are ruined.
13 Cel ce își acoperă păcatele nu va prospera, dar oricine le mărturisește și se lasă de ele va primi milă.
He that hideth his sins, shall not prosper: but he that shall confess, and forsake them, shall obtain mercy.
14 Fericit este omul care se teme întotdeauna, dar cel ce își împietrește inima va cădea în ticăloșie.
Blessed is the man that is always fearful: but he that is hardened in mind, shall fall into evil.
15 Precum un leu care rage și un urs căutând pradă, așa este un conducător stricat peste poporul sărac.
As a roaring lion, and a hungry bear, so is a wicked prince over the poor people.
16 Prințul care duce lipsă de înțelegere este și un mare opresor, dar cel ce urăște lăcomia își va lungi zilele.
A prince void of prudence shall oppress many by calumny: but he that hateth covetousness, shall prolong his days.
17 Un om care varsă violent sângele oricărei persoane va fugi la groapă; să nu îl oprească nimeni.
A man that doth violence to the blood of a person, if he flee even to the pit, no man will stay him.
18 Oricine umblă cu integritate va fi salvat, dar cel pervers în căile lui va cădea fără întârziere.
He that walketh uprightly, shall be saved: he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.
19 Cel ce își ară pământul va avea multă pâine, dar cel ce se duce după oameni de nimic va avea destulă sărăcie.
He that tilleth his ground, shall be filled with bread: but he that followeth idleness shall be filled with poverty.
20 Un om credincios va abunda cu binecuvântări, dar cel ce se grăbește să fie bogat nu va fi nevinovat.
A faithful man shall be much praised: but he that maketh haste to be rich, shall not be innocent.
21 Nu este bine să părtinești oamenii; chiar pentru o bucată de pâine acel om va călca legea.
He that hath respect to a person in judgment, doth not well: such a man even for a morsel of bread forsaketh the truth.
22 Cel ce se grăbește să se îmbogățească are un ochi rău și nu ia aminte că sărăcia va veni peste el.
A man, that maketh haste to be rich, and envieth others, is ignorant that poverty shall come upon him.
23 Cel care mustră un om la sfârșit va găsi mai multă favoare decât cel ce lingușește cu limba.
He that rebuketh a man, shall afterward find favour with him, more than he that by a flattering tongue deceiveth him.
24 Oricine jefuiește pe tatăl său sau pe mama sa și spune: Nu este fărădelege; același este însoțitorul unui nimicitor.
He that stealeth any thing from his father, or from his mother: and saith, This is no sin, is the partner of a murderer.
25 Cel mândru în inimă stârnește ceartă, dar cel ce își pune încrederea în DOMNUL va fi îngrășat.
He that boasteth, and puffeth up himself, stirreth up quarrels: but he that trusteth in the Lord, shall be healed.
26 Cel ce se încrede în propria inimă este un prost, dar oricine umblă cu înțelepciune va fi eliberat.
He that trusteth in his own heart, is a fool: but he that walketh wisely, he shall be saved.
27 Cel ce dă săracului nu va duce lipsă, dar cel ce își acoperă ochii va avea multe blesteme.
He that giveth to the poor, shall not want: he that despiseth his entreaty, shall suffer indigence.
28 Când cei stricați se înalță, oamenii se ascund; dar când pier cei răi, cei drepți se înmulțesc.
When the wicked rise up, men shall hide themselves: when they perish, the lust shall be multiplied.
