Proverbe 21
1 Inima împăratului este în mâna DOMNULUI, precum râurile de ape: el o întoarce oriîncotro voiește.
Like brooks of water is a king's heart in the hand of the Lord: whithersoever it pleaseth him doth he turn it.
2 Fiecare cale a omului este dreaptă în propriii ochi, dar DOMNUL cumpănește inimile.
Every way of a man is straight in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the hearts.
3 A face dreptate și judecată este pentru DOMNUL mai bine primit decât sacrificiul.
To exercise righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
4 O privire măreață și o inimă mândră și arătura celui stricat, sunt păcat.
Haughtiness of the eyes, and an immoderate heart, are the sinful field of the wicked.
5 Gândurile celui harnic tind doar la abundență dar ale fiecăruia care este pripit doar la lipsă.
The plans of the diligent tend only to plenty; but every hasty man is [destined] only to want.
6 Obținerea de tezaure printr-o limbă mincinoasă este o deșertăciune aruncată încolo și încoace de cei ce caută moartea.
The getting of treasures by a tongue of falsehood is like the fleeting breath of those that seek death.
7 Jaful celor stricați îi va nimici, pentru că refuză să facă judecată.
The robbery of the wicked will drag them away; because they refuse to execute justice.
8 Calea omului este perversă și sucită, dar cât despre cel pur, lucrarea lui este dreaptă.
Perverse is the way of the man that is estranged [from goodness]; but as for the pure, his work is upright.
9 Mai bine este să locuiești într-un colț al acoperișului casei, decât cu o femeie arțăgoasă într-o casă largă.
It is better to dwell in a corner of a roof, than with a quarrelsome woman in a roomy house.
10 Sufletul celui stricat dorește răul; aproapele său nu găsește favoare în ochii lui.
The soul of the wicked longeth for evil: his neighbor findeth no grace in his eyes.
11 Când batjocoritorul este pedepsit, cel simplu este făcut înțelept; și când cel înțelept este instruit, primește cunoaștere.
When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is taught intelligence, he receiveth knowledge.
12 Omul drept cu înțelepciune ia aminte la casa celui stricat, dar Dumnezeu răstoarnă pe cei stricați din cauza stricăciunii lor.
The righteous regardeth attentively the house of the wicked; [but God] overturneth the wicked into unhappiness.
13 Oricine își astupă urechile la strigătul săracului, va striga și el, dar nu va fi ascultat.
Whoso stoppeth his ears against the cry of the poor, he also will cry himself, but shall not be answered.
14 Un dar dat în taină potolește mânia, și o răsplată în sân, furia aprinsă.
A gift in secret pacifieth anger, and a bribe in the bosom, strong fury.
15 Este bucurie pentru cel drept să facă judecată, dar nimicire va fi celor ce lucrează nelegiuire.
It is joy to the righteous to execute justice; but it is a terror to wrong-doers.
16 Omul care rătăcește în afara căii înțelegerii va rămâne în adunarea celor morți.
The man that wandereth astray out of the way of intelligence shall rest in the assembly of the departed.
17 Cel ce iubește plăcerea va fi un om sărac; cel ce iubește vinul și untdelemnul nu va fi bogat.
He that loveth pleasure will be a man of want: he that loveth wine and oil will not become rich.
18 Cel stricat va fi o răscumpărare pentru cel drept și călcătorul de lege pentru cel integru.
The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the treacherous shall be put in the stead of the upright.
19 Mai bine este să locuiești în pustie, decât cu o femeie certăreață și mânioasă.
It is better to dwell in a desert land, than with a quarrelsome and vexatious woman.
20 Este un tezaur de dorit și untdelemn în locuința înțeleptului, dar un om prost le cheltuiește complet.
There are a desirable treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man will swallow it up.
21 Cel ce urmează dreptate și milă găsește viață, dreptate și onoare.
He that pursueth righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.
22 Un om înțelept escaladează cetatea celui tare și dărâmă tăria încrederii ei.
A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength in which they trusted.
23 Oricine își ține gura sa și limba sa, își ține sufletul lui de la tulburare.
Whoso guardeth his mouth and his tongue guardeth his soul against distresses.
24 Batjocoritor mândru și îngâmfat este numele lui, al celui ce lucrează în furie mândră.
The presumptuous and proud, scorner is his name, dealeth in the wrath of presumption.
25 Dorința celui leneș îl ucide, fiindcă mâinile lui refuză să muncească.
The longing of the slothful will kill him; for his hands refuse to labor.
26 El dorește cu lăcomie cât este ziua de lungă, dar cel drept dă și nu se zgârcește.
All the day he feeleth a great longing; but the righteous giveth and withholdeth not.
27 Sacrificiul celui stricat este urâciune; cu cât mai mult când îl aduce cu o minte stricată?
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a sinful purpose?
28 Un martor fals va pieri, dar omul care ascultă vorbește statornic.
A lying witness shall perish; but the man that is obedient [to the law] can speak for ever.
29 Un om stricat își înăsprește fața, dar cel integru își conduce calea.
A wicked man showeth impudence in his face; but as for the upright, he will consider well his way.
30 Nu este nici înțelepciune, nici înțelegere, nici sfat împotriva DOMNULUI.
There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord.
31 Calul este pregătit pentru ziua bătăliei, dar siguranța este a DOMNULUI.
The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but with the Lord is the victory.
