Proverbe 14
1 Fiecare femeie înțeleaptă își zidește casa, dar nechibzuita o dărâmă cu mâinile ei.
The wisdom of women buildeth their house; but folly plucketh it down with her hands.
2 Cel ce umblă în integritatea lui se teme de DOMNUL, dar cel ce este pervers în căile sale îl disprețuiește.
He that walketh in his uprightness feareth Jehovah; but he that is perverted in his ways despiseth him.
3 În gura celui nebun este un toiag al mândriei, dar buzele celor înțelepți îi vor păstra.
In the fool's mouth is a rod of pride; but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
4 Unde nu sunt boi, ieslea este curată; dar mult câștig este prin tăria boului.
Where no oxen are, the crib is clean; but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
5 Un martor credincios nu minte, dar un martor fals vântură minciuni.
A faithful witness will not lie; but a false witness uttereth lies.
6 Un batjocoritor caută înțelepciunea și nu o găsește, dar cunoașterea este ușoară pentru cel ce înțelege.
A scorner seeketh wisdom, and there is none [for him]; but knowledge is easy unto the intelligent.
7 Pleacă din prezența unui om prost, când nu găsești în el buzele cunoașterii.
Go from the presence of a foolish man, in whom thou perceivest not the lips of knowledge.
8 Înțelepciunea celui chibzuit este să cunoască propria sa cale, dar nechibzuința proștilor este înșelăciune.
The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way; but the folly of the foolish is deceit.
9 Nebunii iau în râs păcatul, dar printre drepți este favoare.
Fools make a mock at trespass; but for the upright there is favour.
10 Inima își cunoaște propria ei amărăciune, și un străin nu se amestecă în bucuria ei.
The heart knoweth its own bitterness, and a stranger doth not intermeddle with its joy.
11 Casa celor stricați va fi dărâmată, dar tabernacolul celor integri va înflori.
The house of the wicked shall be overthrown; but the tent of the upright shall flourish.
12 Este o cale care i se pare dreaptă unui om, dar sfârșitul ei sunt căile morții.
There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof is the ways of death.
13 Chiar în râs inima este plină de durere, și sfârșitul acelei veselii este întristare.
Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, and the end of mirth is sadness.
14 Cel care decade în inimă va fi umplut cu propriile sale căi, și un om bun va fi umplut din el însuși.
The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways, and the good man from what is in himself.
15 Cel simplu crede fiecare cuvânt, dar omul chibzuit se uită bine la umblarea lui.
The simple believeth every word; but the prudent [man] heedeth his going.
16 Un om înțelept se teme și se depărtează de rău, dar prostul se înfurie și este încrezător.
A wise [man] feareth and departeth from evil; but the foolish is overbearing and confident.
17 Cel care repede se mânie lucrează nechibzuit, și un bărbat al planurilor stricate este urât de alții.
He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly, and a man of mischievous devices is hated.
18 Cei simpli moștenesc nechibzuință, dar cei chibzuiți sunt încoronați cu cunoaștere.
The simple inherit folly; but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19 Cei răi se apleacă în fața celor buni, și cei stricați la porțile celui drept.
The evil bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous [man].
20 Cel sărac este urât chiar de aproapele său, dar cel bogat are mulți prieteni.
He that is poor is hated even of his own neighbour; but the rich hath many friends.
21 Cel ce disprețuiește pe aproapele său păcătuiește, dar cel ce are milă de săraci, fericit este.
He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth; but he that is gracious to the afflicted, happy is he.
22 Nu rătăcesc cei ce plănuiesc răul? Dar milă și adevăr vor fi cu cei ce plănuiesc binele.
Do they not err that devise evil? but loving-kindness and truth are for those that devise good.
23 În toată munca este câștig, dar vorbăria buzelor duce numai la lipsă.
In all labour there is profit; but the talk of the lips [tendeth] only to want.
24 Coroana celor înțelepți este bogăția lor, dar nechibzuința proștilor este nechibzuință.
The crown of the wise is their riches; the folly of the foolish is folly.
25 Un martor adevărat eliberează suflete, dar un martor înșelător vântură minciuni.
A true witness delivereth souls; but deceit uttereth lies.
26 În teama de DOMNUL este încredere puternică, și copiii lui vor avea un loc de scăpare.
In the fear of Jehovah is strong confidence, and his children shall have a place of refuge.
27 Teama de DOMNUL este un izvor de viață, ca să depărteze de capcanele morții.
The fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life, to turn away from the snares of death.
28 În mulțimea poporului stă onoarea împăratului, dar în lipsa poporului este nimicirea prințului.
In the multitude of people is the king's glory; but in the lack of people is the ruin of a prince.
29 Cel încet la furie este omul unei mari înțelegeri, dar cel al unui duh nerăbdător înalță nechibzuință.
He that is slow to anger is of great understanding; but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
30 O inimă sănătoasă este viața cărnii, dar invidia este putregaiul oaselor.
A sound heart is the life of the flesh; but envy the rottenness of the bones.
31 Cel ce oprimă pe sărac ocărește pe Făcătorul său, dar cel ce îl onorează are milă de sărac.
He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker; but he that honoureth Him is gracious to the needy.
32 Cel stricat este alungat în stricăciunea lui, dar cel drept are speranță în moartea sa.
The wicked is driven away by his evil-doing; but the righteous trusteth, [even] in his death.
33 Înțelepciunea se odihnește în inima celui ce are înțelegere, dar ce este în mijlocul proștilor este făcut cunoscut.
Wisdom resteth in the heart of the intelligent [man]; but that which is in the foolish maketh itself known.
34 Dreptatea înalță o națiune, dar păcatul este ocară pentru orice popor.
Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to peoples.
35 Favoarea împăratului este îndreptată spre un servitor înțelept, dar furia lui este împotriva celui ce aduce rușinea.
The king's favour is toward a wise servant; but his wrath is [against] him that causeth shame.
