Proverbe 13
1 Un fiu înțelept ascultă instruirea tatălui său, dar un batjocoritor nu ascultă mustrarea.
A wijs sone is the teching of the fadir; but he that is a scornere, herith not, whanne he is repreuyd.
2 Un om va mânca ce este bun prin rodul gurii sale, dar sufletul călcătorilor [de lege] va mânca violență.
A man schal be fillid with goodis of the fruit of his mouth; but the soule of vnpitouse men is wickid.
3 Cel ce își păzește gura își păstrează viața, dar cel ce își deschide larg buzele va avea distrugere.
He that kepith his mouth, kepith his soule; but he that is vnwar to speke, schal feel yuels.
4 Sufletul celui leneș dorește și nu are nimic; dar sufletul celor harnici va fi îngrășat.
A slow man wole, and wole not; but the soule of hem that worchen schal be maad fat.
5 Un om drept urăște minciuna, dar un om stricat este scârbos și ajunge de rușine.
A iust man schal wlate a fals word; but a wickid man schendith, and schal be schent.
6 Dreptatea păzește pe cel integru în calea sa, dar stricăciunea răstoarnă pe păcătos.
Riytfulnesse kepith the weie of an innocent man; but wickidnesse disseyueth a synnere.
7 Este unul care face pe bogatul, totuși nu are nimic; este unul care face pe săracul, totuși are mari bogății.
A man is as riche, whanne he hath no thing; and a man is as pore, whanne he is in many richessis.
8 Răscumpărarea vieții unui om sunt bogățiile sale, dar săracul nu ascultă mustrarea.
Redempcioun of the soule of man is hise richessis; but he that is pore, suffrith not blamyng.
9 Lumina celor drepți se bucură, dar lampa celor stricați va fi stinsă.
The liyt of iust men makith glad; but the lanterne of wickid men schal be quenchid.
10 Numai prin mândrie vine cearta, dar înțelepciunea este cu cei bine sfătuiți.
Stryues ben euere a mong proude men; but thei that don alle thingis with counsel, ben gouerned bi wisdom.
11 Averea obținută prin deșertăciune va fi micșorată, dar cel ce adună prin muncă va crește.
Hastid catel schal be maad lesse; but that that is gaderid litil and litil with hond, schal be multiplied.
12 Speranța amânată face inima bolnavă, dar când vine dorința, ea este un pom al vieții.
Hope which is dilaied, turmentith the soule; a tre of lijf is desir comyng.
13 Oricine disprețuiește cuvântul va fi nimicit, dar cel ce se teme de poruncă va fi răsplătit.
He that bacbitith ony thing, byndith hym silf in to tyme to comynge; but he that dredith the comaundement, schal lyue in pees.
14 Legea celui înțelept este un izvor al vieții, pentru a depărta de capcanele morții.
The lawe of a wise man is a welle of lijf; that he bowe awei fro the falling of deth.
15 Buna înțelegere dă favoare, dar calea călcătorilor [de lege] este grea.
Good teching schal yyue grace; a swolowe is in the weie of dispiseris.
16 Fiecare om chibzuit lucrează cu cunoaștere, dar un prost își dă pe față nechibzuința.
A fel man doith alle thingis with counsel; but he that is a fool, schal opene foli.
17 Un mesager stricat cade în ticăloșie, dar un ambasador credincios este sănătate.
The messanger of a wickid man schal falle in to yuel; a feithful messanger is helthe.
18 Sărăcie și rușine vor fi pentru cel ce refuză instruirea, dar cel ce dă atenție mustrării va fi onorat.
Nedynesse and schenschip is to him that forsakith techyng; but he that assentith to a blamere, schal be glorified.
19 Dorința împlinită este dulce pentru suflet, dar este urâciune pentru proști să se depărteze de rău.
Desir, if it is fillid, delitith the soule; foolis wlaten hem that fleen yuels.
20 Cel ce umblă cu oameni înțelepți va fi înțelept, dar un însoțitor al proștilor va fi nimicit.
He that goith with wijs men, schal be wijs; the freend of foolis schal be maad lijk hem.
21 Răul urmărește pe păcătoși, dar cei drepți vor fi răsplătiți cu bine.
Yuel pursueth synneris; and goodis schulen be yoldun to iust men.
22 Un om bun lasă o moștenire copiilor copiilor săi, dar averea păcătosului este păstrată pentru cel drept.
A good man schal leeue aftir him eiris, sones, and the sones of sones; and the catel of a synnere is kept to a iust man.
23 Mâncare multă este în arătura celui sărac, dar este unul nimicit din lipsă de judecată.
Many meetis ben in the new tilid feeldis of fadris; and ben gaderid to othere men with out doom.
24 Cel care cruță nuiaua sa își urăște fiul, dar cel care îl iubește, îl disciplinează la timp.
He that sparith the yerde, hatith his sone; but he that loueth him, techith bisili.
25 Cel drept mănâncă până la săturarea sufletului său, dar pântecele celor stricați va duce lipsă.
A iust man etith, and fillith his soule; but the wombe of wickid men is vnable to be fillid.
