Nahum 1
1 Povara Ninivei. Cartea viziunii lui Naum elcoșitul.
The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
2 Dumnezeu este gelos și DOMNUL se răzbună; DOMNUL se răzbună și este furios; DOMNUL se va răzbuna pe potrivnicii lui și el păstrează furie pentru dușmanii lui.
The LORD is a jealous God and avengeth; the LORD avengeth and is full of wrath; the LORD taketh vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth [wrath] for his enemies.
3 DOMNUL este încet la mânie și măreţ în putere și nu va achita deloc pe cel stricat; DOMNUL își are calea în vârtej de vânt și în furtună, și norii sunt praful picioarelor lui.
The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will by no means clear [the guilty]: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
4 El mustră marea și o face uscat și seacă toate râurile; Basanul tânjește și Carmelul de asemenea; și floarea Libanului tânjește.
He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
5 Munţii se cutremură înaintea lui și dealurile se topesc și pământul arde la prezenţa lui, da, lumea și toți cei ce locuiește în ea.
The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt; and the earth is upheaved at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.
6 Cine poate sta înaintea indignării lui? Și cine poate rămâne în înverșunarea mâniei lui? Furia lui este turnată ca focul și stâncile sunt dărâmate de el.
Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken asunder by him.
7 DOMNUL este bun, o întăritură în ziua tulburării; și el îi cunoaște pe cei ce se încred în el.
The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that put their trust in him.
8 Dar cu un potop ce se revarsă, va distruge deplin acel loc și întunericul va urmări pe dușmanii lui.
But with an overrunning flood he will make a full end of the place thereof, and will pursue his enemies into darkness.
9 Ce vă închipuiţi împotriva DOMNULUI? El va mistui deplin; necazul nu se va ridica a doua oară.
What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make a full end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.
10 Pe când ei sunt îngrămădiţi ca spinii și beţi ca beţivii, vor fi mistuiţi ca miriștea cu totul uscată.
For though they be like tangled thorns, told be drenched as it were in their drink, they shall be devoured utterly as dry stubble.
11 Este unul ieșit din tine, care își închipuie răul împotriva DOMNULUI, un sfătuitor stricat.
There is one gone forth out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, that counselleth wickedness.
12 Astfel spune DOMNUL: Deși sunt liniștiţi și de asemenea mulţi, totuși astfel vor fi ei stârpiţi, când el va trece. Deși te-am chinuit, nu te voi mai chinui.
Thus saith the LORD: Though they be in full strength, and likewise many, even so shall they be cut down, and he shall pass away. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.
13 Fiindcă acum voi sfărâma jugul lui de pe tine și îţi voi rupe legăturile.
And now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.
14 Și DOMNUL a dat o poruncă referitor la tine, ca numele tău să nu mai fie semănat; din casa dumnezeilor tăi voi stârpi chipul cioplit și chipul turnat; îţi voi săpa mormântul, căci ești nemernic.
And the LORD hath given commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image; I will make thy grave; for thou art vile.
15 Iată, pe munţi picioarele celui ce aduce vești bune, care vestește pacea! Iudo, ţine-ţi sărbătorile solemne, împlinește-ţi promisiunile, căci cel stricat nu va mai trece prin tine; el este stârpit deplin.
Behold, upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! Keep thy feasts, O Judah, perform thy vows: for the wicked one shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
