1 Și când au ajuns aproape de Ierusalim, înspre Betfaghe și Betania, la muntele Măslinilor, a trimis înainte pe doi dintre discipolii săi,
When they had almost reached Jerusalem, as far as Bethphage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent on two of his disciples.
2 Și le-a spus: Duceți-vă în satul dinaintea voastră; și îndată ce veți fi intrat în el veți găsi un măgăruș legat, pe care nu a șezut nimeni niciodată; dezlegați-l și aduceți-l.
“Go to the village facing you,” he said; “and, as soon as you get there, you will find a foal tethered, which no one has ever ridden; untie it, and bring it.
3 Și dacă vă spune cineva: De ce faceți aceasta? Spuneți că Domnul are nevoie de el; și îndată îl va trimite aici.
And, if any one says to you ‘Why are you doing that?’, say ‘The Master wants it, and will be sure to send it back here at once.’”
4 Și s-au dus și au găsit măgărușul legat afară, lângă ușă, în locul unde se întâlnesc două drumuri; și l-au dezlegat.
The two disciples went, and, finding a foal tethered outside a door in the street, they untied it.
5 Și unii dintre cei ce stăteau în picioare acolo le-au spus: Ce faceți dezlegând măgărușul?
Some of the by-standers said to them: “What are you doing, untying the foal?”
6 Iar ei le-au spus așa cum le poruncise Isus; și i-au lăsat să plece.
And the two disciples answered as Jesus had told them; and they allowed them to go.
7 Și au adus măgărușul la Isus și și-au aruncat hainele pe el; iar el a șezut pe el.
Then they brought the foal to Jesus, and, when they had laid their cloaks on it, he seated himself upon it.
8 Și mulți își așterneau hainele pe cale; și alții tăiau ramuri din copaci și le așterneau pe cale.
Many of the people spread their cloaks on the road, while some strewed boughs which they had cut from the fields;
9 Și cei ce mergeau înainte și cei ce veneau după, strigau, spunând: Osana! Binecuvântat este cel ce vine în numele Domnului,
and those who led the way, as well as those who followed, kept shouting: “‘God save him! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
10 Binecuvântată fie împărăția tatălui nostru David, care vine în numele Domnului. Osana în cele preaînalte!
Blessed is the coming Kingdom of our father David! ‘God save him from on high!’”
11 Și Isus a intrat în Ierusalim și în templu; și după ce a privit toate lucrurile de jur împrejur, fiind ora serii, a ieșit înspre Betania cu cei doisprezece.
Jesus entered Jerusalem, and went into the Temple Courts; and, after looking round at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.
12 Și a doua zi, când veneau din Betania, a flămânzit;
The next day, after they had left Bethany, Jesus became hungry;
13 Și văzând de departe un smochin care avea frunze, a venit să vadă dacă cumva găsește ceva pe el; și când a ajuns la el, nu a găsit nimic decât frunze; fiindcă nu era timpul smochinelor.
and, noticing a fig-tree at a distance in leaf, he went to it to see if by any chance he could find something on it; but, on coming up to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.
14 Și Isus, luând cuvântul, i-a zis smochinului: De acum înainte, nimeni să nu mănânce niciodată fructe din tine. Și discipolii lui au auzit. (aiōn g165)
So, addressing the tree, he exclaimed: “May no man ever again eat of your fruit!” And his disciples heard what he said. (aiōn g165)
15 Și au venit la Ierusalim; și Isus a intrat în templu și a început să arunce afară pe cei ce vindeau și cumpărau în templu; și a răsturnat mesele schimbătorilor de bani și scaunele celor ce vindeau porumbei;
They came to Jerusalem. Jesus went into the Temple Courts, and began to drive out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of the pigeon-dealers,
16 Și nu lăsa ca cineva să poarte vreun vas prin templu.
and would not allow any one to carry anything across the Temple Courts.
17 Și i-a învățat, spunându-le: Nu este scris: Casa mea va fi numită de toate națiunile, casa rugăciunii? Dar voi ați făcut din ea o peșteră de tâlhari.
Then he began to teach. “Does not Scripture say,” he asked, “‘My House shall be called a House of Prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers.’”
18 Și scribii și preoții de seamă au auzit și au căutat cum să îl nimicească; fiindcă se temeau de el, pentru că toată mulțimea era înmărmurită de doctrina lui.
Now the Chief Priests and the Teachers of the Law heard this and began to look for some way of putting Jesus to death; for they were afraid of him, since all the people were greatly impressed by his teaching.
19 Și când s-a făcut seară a ieșit din cetate.
As soon as evening fell, Jesus and his disciples went out of the city.
20 Și dimineața, pe când treceau, au văzut smochinul uscat din rădăcini.
As they passed by early in the morning, they noticed that the fig-tree was withered up from the very roots.
21 Și Petru, amintindu-și, i-a spus: Rabi, iată, smochinul pe care l-ai blestemat este uscat.
Then Peter recollected what had occurred. “Look, Rabbi,” he exclaimed, “the fig-tree which you doomed is withered up!”
22 Iar Isus, răspunzând, le-a zis: Aveți credință în Dumnezeu!
“Have faith in God!” replied Jesus.
23 Fiindcă adevărat vă spun că oricine va spune acestui munte: Ridică-te și aruncă-te în mare; și nu se va îndoi în inima lui, ci va crede că acele lucruri pe care le spune se vor face, el va avea orice spune.
“I tell you that if any one should say to this hill ‘Be lifted up and hurled into the sea!’, without ever a doubt in his mind, but in the faith that what he says will be done, he would find that it would be.
24 De aceea vă spun: Tot ce doriți când vă rugați, să credeți că veți primi și veți avea.
And therefore I say to you ‘Have faith that whatever you ask for in prayer is already granted you, and you will find that it will be.’
25 Și când stați în picioare rugându-vă, iertați dacă aveți ceva împotriva oricui; pentru ca și Tatăl vostru care este în cer să vă ierte fărădelegile voastre.
‘And, whenever you stand up to pray, forgive any grievance that you have against any one, that your Father who is in Heaven also may forgive you your offences.”
26 Dar dacă voi nu iertați, nici Tatăl vostru care este în cer nu va ierta fărădelegile voastre.
27 Și au venit din nou la Ierusalim; și pe când se plimba el prin templu, au venit la el preoții de seamă și scribii și bătrânii,
They came to Jerusalem again. While Jesus was walking about in the Temple Courts, the Chief Priests, the Teachers of the Law, and the Councillors came up to him.
28 Și i-au spus: Cu ce autoritate faci acestea? Și cine ți-a dat această autoritate să faci acestea?
“What authority have you to do these things?” they said. “Who gave you the authority to do them?”
29 Iar Isus a răspuns și le-a zis: Vă voi întreba și eu un lucru și răspundeți-mi și vă voi spune cu ce autoritate fac acestea.
“I will put one question to you,” said Jesus. “Answer me that, and then I will tell you what authority I have to act as I do.
30 Botezul lui Ioan era din cer, sau de la oameni? Răspundeți-mi.
It is about John’s baptism. Was it of divine or human origin? Answer me that.”
31 Și discutau între ei, spunând: Dacă spunem: Din cer; va spune: Atunci de ce nu l-ați crezut?
They began arguing together; “If we say ‘divine,’ he will say ‘Why then did not you believe him?’
32 Dar dacă spunem: De la oameni; se temeau de popor, fiindcă toți oamenii îl considerau pe Ioan, că era, într-adevăr, profet.
Yet can we say ‘human’?” — They were afraid of the people, for everyone regarded John as undoubtedly a Prophet.
33 Și au răspuns și i-au zis lui Isus: Nu putem spune. Și Isus, răspunzând, le zice: Nici eu nu vă spun cu ce autoritate fac acestea.
So their answer to Jesus was — “We do not know.” “Then I,” replied Jesus, “refuse to tell you what authority I have to do these things.”
