Maleahi 2
1 Şi acum, voi, preoţilor, această poruncă este pentru voi.
And now, this commandment is for you, O ye priests.
2 Dacă refuzaţi să ascultaţi şi dacă refuzaţi să puneţi la inimă, să daţi glorie numelui meu, spune DOMNUL oştirilor, voi trimite chiar un blestem asupra voastră şi voi blestema binecuvântările voastre; da, le-am blestemat deja, deoarece nu puneţi la inimă.
If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts: I will even send out against you a curse, and I will curse your blessings; yea, I will curse the same, because ye do not lay it to heart.
3 Iată, voi corupe sămânţa voastră şi voi împrăştia balega pe feţele voastre, balega sărbătorilor voastre solemne; şi [unul] vă va îndepărta cu ea.
Behold, I will destroy unto you the seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your festive offerings; and one shall take you away with it.
4 Şi veţi şti că v-am trimis această poruncă, pentru ca legământul meu să fie cu Levi, spune DOMNUL oştirilor.
And ye shall thereby know that I have sent out unto you this commandment, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the Lord of hosts.
5 Legământul meu cu el a fost de viaţă şi de pace; şi i le-am dat pentru teama cu care s-a temut de mine şi a fost înfricoşat înaintea numelui meu.
My covenant was with him life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and because of my name he had dread.
6 Legea adevărului era în gura lui şi nu s-a găsit nelegiuire pe buzele lui; el a umblat cu mine în pace şi echitate şi a întors pe mulţi de la nelegiuire.
The law of truth was in his mouth, and falsehood was not found on his lips: in peace and equity he walked with me, and many did he turn away from iniquity.
7 Fiindcă buzele preoţilor ar trebui să păstreze cunoaştere şi ei ar trebui să caute legea la gura lui, căci el [este] mesagerul DOMNULUI oştirilor.
For the priest's lips are ever to keep knowledge, and the law are they to seek from his mouth; for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.
8 Dar voi v-aţi abătut de pe cale; aţi făcut pe mulţi să se poticnească de lege; aţi corupt legământul lui Levi, spune DOMNUL oştirilor.
But ye are indeed departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble in the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of the Levite, saith the Lord of hosts.
9 De aceea v-am făcut şi eu de dispreţuit şi înjosiţi înaintea tuturor oamenilor, după cum nu aţi ţinut căile mele, ci aţi fost părtinitori în lege.
Therefore have I also made you contemptible and low before all the people, in the same measure as ye do not keep my ways, but act with partiality in the law.
10 Nu avem noi toţi un singur tată? Nu ne-a creat un singur Dumnezeu? De ce ne purtăm cu perfidie fiecare om împotriva fratelui său, pângărind legământul părinţilor noştri?
Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? [then] why shall we deal treacherously every man against his brother, to profane the covenant of our fathers?
11 Iuda s-a purtat cu perfidie şi o urâciune s-a comis în Israel şi în Ierusalim, pentru că Iuda a pângărit sfinţenia DOMNULUI pe care el a iubit-o şi s-a căsătorit cu fiica unui dumnezeu străin.
Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination hath been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the sanctuary of the Lord which he loveth, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.
12 DOMNUL va stârpi pe omul care face aceasta, pe stăpânul şi elevul din corturile lui Iacob şi pe cel ce aduce ofrandă DOMNULUI oştirilor.
The Lord will cut off unto the man that doth this, son and grandson, out of the tents of Jacob, and him that bringeth near an offering unto the Lord of hosts.
13 Şi aceasta aţi făcut din nou, acoperind altarul DOMNULUI cu lacrimi, cu plâns şi cu strigare, într-atât că nu mai priveşte ofranda, nici nu o primeşte cu bunăvoinţă din mâna voastră.
And this do ye secondly, covering the altar of the Lord with tears, with weeping and with loud complaint, so that he turneth not any more his regard to the offerings, nor receiveth it with favor at your hand.
14 Totuşi spuneţi: Pentru ce? Pentru că DOMNUL a fost martor între tine şi soţia tinereţii tale, împotriva căreia te-ai purtat cu perfidie, totuşi ea este tovarăşa ta şi soţia legământului tău.
Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the Lord hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast indeed dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
15 Şi nu a făcut el una? Totuşi a avut rămăşiţa duhului. Şi pentru ce una? Ca el să caute o sămânţă evlavioasă. De aceea luați seama la duhul vostru şi nimeni să nu se poarte cu perfidie împotriva soţiei tinereţii lui.
And not one doth so who hath a remnant of a [good] spirit; for what desireth such a one? he seeketh [to possess] a godly posterity: therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none of you deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
16 Căci DOMNUL, Dumnezeul lui Israel, spune că urăşte divorţul; fiindcă unul acoperă violenţă cu haina lui, spune DOMNUL oştirilor; de aceea luaţi seama la duhul vostru să nu vă purtaţi cu perfidie.
For he hateth putting away [the wife], so hath said the Lord the God of Israel, and him who covereth his garment with violence, so hath said the Lord of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, and deal not treacherously.
17 Aţi obosit pe DOMNUL prin cuvintele voastre. Totuşi voi spuneţi: În ce l-am obosit? Când spuneţi: Fiecare om ce face rău este bun în ochii DOMNULUI şi el îşi găseşte plăcerea în ei; sau: Unde este Dumnezeul judecăţii?
Ye have wearied the Lord with your words: yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? By your saying, Every one that doth evil is good in the eyes of the Lord, and in them he findeth delight; or else, Where is the God of justice!
