Lamentații 5
1 Amintește-ți, DOAMNE, ce a venit peste noi; ia aminte și privește ocara noastră.
Remember, O LORD, what has happened to us. Look and see our disgrace!
2 Moștenirea noastră s-a întors la străini, casele noastre la necunoscuți.
Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, our houses to foreigners.
3 Noi suntem orfani și fără tată, mamele noastre sunt ca văduvele.
We have become fatherless orphans; our mothers are widows.
4 Noi am băut apa noastră pe bani; lemnul nostru ne este vândut nouă.
We must buy the water we drink; our wood comes at a price.
5 Gâturile noastre sunt sub persecuție; muncim și nu avem odihnă.
We are closely pursued; we are weary and find no rest.
6 Am dat mâna cu egiptenii și cu asirienii, ca să ne săturăm cu pâine.
We submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread.
7 Părinții noștri au păcătuit și nu mai sunt, iar noi am purtat nelegiuirile lor.
Our fathers sinned and are no more, but we bear their punishment.
8 Servitori au condus peste noi, nu este nimeni care să ne elibereze din mâna lor.
Slaves rule over us; there is no one to deliver us from their hands.
9 Ne câștigăm pâinea cu riscul vieților noastre din cauza sabiei pustiei.
We get our bread at the risk of our lives because of the sword in the wilderness.
10 Pielea noastră era neagră ca un cuptor din cauza foametei teribile.
Our skin is as hot as an oven with fever from our hunger.
11 Ei au necinstit femeile în Sion și pe fecioarele din cetățile lui Iuda.
Women have been ravished in Zion, virgins in the cities of Judah.
12 Prinți sunt spânzurați prin mâna lor; fețele bătrânilor nu au fost onorate.
Princes have been hung up by their hands; elders receive no respect.
13 Ei au luat pe tineri să macine și copiii au căzut sub lemne.
Young men toil at millstones; boys stagger under loads of wood.
14 Bătrânii au încetat [să mai fie] la poartă, tinerii la muzica lor.
The elders have left the city gate; the young men have stopped their music.
15 Bucuria inimii noastre a încetat; dansul nostru este întors în jale.
Joy has left our hearts; our dancing has turned to mourning.
16 Coroana a căzut de pe capul nostru; vai de noi, pentru că am păcătuit!
The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned!
17 Fiindcă inima noastră [este] leșinată; pentru aceste lucruri ochii noștri sunt întunecați.
Because of this, our hearts are faint; because of these, our eyes grow dim—
18 Din cauza muntelui Sionului, care este pustiit, vulpile se plimbă pe el.
because of Mount Zion, which lies desolate, patrolled by foxes.
19 Tu, DOAMNE, rămâi pentru totdeauna; tronul tău din generație în generație.
You, O LORD, reign forever; Your throne endures from generation to generation.
20 Pentru ce ne uiți pentru totdeauna și ne părăsești atât de mult timp?
Why have You forgotten us forever? Why have You forsaken us for so long?
21 Întoarce-ne la tine, DOAMNE și ne vom întoarce; înnoiește-ne zilele ca în vechime.
Restore us to Yourself, O LORD, so we may return; renew our days as of old,
22 Dar tu ne-ai respins pe deplin, te-ai înfuriat tare împotriva noastră.
unless You have utterly rejected us and remain angry with us beyond measure.
