Lamentații 4
1 Cum s-a întunecat aurul! Cum s-a schimbat aurul cel mai pur! Pietrele sanctuarului sunt turnate la capătul fiecărei străzi.
ALEPH. How will the gold be tarnished, [and] the fine silver changed! the sacred stones have been poured forth at the top of all the streets.
2 Fiii prețioși ai Sionului, cântăriți ca aurul pur, cum sunt ei prețuiți ca ulcioare de lut, lucrarea mâinilor olarului!
BETH. The precious sons of Zion, who were equalled in value with gold, how are they counted as earthen vessels, the works of the hands of the potter!
3 Chiar și monștrii marini [își] scot sânul [și] își alăptează micuții; fiica poporului meu a devenit crudă, ca struții în pustie.
GIMEL. Nay, serpents have drawn out the breasts, they give suck to their young, the daughters of my people are incurably cruel, as an ostrich in a desert.
4 Limba copilului sugar se lipește de cerul gurii lui, de sete; copiii mici cer pâine și nimeni nu le-o frânge.
DALETH. The tongue of the sucking child cleaves to the roof of its mouth for thirst: the little children ask for bread, [and] there is none to break [it] to them.
5 Cei hrăniți cu delicatese sunt pustiiți pe străzi; cei crescuți în purpură îmbrățișează mormane de balegă.
HE. They that feed on dainties are desolate in the streets: they that used to be nursed in scarlet have clothed themselves with dung.
6 Fiindcă pedeapsa nelegiuirii fiicei poporului meu este mai mare decât pedeapsa păcatului Sodomei, care a fost doborâtă ca într-un moment și mâinile nimănui nu au rămas pe ea.
VAU. And the iniquity of the daughter of my people has been increased beyond the iniquities of Sodoma, [the city] that was overthrown very suddenly, and none laboured against her [with their] hands.
7 Nazarinenii ei erau mai curați decât zăpada, erau mai albi decât laptele, erau mai rumeni la trup decât rubinele, lustru lor era al safirului;
ZAIN. Her Nazarites were made purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were purified [as] with fire, their polishing was superior to sapphire stone.
8 Chipul lor este mai negru decât un cărbune; ei nu mai sunt cunoscuți pe străzi; pielea li se lipește de oase, trupul li s-a ofilit, a devenit ca un băț.
HETH. Their countenance is become blacker than smoke; they are not known in the streets: their skin has cleaved to their bones; they are withered, they are become as a stick.
9 Este mai bine de cei uciși cu sabia decât de cei uciși cu foamete, pentru că aceștia lâncezesc, străpunși de lipsa roadelor câmpului.
TETH. The slain with the sword were better than they that were slain with hunger: they have departed, pierced through from [lack of] the fruits of the field.
10 Mâinile femeilor miloase au fiert pe propriii lor copii; ei au fost mâncarea lor în distrugerea fiicei poporului meu.
JOD. The hands of tender-hearted women have sodden their own children: they became meat for them in the destruction of the daughter of my people.
11 DOMNUL și-a împlinit furia; el și-a turnat mânia lui înverșunată și a aprins un foc în Sion și i-a mistuit temeliile.
CHAPH. The Lord has accomplished his wrath; he has poured out fierce anger, and has kindled a fire in Sion, and it has devoured her foundations.
12 Împărații pământului și toți locuitorii lumii nu ar fi crezut că potrivnicul și dușmanul ar putea intra pe porțile Ierusalimului.
LAMED. The kings of the earth, [even] all that dwell in the world, believed not that an enemy and oppressor would enter through the gates of Jerusalem.
13 Din cauza păcatelor profeților săi și a nelegiuirilor preoților săi, care au vărsat sângele celor drepți în mijlocul lui,
MEM. For the sins of her prophets, [and] iniquities of her priests, who shed righteous blood in the midst of her,
14 Ei au rătăcit ca orbii pe străzi, erau întinați cu sânge, astfel încât oamenii nu puteau să le atingă hainele.
NUN. her watchmen staggered in the streets, they were defiled with blood in their weakness, they touched their raiment [with it].
15 Au strigat către ei: Plecați; este necurat; Plecați, Plecați, nu atingeți; când au fugit și au rătăcit, ei au spus printre păgâni: Ei nu vor mai locui temporar acolo.
SAMECH. Depart you from the unclean ones: call you them: depart, depart, touch [them] not: for they are on fire, yes, they stagger: say you among the nations, They shall no more sojourn [there].
16 Mânia DOMNULUI i-a despărțit; nu va mai lua aminte la ei; ei nu s-au uitat la fețele preoților, nu au favorizat pe bătrâni.
AIN. The presence of the Lord [was] their portion; [but] he will not again look upon them: they regarded not the person of the priests, they pitied not the prophets.
17 Cât despre noi, ochii noștri lâncezesc după ajutorul nostru zadarnic; în vegherea noastră am vegheat spre o națiune care nu putea să ne salveze.
PHE. While we yet lived our eyes failed, while we looked in vain for our help. TSADE. We looked to a nation that could not save.
18 Ei ne vânează pașii ca să nu putem merge pe străzile noastre; sfârșitul nostru este aproape, zilele noastre sunt împlinite, pentru că sfârșitul nostru a venit.
We have hunted [for] our little ones, that they should not walk in our streets. KOPH. Our time has drawn near, our days are fulfilled, our time is come.
19 Persecutorii noștri sunt mai iuți decât acvilele cerului; ei ne-au urmărit pe munți, ne-au pândit în pustie.
Our pursuers were swifter than the eagles of the sky, they flew on the mountains, in the wilderness they laid wait for us.
20 Suflarea nărilor noastre, unsul DOMNULUI, a fost prins în gropile lor, despre care spuneam: Sub umbra lui vom trăi printre păgâni.
RECHS. The breath of our nostrils, [our] anointed Lord, was taken in their destructive snares, of whom we said, In his shadow we shall live among the Gentiles.
21 Bucură-te și veselește-te, fiică a Edomului, care locuiești în țara Uț; paharul va trece și la tine, vei fi beată și te vei dezgoli.
CHSEN. Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Idumea, that dwell in the land: yet the cup of the Lord shall pass through to you: you shall be drunken, and pour forth.
22 Pedeapsa nelegiuirii tale s-a împlinit, fiică a Sionului; el nu te va mai duce în captivitate; el îți va cerceta nelegiuirea, fiică a Edomului; el îți va descoperi păcatele.
THAU. O daughter of Sion, your iniquity has come to an end; he shall no more carry you captive: he has visited your iniquities, O daughter of Edom; he has discovered your sins.
