1 Și după Abimelec s-a ridicat Tola, fiul lui Pua, fiul lui Dodo, un bărbat din Isahar, să apere pe Israel; și el locuia în Șamir, pe muntele Efraim.
And there arose, after Abimelech, to save Israel—Tola son of Puah son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, —and, he, used to sit in Shamir, in the hill country of Ephraim;
2 Și a judecat pe Israel douăzeci și trei de ani și a murit și a fost îngropat în Șamir.
and he judged Israel, twenty-three years, —and died, and was buried in Shamir.
3 Și după el s-a ridicat Iair, un galaadit, și a judecat pe Israel douăzeci și doi de ani.
And there arose, after him, Jair the Gileadite, —and judged Israel twenty-two years.
4 Și el a avut treizeci de fii care călăreau pe treizeci de mânji de măgăriță, și ei aveau treizeci de cetăți, care se numesc Havot-Iair, până în această zi, care sunt în țara Galaadului.
Now he had thirty sons, that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had, thirty cities, —they are called Havvoth-jair, until this day, which are in the land of Gilead.
5 Și Iair a murit și a fost îngropat în Camon.
And Jair died, and was buried in Kamon.
6 Și copiii lui Israel din nou au făcut ce este rău în ochii DOMNULUI și au servit Baalilor și Astarteelor și dumnezeilor Siriei și dumnezeilor Sidonului și dumnezeilor Moabului și dumnezeilor copiilor lui Amon și dumnezeilor filistenilor și au părăsit pe DOMNUL și nu i-au servit lui.
And the sons of Israel again did the thing that was wicked in the sight of Yahweh, and served the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the sons of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, —and forsook Yahweh, and served him not.
7 Și mânia DOMNULUI s-a aprins împotriva lui Israel și i-a vândut în mâna filistenilor și în mâna copiilor lui Amon.
So the anger of Yahweh kindled upon Israel, —and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the sons of Ammon;
8 Și în acel an, ei i-au chinuit și au oprimat pe copiii lui Israel, optsprezece ani, pe toți copiii lui Israel care erau dincolo de Iordan, în țara amoriților, care este în Galaad.
and they enfeebled and oppressed the sons of Israel in that year, —eighteen years, did they this unto all the sons of Israel who were beyond the Jordan, in the land of the Amorites, that was in Gilead.
9 Mai mult, copiii lui Amon au trecut Iordanul să lupte și cu Iuda și împotriva lui Beniamin și împotriva casei lui Efraim, astfel că Israel era foarte strâmtorat.
And the sons of Ammon crossed the Jordan, to fight, even against Judah and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, —so that Israel was sore distressed.
10 Și copiii lui Israel au strigat către DOMNUL, spunând: Am păcătuit împotriva ta, pentru că am părăsit pe Dumnezeul nostru și de asemenea am servit Baalilor.
Then did the sons of Israel make outcry unto Yahweh, saying, —We have sinned against thee, because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Baals.
11 Și DOMNUL a spus copiilor lui Israel: Nu v-am eliberat de egipteni și de amoriți și de copiii lui Amon și de filisteni?
Then said Yahweh unto the sons of Israel, —Was it not, from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, and from the sons of Ammon, and from the Philistines, [that I saved you]?
12 Sidonienii de asemenea și amaleciții și maoniții v-au oprimat și ați strigat către mine iar eu v-am eliberat din mâna lor.
The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, oppressed you, —and ye made outcry unto me, and I saved you out of their hand.
13 Totuși voi m-ați părăsit și ați servit altor dumnezei, de aceea nu vă voi mai elibera.
Yet have, ye, forsaken me, and served other gods, —therefore will I not again save you.
14 Duceți-vă și strigați la dumnezeii pe care vi i-ați ales, să vă salveze ei în timpul necazului vostru.
Go and make outcry unto the gods whom ye have chosen, —they, must save you, in the time of your tribulation.
15 Și copiii lui Israel au spus DOMNULUI: Am păcătuit, fă-ne cum ți se pare bine, eliberează-ne numai în ziua aceasta, te rugăm.
And the sons of Israel said unto Yahweh—We have sinned, do, thou, with us, according to all that is fitting in thine eyes, —only rescue us, we beseech thee this day.
16 Și au îndepărtat dumnezeii străini din mijlocul lor și au servit DOMNULUI, și sufletul său s-a mâhnit de nefericirea lui Israel.
And they put away the gods of the stranger out of their midst, and served Yahweh, —and his soul was impatient of the misery of Israel.
17 Atunci copiii lui Amon s-au adunat și și-au înălțat corturile în Galaad. Și copiii lui Israel s-au adunat și și-au înălțat corturile în Mițpa.
Now the sons of Ammon were called out, and they encamped in Gilead, —and the sons of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpah.
18 Și poporul și prinții Galaadului, au spus unul către altul: Care bărbat este acesta care va începe să lupte împotriva copiilor lui Amon? El va fi capul tuturor locuitorilor Galaadului.
Then said the people, the princes of Gilead, one to another, Who is the man that will begin to fight against the sons of Ammon? he shall become head to all the inhabitants of Gilead.
