Iona 3
1 Şi cuvântul DOMNULUI a venit la Iona a doua oară, spunând:
And the worde of the Lord came vnto Ionah the seconde time, saying,
2 Ridică-te, mergi la Ninive, acea mare cetate, şi predică-i această predicare pe care ţi-o voi porunci.
Arise, goe vnto Nineueh that great citie, and preach vnto it the preaching, which I bid thee.
3 Astfel Iona s-a ridicat şi a mers la Ninive, conform cuvântului DOMNULUI. Şi Ninive era o cetate peste măsură de mare, cât o călătorie de trei zile.
So Ionah arose and went to Nineueh according to ye word of the Lord: now Nineueh was a great and excellent citie of three dayes iourney.
4 Şi Iona a început să intre în cetate cale de o zi şi a strigat şi a zis: Încă patruzeci de zile şi Ninive va fi dărâmată!
And Ionah began to enter into the citie a dayes iourney, and he cryed, and said, Yet fourtie dayes, and Nineueh shalbe ouerthrowen.
5 Atunci oamenii din Ninive l-au crezut pe Dumnezeu şi au proclamat un post şi au îmbrăcat pânză de sac, de la cel mai mare dintre ei până la cel mai mic dintre ei.
So the people of Nineueh beleeued God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth from ye greatest of the euen to the least of them.
6 Căci a ajuns cuvântul la împăratul din Ninive; şi s-a ridicat de pe tronul lui şi şi-a scos roba de pe el şi s-a acoperit cu pânză de sac şi s-a aşezat în cenuşă.
For worde came vnto the King of Nineueh, and he rose from his throne, and he layed his robe from him, and couered him with sackecloth, and sate in ashes.
7 Şi el a făcut să fie proclamată şi publicată aceasta prin Ninive, prin decretul împăratului şi a nobililor săi, spunând: Niciun om, nici animal, nici cireadă, nici turmă, să nu guste nimic, nici să nu se hrănească, nici să nu bea apă;
And he proclaimed and said through Nineueh, (by the counsell of ye king and his nobles) saying, Let neither man, nor beast, bullock nor sheep taste any thing, neither feed nor drinke water.
8 Ci şi om şi animal să fie acoperit cu pânză de sac şi să strige tare către Dumnezeu, da, să se întoarcă fiecare de la calea lui cea rea şi de la violenţa care este în mâinile lor.
But let man and beast put on sackecloth, and crie mightily vnto God: yea, let euery man turne from his euill way, and from the wickednesse that is in their handes.
9 Cine poate spune dacă Dumnezeu nu se va întoarce şi nu se va pocăi, şi se va întoarce de la mânia lui înverşunată, ca să nu pierim?
Who can tell if God will turne, and repent and turne away from his fierce wrath, that we perish not?
10 Şi Dumnezeu a văzut lucrările lor, că s-au întors de la calea lor cea rea; şi Dumnezeu s-a pocăit de răul pe care spusese că li-l va face şi nu l-a făcut.
And God sawe their workes that they turned from their euill wayes: and God repented of the euill that he had said that he woulde doe vnto them, and he did it not.
