Joel 2
1 Sunaţi din trâmbiţă în Sion şi sunaţi alarma pe muntele meu cel sfânt; să tremure toţi locuitorii ţării, pentru că ziua DOMNULUI vine, pentru că este aproape;
Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm on my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble in fear, for the day of Yahweh is coming; indeed, it is near.
2 O zi de întuneric şi de întunecime, o zi cu nori şi de întuneric gros; ca dimineaţa revărsată peste munţi; un popor mare şi puternic; nu a fost vreodată asemenea, nici nu va mai fi după el, în anii multor generaţii.
It is a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness. Like the dawn that spreads on the mountains, a large and mighty army is approaching. There has never been an army like it, and there never will be again, even after many generations.
3 Un foc mistuie înaintea lor; şi în spatele lor o flacără arde; ţara este ca grădina Edenului înaintea lor şi în spatele lor o pustie părăsită; da, şi nimic nu le va scăpa.
A fire is consuming everything in front of it, and behind it a flame is burning. The land is like the garden of Eden in front of it, but behind it there is a ruined wilderness. Indeed, nothing will escape from it.
4 Înfăţişarea lor este ca înfăţişarea cailor; şi ca nişte călăreţi, astfel vor alerga.
The army's appearance is like horses, and they run like horsemen.
5 Vor sări ca zgomotul carelor pe vârfurile munţilor, ca zgomotul flăcării de foc care mistuie miriştea, ca un popor puternic desfăşurat pentru bătălie.
They jump with a noise like that of chariots on the tops of the mountains, like the noise of fiery flames that devour the stubble, like a mighty army ready for battle.
6 Înaintea feţei lor popoarele vor fi foarte îndurerate; toate feţele se vor înnegri.
At their presence people are in anguish and all their faces become pale.
7 Ei vor alerga precum războinicii; vor urca pe zid ca bărbaţii de război; şi vor mărşălui fiecare pe căile lui şi nu vor rupe rândurile lor;
They run like mighty warriors; they climb the walls like soldiers; they march, every one in step, and do not break their ranks.
8 Nici nu se împing unul pe altul; fiecare va merge pe cărarea lui; şi când vor cădea pe sabie, nu vor fi răniţi.
Neither does one thrust another aside; they march, each in his path; they break through the defenses and do not fall out of line.
9 Vor alerga încoace şi încolo în cetate; vor alerga pe zid, se vor cățăra pe case; ca un hoţ vor intra pe ferestre.
They rush on the city, they run on the wall, they climb in the houses, and they go through the windows like thieves.
10 Pământul se va zgudui înaintea lor; cerurile vor tremura; soarele şi luna vor fi întunecate şi stelele îşi vor retrage strălucirea;
The earth shakes in front of them, the heavens tremble, the sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars stop shining.
11 Şi DOMNUL îşi va înălţa vocea înaintea armatei sale, pentru că tabăra lui este foarte mare, pentru că este puternic cel care împlineşte cuvântul său, pentru că ziua DOMNULUI este mare şi foarte înfricoşătoare; şi cine o poate suporta?
Yahweh raises his voice in front of his army, for his warriors are very numerous; for they are strong, those who carry out his commands. For the day of Yahweh is great and very terrible. Who can survive it?
12 De aceea chiar acum, spune DOMNUL, întoarceţi-vă la mine cu toată inima voastră şi cu post şi cu plâns şi cu jale;
“Yet even now,” says Yahweh, “Return to me with all your heart. Fast, weep, and mourn.”
13 Şi sfâşiaţi-vă inima, şi nu hainele, şi întoarceţi-vă la DOMNUL Dumnezeul vostru, pentru că el este cu har şi milostiv, încet la mânie şi de o mare bunătate şi se pocăieşte de rău.
Tear your heart and not only your garments, and return to Yahweh your God. For he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abundant in covenant faithfulness, and he would like to turn from inflicting punishment.
14 Cine ştie dacă el nu se va întoarce şi nu se va pocăi şi nu va lăsa o binecuvântare după el; un dar de mâncare şi un dar de băutură pentru DOMNUL Dumnezeul vostru?
Who knows? Will he perhaps turn and have compassion, and leave a blessing behind him, a grain offering and a drink offering for Yahweh your God?
15 Sunaţi trâmbiţa în Sion, sfinţiţi un post, anunțați o adunare solemnă;
Blow the trumpet in Zion, call for a holy fast, and call a holy assembly.
16 Adunaţi poporul, sfinţiţi adunarea, strângeţi pe bătrâni, adunaţi copiii şi pe cei care sug la sâni; să iasă mirele din camera lui şi mireasa din cămăruţa ei.
Gather the people, call for the holy assembly. Assemble the elders, gather the children and the nursing infants. Let the bridegrooms come out of their rooms, and the brides out of their bridal chambers.
17 Preoţii, servitorii DOMNULUI, să plângă între portic şi altar şi să spună: Cruţă pe poporul tău, DOAMNE şi nu da moştenirea ta ocărârii, ca păgânii să stăpânească asupra lor, pentru a spune ei printre popoare: Unde este Dumnezeul lor?
Let the priests, the servants of Yahweh, weep between the porch and the altar. Let them say, “Spare your people, Yahweh, and do not make your inheritance into an object of scorn, that the nations mock them. Why should they say among the nations, 'Where is their God?'”
18 Atunci DOMNUL va fi gelos pentru ţara lui şi va avea milă de poporul său.
Then Yahweh was zealous for his land and had pity on his people.
19 Da, DOMNUL va răspunde şi va spune poporului său: Iată, eu vă voi trimite grâne şi vin şi untdelemn şi vă veţi sătura cu ele; şi nu vă voi mai face de ocară printre păgâni;
Yahweh answered his people, “Look, I will send you grain, new wine, and oil. You will be satisfied with them, and I will no longer make you a disgrace among the nations.
20 Ci voi îndepărta mult de la voi armata de la nord şi o voi alunga într-o ţară stearpă şi pustie, cu faţa spre marea de est şi cu spatele spre marea de vest, şi putoarea ei se va ridica şi mirosul ei urât se va urca, pentru că a făcut lucruri mari.
I will remove the northern attackers far from you, and will drive them into a dry and abandoned land. The front of their army will go into the eastern sea, and the rear into the western sea. Its stench will rise, and its bad smell will rise.” Indeed, he has done great things.
21 Nu te teme, ţară; fii veselă şi bucură-te, pentru că DOMNUL va face lucruri mari.
Do not fear, land, be glad and rejoice, for Yahweh will do great things.
22 Nu vă temeţi, voi vite ale câmpului: pentru că păşunile pustiei înverzesc, pentru că pomul îşi poartă rodul, smochinul şi viţa îşi dau tăria.
Do not fear, beasts of the field, for the pastures of the wilderness will sprout, the trees will bear their fruit, and the fig trees and the vines will yield their full harvest.
23 Fiţi veseli, voi copii ai Sionului, şi bucuraţi-vă în DOMNUL Dumnezeul vostru, pentru că el v-a dat ploaia timpurie cu măsură şi va face să cadă pentru voi ploaia, ploaia timpurie şi ploaia târzie în luna întâi.
Be glad, people of Zion, and rejoice in Yahweh your God. For he will give you the autumn rain in due course and bring down showers for you, the autumn rain and the spring rain as before.
24 Şi ariile vor fi pline de grâu şi teascurile se vor revărsa de vin şi de untdelemn.
The threshing floors will be full of wheat, and the vats will overflow with new wine and oil.
25 Şi vă voi da înapoi anii pe care i-a mâncat lăcusta, muşiţa şi omida şi forfecarul, armata mea cea mare pe care am trimis-o printre voi.
“I will restore to you the years of crops that the swarming locust has eaten —the great locust, the devouring locust, and the destroying locust— my mighty army that I sent among you.
26 Şi veţi mânca în abundenţă şi vă veţi sătura şi veţi lăuda numele DOMNULUI Dumnezeul vostru, care a lucrat minunat cu voi; şi poporul meu nu se va ruşina niciodată.
You will eat plentifully and be full, and praise the name of Yahweh your God, who has done wonders among you, and I will never again bring shame on my people.
27 Şi veţi cunoaşte că sunt în mijlocul lui Israel şi că eu sunt DOMNUL Dumnezeul vostru şi niciun altul; şi poporul meu nu se va ruşina niciodată.
You will know that I am among Israel, and that I am Yahweh your God, and there is none else, and I will never bring shame on my people.
28 Şi după aceea se va întâmpla că voi turna duhul meu peste toată făptura; şi fiii voştri şi fiicele voastre vor profeţi, bătrânii voştri vor visa vise, tinerii voştri vor avea viziuni;
It will come about afterward that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
29 Şi de asemenea, în acele zile, voi turna duhul meu peste servitori şi peste servitoare.
Also on servants and female servants, in those days I will pour out my Spirit.
30 Şi voi arăta minuni în ceruri şi pe pământ: sânge şi foc şi stâlpi de fum.
I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood, fire, and pillars of smoke.
31 Soarele se va schimba în întuneric şi luna în sânge, înainte ca ziua cea mare şi înfricoşătoare a DOMNULUI să vină.
The sun will turn into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Yahweh comes.
32 Şi se va întâmpla, că oricine va chema numele DOMNULUI va fi eliberat, pentru că în muntele Sionului şi în Ierusalim va fi eliberare, precum a spus DOMNUL, şi în rămăşiţa pe care DOMNUL o va chema.
It will be that everyone who calls on the name of Yahweh will be saved. For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be those who escape, as Yahweh has said, and among the survivors, those whom Yahweh calls.
