Iov 22
1 Atunci Elifaz temanitul a răspuns și a zis:
Then Eliphaz the Thaemanite answered and said,
2 Poate un om să fie de folos lui Dumnezeu, așa cum cel ce este înțelept își este de folos lui însuși?
Is it not the Lord that teaches understanding and knowledge?
3 Este vreo plăcere pentru cel Atotputernic în aceea că ești drept? Sau are el câștig în aceea că îți faci căile desăvârșite?
For what matters it to the Lord, if you were blameless in [your] works? or is it profitable that you should perfect your way?
4 Te va mustra el de frica ta? Va intra cu tine la judecată?
Will you maintain and plead your own cause? and will he enter into judgment with you?
5 Nu este stricăciunea ta mare și nelegiuirile tale infinite?
Is not your wickedness abundant, and your sins innumerable?
6 Pentru că ai luat fără motiv o garanție de la fratele tău și ai despuiat pe cei goi de hainele lor.
And you have taken security of your brethren for nothing, and have taken away the clothing of the naked.
7 Nu ai dat apă celui obosit să bea și ai oprit pâinea de la cel flămând.
Neither have you given water to the thirsty to drink, but have taken away the morsel of the hungry.
8 Dar omul puternic, a avut pământul; și cel demn de cinste a locuit pe acesta.
And you have accepted the persons of some; and you have established those [that were already settled] on the earth.
9 Ai alungat văduvele fără nimic și brațele celor fără tată au fost frânte.
But you have sent widows away empty, and has afflicted orphans.
10 De aceea capcane sunt împrejurul tău și teamă năprasnică te tulbură;
Therefore snares have compassed you, and disastrous war has troubled you.
11 Sau întuneric, încât nu poți vedea; și abundență de ape te acoperă.
The light has proved darkness to you, and water has covered you on your lying down.
12 Nu este Dumnezeu în înaltul cerului? Și iată, înălțimea stelelor, cât de sus sunt ele!
Does not he that dwells in the high places observe? and has he not brought down the proud?
13 Iar tu spui: Cum știe Dumnezeu? Poate el să judece prin norul întunecos?
And you has said, What does the Mighty One know? does he judge in the dark?
14 Nori groși îi sunt acoperământ și el nu vede; și umblă pe rotocolul cerului.
A cloud is his hiding-place, and he shall not be seen; and he passes through the circle of heaven.
15 Ai însemnat calea cea veche pe care oameni stricați au călcat-o în picioare?
Will you [not] mark the old way, which righteous men have trodden?
16 Care a fost stârpită nelatimp, a cărei temelie a fost inundată cu un potop;
who were seized before their time: their foundations [are as] an overflowing stream.
17 Care au spus lui Dumnezeu: Pleacă de la noi; și ce poate face cel Atotputernic pentru ei?
Who say, What will the Lord do to us? or what will the Almighty bring upon us?
18 Totuși el a umplut casele lor cu bunătăți, dar sfatul celor stricați este departe de mine.
Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel for the wicked is far from him.
19 Cei drepți văd aceasta și se veselesc; și cei nevinovați au râs de ei în batjocură.
The righteous have seen [it], and laughed, and the blameless one has derided [them].
20 Iată, averea noastră nu este stârpită, dar rămășița lor o mistuie focul.
Verily their substance has been utterly destroyed, and the fire shall devour what is left of their [property].
21 Fă-te cunoscut cu el și fii în pace, prin aceasta binele va veni la tine.
Be firm, I pray you, if you can endure; then your fruit shall prosper.
22 Primește, te rog, legea din gura lui și strânge cuvintele lui în inima ta.
And receive a declaration from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart.
23 Dacă te întorci la cel Atotputernic, vei fi zidit, vei pune departe nelegiuirea de la corturile tale.
And if you shall turn and humble yourself before the Lord, you have [thus] removed unrighteousness far from your habitation.
24 Atunci vei strânge aur precum țărâna și aurul din Ofir precum pietrele pâraielor.
You shall lay up for yourself [treasure] in a heap on the rock; and Sophir [shall be] as the rock of the torrent.
25 Da, cel Atotputernic va fi apărarea ta și vei avea destul argint.
So the Almighty shall be your helper from enemies, and he shall bring you forth pure as silver that has been tried by fire.
26 Căci atunci te vei desfăta în cel Atotputernic și îți vei ridica fața spre Dumnezeu.
Then shall you have boldness before the Lord, looking up cheerfully to heaven.
27 Te vei ruga lui și el te va asculta și îți vei împlini promisiunile.
And he shall hear you when you pray to him, and he shall grant you [power] to pay your vows.
28 De asemenea vei hotărî un lucru și îți va fi întemeiat; și lumina va străluci pe căile tale.
And he shall establish to you again a habitation of righteousness and there shall be light upon your paths.
29 Când oamenii sunt doborâți, atunci vei spune: Va fi înălțare; și el va salva pe cel înjosit.
Because you have humbled yourself; and you shall say, [Man] has behaved proudly, but he shall save him that is of lowly eyes.
30 El va elibera insula celui nevinovat și ea este eliberată prin puritatea mâinilor tale.
He shall deliver the innocent, and do you save yourself by your pure hands.
