Iov 11

1 Atunci a răspuns Țofar naamatitul și a zis:

And Zophar the Naamathite answered and said,

2 Nu ar trebui să se răspundă mulțimii de cuvinte? Și ar trebui să fie declarat drept un om plin de vorbire?

Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man of much talk be justified?

3 Ar trebui minciunile tale să facă pe oameni să tacă? Și când tu batjocorești, nu te va face niciun om de rușine?

Should thy fictions make men hold their peace? and shouldest thou mock, and no one make [thee] ashamed?

4 Pentru că ai spus: Doctrina mea este pură și eu sunt curat în ochii tăi.

For thou sayest, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.

5 Dar de ar vorbi Dumnezeu și și-ar deschide buzele împotriva ta;

But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;

6 Și de ți-ar arăta tainele înțelepciunii, că ele sunt dublul a ceea ce este! Să știi de aceea că Dumnezeu îți cere mai puțin decât merită nelegiuirea ta.

And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, how that they are the double of what is realised; and know that God passeth by [much] of thine iniquity!

7 Poți tu prin cercetare să găsești pe Dumnezeu? Poți afla până la desăvârșire pe cel Atotputernic?

Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty to perfection?

8 Este la fel de înaltă ca cerul; ce poți tu face? Mai adâncă decât iadul; ce poți tu cunoaște? (Sheol h7585)

[It is as] the heights of heaven; what wilt thou do? deeper than Sheol; what canst thou know? (Sheol h7585)

9 Măsura ei este mai lungă decât pământul și mai largă decât marea.

The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.

10 Dacă el retează și închide, sau adună, atunci cine îl poate împiedica?

If he pass by, and shut up, and call to judgment, who can hinder him?

11 Pentru că el cunoaște oamenii deșerți și vede stricăciunea; nu va lua el aminte la ea?

For he knoweth vain men, and seeth wickedness when [man] doth not consider it;

12 Căci omul deșert ar fi înțelept, deși omul se naște ca mânzul unei măgărițe sălbatice.

Yet a senseless man will make bold, though man be born [like] the foal of a wild ass.

13 Dacă îți pregătești inima și îți întinzi mâinile spre el,

If thou prepare thy heart and stretch out thy hands toward him,

14 Dacă este nelegiuire în mâna ta, pune-o departe și să nu locuiască stricăciunea în corturile tale.

If thou put far away the iniquity which is in thy hand, and let not wrong dwell in thy tents;

15 Fiindcă atunci îți vei ridica fața fără pată; da, vei fi neclintit și nu te vei teme;

Surely then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot, and thou shalt be stedfast and shalt not fear:

16 Deoarece îți vei uita nefericirea și ți-o vei aminti ca ape care trec;

For thou shalt forget misery; as waters that are passed away shalt thou remember it;

17 Și vârsta ta va fi mai senină ca miezul zilei; vei străluci, vei fi ca dimineața.

And life shall arise brighter than noonday; though thou be enshrouded in darkness, thou shalt be as the morning,

18 Și vei fi în siguranță, pentru că este speranță; da, vei săpa împrejurul tău și te vei odihni în siguranță.

And thou shalt have confidence, because there shall be hope; and having searched about [thee], thou shalt take rest in safety.

19 De asemenea te vei culca și nimeni nu te va înspăimânta; da, mulți te vor implora.

Yea, thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; and many shall seek thy favour.

20 Dar ochii celor stricați se vor sfârși și nu vor scăpa și speranța lor va fi darea duhului.

But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and [all] refuge shall vanish from them, and their hope [shall be] the breathing out of life.
