Ieremia 42

1 Atunci toate căpeteniile armatelor și Iohanan, fiul lui Careah, și Iezania, fiul lui Hoșaia, și tot poporul de la cel mai mic până la cel mai mare, s-au apropiat,

Then came near all the captains of the armies, and Jochanan the son of Kareach, and Yezanyah the son of Hosha'yah, and all the people from the least even unto the greatest,

2 Și i-au spus profetului Ieremia: Să fie, te implorăm, cererea noastră primită înaintea ta și roagă-te pentru noi DOMNULUI Dumnezeului tău, pentru toată această rămășiță; (pentru că am rămas doar puțini din mulți, precum ne văd ochii tăi);

And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we beseech thee, our humble supplication be accepted before thee, and pray in our behalf unto the Lord thy God, in behalf of all this remnant; [for we are left but a few of many, as thy own eyes do see us: ]

3 Ca DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău să ne arate calea pe care să umblăm și lucrul pe care să îl facem.

That the Lord thy God may tell us the way whereon we should walk, and the thing that we should do.

4 Atunci profetul Ieremia le-a spus: V-am auzit; iată, mă voi ruga DOMNULUI Dumnezeului vostru conform cuvintelor voastre; și se va întâmpla, că orice lucru DOMNUL vă va răspunde, eu vi-l voi vesti; nu voi ascunde nimic de la voi.

Then said Jeremiah the prophet unto them, I have heard you: behold, I will pray unto the Lord your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatsoever thing the Lord will answer you, I will tell unto you; I will withhold not a word from you.

5 Atunci ei i-au spus lui Ieremia: DOMNUL să fie un martor adevărat și credincios între noi, dacă nu vom face conform cu toate lucrurile pentru care DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău te va trimite la noi.

But they said to Jeremiah, May the Lord be a true and faithful witness against us, if we do not act entirely according to all the word with which the Lord thy God may send thee to us:

6 Fie bine sau fie rău, noi vom asculta de vocea DOMNULUI Dumnezeului nostru, la care te trimitem; ca să ne fie bine, când facem ce poruncește vocea DOMNULUI Dumnezeului nostru.

Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will hearken to the voice of the Lord our God, to whom we send thee; in order that it may be well with us, when we hearken to the voice of the Lord our God.

7 Și s-a întâmplat că, după zece zile cuvântul DOMNULUI a venit la Ieremia.

And it came to pass at the end of ten days, that the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah.

8 Atunci el l-a chemat pe Iohanan, fiul lui Careah, și pe toate căpeteniile armatelor care erau cu el și pe tot poporul de la cel mai mic până la cel mai mare,

Then called he Jochanan the son of Kareach, and all the captains of the armies who were with him, and all the people from the least even to the greatest,

9 Și le-a spus: Astfel spune DOMNUL Dumnezeul lui Israel, la care m-ați trimis să prezint cererea voastră înaintea lui:

And he said unto them, Thus hath said the Lord, the God of Israel, unto whom ye sent me to present your humble supplication before him:

10 Dacă voi veți rămâne în această țară, atunci eu vă voi zidi și nu vă voi dărâma și vă voi sădi și nu vă voi smulge, pentru că mă pocăiesc de răul pe care vi l-am făcut.

If ye will indeed remain in this land, then will I build you up, and I will not pull you down, and I will plant you, and not pluck you up; for I have bethought me of the evil that I have done unto you.

11 Nu vă temeți de împăratul Babilonului, de care vă temeți; nu vă temeți de el, spune DOMNUL, pentru că eu sunt cu voi să vă salvez și să vă eliberez din mâna lui.

Be ye not afraid because of the king of Babylon, of whom ye are afraid: have no fear of him, saith the Lord; for I am with you to save you, and to deliver you out of his hand.

12 Și vă voi arăta mile, ca el să aibă milă de voi și să vă facă să vă întoarceți în propria voastră țară.

And I will give unto you mercy, that he may have mercy upon you, and let you return to your own land.

13 Dar dacă veți spune: Nu vom locui în această țară, nici nu vom asculta de vocea DOMNULUI Dumnezeului vostru,

But if ye say, We will not remain in this land, so as not to hearken to the voice of the Lord your God,

14 Spunând: Nu; ci vom merge în țara Egiptului, unde nu vom vedea război, nici nu vom auzi sunet de trâmbiță, nici nu vom avea foame de pâine; și acolo vom locui;

Saying, No; but into the land of Egypt will we go, that we may not see war, nor hear the sound of the cornet, and that we may not have hunger for bread; and there will we dwell;

15 Ascultați acum cuvântul DOMNULUI, voi rămășiță a lui Iuda: Astfel spune DOMNUL oștirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: Dacă în întregime vă veți îndrepta fețele să intrați în Egipt și să mergeți să locuiți temporar acolo;

And now therefore hear the word of the Lord, ye remnant of Judah, Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, If ye will indeed set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go thither to sojourn there:

16 Atunci se va întâmpla, că sabia, de care vă temeți, vă va ajunge acolo în țara Egiptului, și foametea, de care v-ați înspăimântat, vă va urma îndeaproape acolo în Egipt; și acolo veți muri.

Then shall the sword, of which ye are afraid, there overtake you in the land of Egypt; and the famine, whereof ye are in dread, shall there cleave close unto you in Egypt; and there shall ye die.

17 Astfel va fi cu toți oamenii care își îndreaptă fețele să meargă în Egipt să locuiască temporar acolo; vor muri de sabie, de foamete și de ciumă; și nimeni dintre ei nu va rămâne nici nu va scăpa de răul pe care îl voi aduce asupra lor.

So shall be all the men that have set their faces to go into Egypt to sojourn there, —they shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence; and they shall have none that remaineth or escapeth from the evil that I am bringing over them.

18 Pentru că astfel spune DOMNUL oștirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: Precum mânia mea și furia mea au fost turnate asupra locuitorilor Ierusalimului, tot astfel furia mea va fi turnată asupra voastră, când veți intra în Egipt; și veți fi detestați și veți fi o înmărmurire și un blestem și o ocară; și nu veți mai vedea acest loc.

For thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, As my anger and my fury were poured forth over the inhabitants of Jerusalem: so shall my fury be poured forth over you, when ye enter into Egypt; and ye shall become an oath, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a disgrace; and ye shall never see this place again.

19 DOMNUL a spus referitor la voi, voi rămășiță a lui Iuda: Nu mergeți în Egipt; să știți într-adevăr că v-am avertizat în această zi.

The Lord hath spoken concerning you, O ye remnant of Judah, “Ye shall not go into Egypt:” ye must know for certain that I have warned you this day.

20 Pentru că voi v-ați fățărnicit în inimile voastre, când m-ați trimis la DOMNUL Dumnezeul vostru, spunând: Roagă-te pentru noi DOMNULUI Dumnezeul nostru; și conform cu toate câte DOMNUL Dumnezeul nostru va spune, astfel să ne vestești și noi vom face.

For ye have dissembled in regard to what your intentions are; for ye sent me unto the Lord your God, saying, Pray in our behalf unto the Lord our God: and in accordance with all that the Lord our God may say, so tell unto us, and we will do it.

21 Și acum, eu v-am vestit în această zi; dar voi nu ați făcut ce poruncește vocea DOMNULUI Dumnezeul vostru, nici vreun lucru pentru care el m-a trimis la voi.

And I have told it to you this day; but ye have not hearkened to the voice of the Lord your God, and this in all with which he hath sent me unto you.

22 De aceea acum să știți, într-adevăr, că veți muri de sabie, de foamete și de ciumă, în locul unde doriți să mergeți și să locuiți temporar.

But now know for certain that ye shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place whither ye desire to go to sojourn there.
