Ieremia 11

1 Cuvântul care a venit la Ieremia de la DOMNUL, spunând:

The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying:

2 Ascultați cuvintele acestui legământ și vorbiți bărbaților lui Iuda și locuitorilor Ierusalimului;

'Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

3 Și spune-le: Astfel spune DOMNUL Dumnezeul lui Israel: Blestemat fie omul care nu ascultă de cuvintele acestui legământ,

and say thou unto them: Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel: Cursed be the man that heareth not the words of this covenant,

4 Pe care l-am poruncit părinților voștri în ziua în care i-am scos din țara Egiptului, din cuptorul de fier, spunând: Ascultați de vocea mea și faceți-le, conform cu toate cele ce vă poruncesc, astfel veți fi poporul meu și eu voi fi Dumnezeul vostru;

which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying: Hearken to My voice, and do them, according to all which I command you; so shall ye be My people, and I will be your God;

5 Ca să împlinesc jurământul pe care l-am jurat părinților voștri, să le dau o țară în care curge lapte și miere, precum este în această zi. Atunci am răspuns și am spus: Așa să fie, DOAMNE.

that I may establish the oath which I swore unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as at this day.' Then answered I, and said: 'Amen, O LORD.'

6 Atunci DOMNUL mi-a spus: Vestește toate aceste cuvinte în cetățile lui Iuda și pe străzile Ierusalimului, spunând: Ascultați cuvintele acestui legământ și faceți‑le.

And the LORD said unto me: 'Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying: Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.

7 Pentru că i-am avertizat cu stăruință pe părinții voștri în ziua în care i-am scos din țara Egiptului, până în această zi, sculându-mă devreme și avertizându‑i, spunând: Ascultați de vocea mea.

For I earnestly forewarned your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, forewarning betimes and often, saying: Hearken to My voice.

8 Totuși ei nu au ascultat de mine, nici nu și-au plecat urechea, ci fiecare a umblat în închipuirea inimii lui rele; de aceea voi aduce asupra lor toate cuvintele acestui legământ, pe care li le-am poruncit să le facă; dar nu le-au făcut.

Yet they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the stubbornness of their evil heart; therefore I brought upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they did them not.'

9 Și DOMNUL mi-a spus: S-a găsit o uneltire printre bărbații lui Iuda și printre locuitorii Ierusalimului.

And the LORD said unto me: 'A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

10 Ei s-au întors la nelegiuirile strămoșilor lor, care au refuzat să asculte cuvintele mele; și au mers după alți dumnezei, pentru a le servi; casa lui Israel și casa lui Iuda au rupt legământul meu pe care l-am făcut cu părinții lor.

They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear My words; and they are gone after other gods to serve them; the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken My covenant which I made with their fathers.

11 De aceea astfel spune DOMNUL: Iată, voi aduce asupra lor răul de care nu vor fi în stare să scape; și chiar dacă vor striga către mine, eu nu le voi da ascultare.

Therefore thus saith the LORD: Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto Me, I will not hearken unto them.

12 Atunci cetățile lui Iuda și locuitorii Ierusalimului vor merge și vor striga către dumnezeii cărora le oferă tămâie; dar nicidecum ei nu îi vor salva în timpul tulburării lor.

Then shall the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem go and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer; but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.

13 Căci conform cu numărul cetăților tale au fost dumnezeii tăi, Iudo; și conform cu numărul străzilor Ierusalimului ați ridicat voi altare acelui lucru rușinos, altare pentru a arde tămâie lui Baal.

For according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to the shameful thing, even altars to offer unto Baal.

14 De aceea tu nu te ruga pentru acest popor, nici nu înălța strigăt sau rugăciune pentru ei, pentru că nu îi voi asculta în timpul în care vor striga către mine din cauza tulburării lor.

Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them; for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto Me for their trouble.'

15 Ce are preaiubita mea a face în casa mea, văzând că ea a lucrat cu desfrânare cu mulți și carnea cea sfântă este luată de la tine? Când faci răul, atunci te bucuri.

What hath My beloved to do in My house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the hallowed flesh is passed from thee? When thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.

16 DOMNUL ți-a pus numele: Un măslin verde, frumos și cu rod plăcut; cu zgomotul unui mare tumult el a aprins focul peste el și ramurile lui sunt rupte.

The LORD called thy name a leafy olive-tree, fair with goodly fruit; with the noise of a great tumult He hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.

17 Pentru că DOMNUL oștirilor, care te-a sădit, a pronunțat răul împotriva ta, datorită răutății casei lui Israel și casei lui Iuda, pe care au făcut-o împotriva lor înșiși, pentru a mă provoca la mânie prin oferirea de tămâie lui Baal.

For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, because of the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have wrought for themselves in provoking Me by offering unto Baal.

18 Și DOMNUL mi-a dat cunoașterea acesteia, și eu știu; atunci mi-ai arătat faptele lor.

And the LORD gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it; then Thou showedst me their doings.

19 Dar eu eram ca un miel sau un bou care este adus la măcelărire; și nu am știut că ei plănuiau planuri împotriva mea, spunând: Să distrugem pomul cu rodul lui și să îl stârpim din țara celor vii, ca numele lui să nu mai fie amintit.

But I was like a docile lamb that is led to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me: 'Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.'

20 Dar tu, DOAMNE al oștirilor, care judeci cu dreptate, care încerci rărunchii și inima, lasă-mă să văd răzbunarea ta asupra lor, pentru că ție ți-am descoperit cauza mea.

But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see Thy vengeance on them; for unto Thee have I revealed my cause.

21 De aceea astfel spune DOMNUL despre bărbații din Anatot, care îți caută viața, spunând: Să nu profețești în numele DOMNULUI, ca să nu mori de mâna noastră;

Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying: 'Thou shalt not prophesy in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand';

22 De aceea astfel spune DOMNUL oștirilor: Iată, eu îi voi pedepsi; tinerii vor muri de sabie; fiii lor și fiicele lor vor muri de foamete;

therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts: Behold, I will punish them; the young men shall die by the sword, their sons and their daughters shall die by famine;

23 Și nu va fi nici[o] rămășiță din ei, pentru că voi aduce răul peste bărbații din Anatot, în anul cercetării lor.

And there shall be no remnant unto them; for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.
