Isaia 58

1 Strigă tare, nu cruţa, ridică-ţi vocea ca o trâmbiţă şi arată poporului meu fărădelegea lor şi casei lui Iacob păcatele lor.

“Cry aloud, do not hold back! Raise your voice like a ram’s horn. Declare to My people their transgression and to the house of Jacob their sins.

2 Totuşi ei mă caută zilnic şi se desfată să cunoască ale mele căi, ca o naţiune care a făcut dreptate şi nu a părăsit rânduiala Dumnezeului lor, ei cer de la mine rânduielile dreptăţii; se desfată în a se apropia de Dumnezeu.

For day after day they seek Me and delight to know My ways, like a nation that does what is right and does not forsake the justice of their God. They ask Me for righteous judgments; they delight in the nearness of God.”

3 Pentru ce am postit, spun ei, şi tu nu vezi? Pentru ce ne-am chinuit sufletul, şi tu nu iei la cunoştinţă? Iată, în ziua postului vostru voi găsiţi plăcere şi stoarceţi de [la servitorii voştri] toate muncile datorate.

“Why have we fasted, and You have not seen? Why have we humbled ourselves, and You have not noticed?” “Behold, on the day of your fast, you do as you please, and you oppress all your workers.

4 Iată, postiţi pentru ceartă şi polemică şi pentru a lovi cu pumnul stricăciunii, nu postiți ca astăzi pentru a vă face vocea auzită în înalt.

You fast with contention and strife to strike viciously with your fist. You cannot fast as you do today and have your voice be heard on high.

5 Este acesta postul pe care eu l-am ales? O zi pentru om [ca] să îşi chinuiască sufletul? Este pentru a-şi pleca al său cap ca o trestie şi a-şi întinde pânză de sac şi cenuşă sub el? Vei numi aceasta un post şi o zi bine primită pentru DOMNUL?

Is this the fast I have chosen: a day for a man to deny himself, to bow his head like a reed, and to spread out sackcloth and ashes? Will you call this a fast and a day acceptable to the LORD?

6 Nu este acesta postul pe care l-am ales eu? A dezlega legăturile stricăciunii, a desface sarcinile grele şi a lăsa pe oprimaţi să meargă liberi şi să frângeţi fiecare jug?

Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen: to break the chains of wickedness, to untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and tear off every yoke?

7 Nu este a împărţi pâinea ta celui flămând şi să aduci la casa ta pe săracii care sunt lepădaţi? Când vezi pe cel gol, să îl acoperi; şi să nu te ascunzi de propria ta carne?

Isn’t it to share your bread with the hungry, to bring the poor and homeless into your home, to clothe the naked when you see him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

8 Atunci lumina ta va izbucni ca dimineaţa şi sănătatea ta va creşte repede şi dreptatea ta va merge înaintea ta; gloria DOMNULUI va fi ariergarda ta.

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will come quickly. Your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

9 Atunci vei chema şi DOMNUL va răspunde; vei striga, iar el va spune: Sunt aici. Dacă iei din mijlocul tău jugul, arătarea cu degetul şi vorbirea zadarnică,

Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry out, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you remove the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger and malicious talk,

10 Şi dacă îţi întinzi sufletul spre cel flămând şi saturi sufletul chinuit, atunci lumina ta se va ridica în întuneric şi întunecimea ta va fi ca amiaza;

and if you give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light will go forth in the darkness, and your night will be like noonday.

11 Şi DOMNUL te va călăuzi continuu şi va sătura sufletul tău chiar în secetă şi va îngrăşa oasele tale; şi vei fi ca o grădină udată şi ca un izvor de apă, ale cărui ape nu lipsesc.

The LORD will always guide you; He will satisfy you in a sun-scorched land and strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

12 Şi cei care vor ieși din tine vor reconstrui locurile vechi, risipite, vei ridica temeliile multor generaţii; şi vei fi numit: Reparatorul spărturii, Restauratorul cărărilor de locuit.

Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins; you will restore the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of the Streets of Dwelling.

13 Dacă îţi întorci piciorul de la sabat, de la a-ţi face plăcerea în ziua mea sfântă, şi vei chema sabatul o desfătare, sabatul sfânt al DOMNULUI, demn de cinste, şi îl vei cinsti, nefăcând propriile tale căi, nici găsind propria plăcere, nici vorbind propriile tale cuvinte,

If you turn your foot from breaking the Sabbath, from doing as you please on My holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight, and the LORD’s holy day honorable, if you honor it by not going your own way or seeking your own pleasure or speaking idle words,

14 Atunci te vei desfăta în DOMNUL; şi te voi face să călăreşti peste locurile înalte ale pământului şi te voi hrăni cu moştenirea tatălui tău, Iacob, căci gura DOMNULUI a vorbit aceasta.

then you will delight yourself in the LORD, and I will make you ride on the heights of the land and feed you with the heritage of your father Jacob.”
