Isaia 50
1 Astfel spune DOMNUL: Unde este cartea divorţului mamei tale, pe care am pus-o deoparte? Sau căruia dintre creditorii mei te-am vândut? Iată, pentru nelegiuirile voastre v-aţi vândut şi pentru fărădelegile voastre este mama voastră pusă deoparte.
Thus saith Jehovah: Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, By which I dismissed her? Or who is he among my creditors To whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities are ye sold, And for your transgressions was your mother dismissed.
2 De ce, atunci când am venit, nu era nimeni? Când am chemat, nu era nimeni să răspundă? Este mâna mea scurtată de tot, încât să nu poată răscumpăra, sau nu am putere să eliberez? Iată, la mustrarea mea usuc marea, fac râurile un pustiu, peştii lor put, deoarece nu este apă şi mor de sete.
Wherefore, when I came, was no man at hand? When I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand too short to redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, And make the rivers a desert. Their fish putrefy for want of water, And die with thirst.
3 Eu îmbrac cerurile în negru şi fac pânza de sac acoperitoarea lor.
I clothe the heavens with blackness, And make sackcloth their covering.
4 Domnul DUMNEZEU mi-a dat limba învăţatului, să ştiu cum să vorbesc un cuvânt, la timp, celui obosit; el îmi trezeşte dimineaţă de dimineaţă, îmi trezeşte urechea să asculte ca cel învăţat.
The Lord Jehovah hath given me the tongue of the learned, That I might know how to strengthen with my words them that are weary; He wakeneth me every morning, He wakeneth mine ear, That I may hear in the manner of the learned.
5 Domnul DUMNEZEU mi-a deschis urechea şi nu m-am răzvrătit, nici nu m-am întors înapoi.
The Lord Jehovah opened mine ear, And I was not disobedient, Neither did I withdraw myself backward.
6 Mi-am dat spatele celor ce lovesc şi obrajii celor care au smuls părul, nu mi-am ascuns faţa de la ruşine şi scuipare.
I gave my back to the smiters, And my cheeks to them that pluck the beard; I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
7 Fiindcă Domnul DUMNEZEU mă va ajuta; de aceea nu voi fi încurcat, de aceea mi-am făcut faţa precum cremenea şi ştiu că nu voi fi ruşinat.
But the Lord Jehovah is my helper, Therefore shall I not be confounded; Therefore have I made my face like a flint, For I know that I shall not be put to shame.
8 [Cel] ce mă declară drept este aproape; cine se va certa cu mine? Să ne ridicăm împreună în picioare, cine este potrivnicul meu? Să se apropie de mine.
He that defendeth my cause is near; Who will contend with me? Let us stand up together! Who is my adversary? Let him come near to me!
9 Iată, Domnul DUMNEZEU mă va ajuta; cine este cel ce mă va condamna? Iată, se vor învechi toţi ca o haină, molia îi va mânca.
Behold, the Lord Jehovah is my defender; Who is he that shall condemn me? Behold, they shall all waste away like a garment; The moth shall consume them.
10 Cine printre voi se teme de DOMNUL, care ascultă de vocea servitorului său, care umblă în întuneric şi nu are lumină? Să se încreadă în numele DOMNULUI şi să se sprijine pe Dumnezeul lui.
Who is there among you that feareth Jehovah, That hearkeneth to the voice of his servant, That walketh in darkness and hath no light? Let him trust in the name of Jehovah, And lean upon his God.
11 Iată, voi toţi care aprindeţi un foc, care vă înconjuraţi cu scântei, umblaţi în lumina focului vostru şi în scânteile pe care le-aţi aprins. Aceasta veţi avea din mâna mea; vă veţi întinde în întristare.
Behold, all ye who kindle a fire, Who gird yourselves with burning arrows! Walk ye in the light of your fire, And in the burning arrows which ye have kindled. This shall ye have from my hand; Ye shall lie down in sorrow.
